Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

For costumes I wouldn't mind his old Semei costume, but in all black instead of the white. Would be a cool contrast. I got the thinking about about Terry Gannon's comment when Yuzu skated clean at NHK. I never forgot it. He said "it may not be an Olympic moment, but it's one he's going to remember for a long time." And now I'm like, Terry, if you only knew Yuzu would go ahead and try to make it just that. I hope he remembers he said that :laugh:.

Uh! You have no idea how much I'd pay to see him in predominantly black with some accents. If red, all the better.
I figure the blue goes to Chopin, but yes, please, can we have the black/red combo for Seimei.
 
I don't know if someone has posted already but David Wilson was absent on 8th because he had fever. I hope he gets well and shows up on 9th.

95 reporters made it to TCC from Japan... :palmf: that's like 1/4 of a airplane... I wonder if the Prime Minister got that much attention from the press :p

Yuzu looks a bit nervous when he said free is going to be SEIMEI, I guess they must have had endless discussion internally about the selection of SP & LP, and they still go for it. SEIMEI does deserve to be at Olympic stage, the originality, the artistry, the heritage, the heart and soul that he put into the program... Just like what he said, we should sit tight and wait to be WoW.

Can we have a new EX pls~ :cheer2:
 
I love "Seimei" and wish I had gotten to see it skated in all its glory at Boston Worlds (which wasn't so glorious), so I'm kind of glad he's dusting it off for the Olympics with a refreshed layout. It's a signature program for Yuzu and hopefully will bring him more gold.

I can understand people wanting something new (especially since he's also reusing Chopin), but I will reserve judgement when I see the refreshed versions.
 
Yes, I always felt there was some unfinished business with Seimei (stupid Boston), so I understand his decision to bring it for the Olympics. I really don't have a problem with him using Seimei this season, it's a program that's special to him and full of his commitment, even if I would've also loved to see something new. I personally want to see a quad lutz from him as I'm sure it would be spectacular.

Chopin I can understand why he's using it as well, but I'm more sad about that decision as it means we're probably missing out on another chance for a new Yuzu/Jeff program. I'm sure both will look beautiful (he already looks fantastic in the news clips), but I'll miss the excitement of seeing brand new programs.

Now if we can only get some exhibition news.

I feel like this should be kept mum until the first exhibition performance so that we would have at least an illusion of a sheer novelty from Yuzu. If he opens up about it now then there will be no secrets left about him. And that is a bit off to me...
I think that reusing Chopin might actually affect him the most scorewise.

But then we'll have to wait until Rostelecom :sad46:.

I don't think re-using Chopin should affect him score wise, there wouldn't be any justification PCS-wise (he's already gotten 49 in PCS with it), the only area I see that can be affected is the GOE. Can he get +3 on his jump elements in particular is the biggest question.

He looks very good in those videos, and we're in the off season. If possible, they look even better than before. They can only underscore him to a certain point too in this as well. His name does carry quite a bit of weight, if he lands them in that way during a competition and especially if his highest average theory works, and he's consistent throughout.

You are right, I'll miss too. But, on the other hand, the season will be very difficult for Yuzu because of all the expectations towards him and I can understand his choices. Besides, I love both Seimei and Chopin :luv17:
 
In one of those TV news clips the first thing he said about going into this season is keeping himself injury-free, which I for some reason forgot that is always the number one priority and is very happy to hear that he is taking care of his body.

I love both costumes for Chopin and SEIMEI, but won't mind seeing new ones!
