Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

I woke up happy hearing about all the practices reports, but now reading the fan fest:sad21: Why so much negativity? Even if he bombs the LP ala ACI,it's not the end of the world.
And I trust him that it's going to be better.
I don't care if he doesn't win here, it's impossible to be perfect every time (except Evgenia),and he's not a robot yet. He's improved his layout,it's normal to have some lows at the beginning. What matters it's later on the season.

Sorry for my rants.Go Yuzu!:hap10:

Yuzu was fine in practice, him jumping a lot looks way different. He took his breaks in between and laughed/smiled quite often at his mistakes. Dunno what to expect from the LP in competition, but he did the right thing in training IMO.

Now the news about him doing Swan as EX :palmf:
I was really hoping for something new at least for the Gala, or for him to bring back something older like Etude/R&J. This is so disappointing .______.
He wants that legendary title of RECYKING more than Olympic Gold, I tell ya!!!
His current lead after announcing the return of Notte Stellata is truly uncatchable and devastating

Apart from that I really wish him all the best today. Hope he still has some fun between all those jumps ;)

I think he skates to the swan because he is in Russia and Tarasova is there .. I refuse to believe he will keep swan whole season :unsure:

Thank you for your report :thank:

Here is the translation of german Eurosport SP. I'm not a translator, though! :I hope it's understandable anyway. Unfortunately the LP won't be with commentary today.

S(igi Heinrich): Well, the Japanese community is here today. Now, he's actually going to have to deliver, because Nathan Chen did a great job in the short. It's the one and only Yuzuru Hanyu from Japan. He trains in Toronto with Brian Orser. Quadruple Lutz - somehow he's planning to do, but he has to take out one triple Axel. We will see, now it is time for the short. It is...he's shown this one in the season before last. Ballad Number 1 from Frederic Chopin.

H(endrik Schamberger): Quadruple Loop.

H: uhhhh! That came as a surprise.

S: But not as dramatic in the result, as it seems. There will be a deduction, naturally.

H: Yes.

S: The question is, was it round? The triple toe loop?

H: Think so. But they'll show it later.

S: This won't be enough to lead after the short program at Rostelecom Cup in Moscow. Don't think so. But - I've said it before. He's the Usain Bolt of the figure skating world, dear audience. These pictures show it. The man will journey home with excess baggage from every competition.

H: Hehe.

S: Great skater, either way. It's pure fascination. The effortlessness he has trying these difficulties.

H: Exactly.

S: The way he skates, it's mind-boggling. But...look at this, Hendrik. They are not messing around. Only 50 points technical score left.

H: He got 54 earlier.

S: He had 54...ehh.

H: It's getting close...I would say it won't be enough. Eh..but he will...

S: 49!

H: He will be in a position in the long where he can easily get back on top. I believe that...Well, excitement...

S: Well I can't sign off that 'easily'. Because I believe that Nathan Chen has reached a level...

H: Yes, without doubt.

S: This is something people wouldn't have trusted him (Nathan) to do at this point....

H: Without a doubt. eh...nevertheless thinking of the components...how he works the skate...Hanyu has more....

S: A different league....

H: He is better. And eh....

S: No. No. Looking at it from this point, there is no discussion. The technique of skating and him....yes, Hanyu is another league....

H: Ahhh, the loop wasn't THAT round. Naaah..it's difficult. He's landing a bit on the spike and then rotates over the spike. Eh, you really need a good slow motion to say, if that's deduction worthy. The Axel is beautiful. Hard setup here, by the way, with the rotation at the beginning. Yes, this is the Toeloop, interesting to see. The Quad was definitely good. He needed a long time to get back into the air for the triple so that wasn't exactly round. Also.. it was his downfall, that it wasn't really round. He couldn't use the power of his leg to take it out...it could be a deduction, which means he will lose points. Perhaps.

S: Program components will be around 45/46.

H: Yes.

S: But that won't be enough...

H: No

S: to balance the losses of the technical elements.......

H: That's the way it is.

S:. He won't reach 100. Nathan Chen will be in front, the way it looks now, after the short. Yes, like I said. Yuzuru Hanyu in second place. A little surprise at the opening event of the Grand Prix broadcast. Yuzuru Hanyu behind Nathan Chen and clearly.

H: Yes, clearly, six points. But - in the long we are talking about dimensions of about 200 points that are possible for him. And six points are, let's say, a nuance. But he has to beat Nathan Chen who will risk five Quadruples, which Hanyu won't do. It's going to be an exciting race.

It could have been better, but he still got 100 TES with many mistakes... if he manages to skate this cleaner, and I'm pretty sure he will, this program will be an absolute monster to beat. Good job Yuzu! :)

Yuzuru fought so hard!! Congrats for landing 4Lz :hap10: He said he wasn't satisfied with the performance at all and wanted to get 4Lo back in both SP and LP.

I saw seimei cosplay girl cries after Nathan's LP but it doesn't mean she was touch by him but because she knew Yuzuru will be 2nd. TBH I am kinda used to this pattern. Yuzuru will always take a silver in his first GP then will take home the gold on GPF.

So happy about the lutz. He can now concentrate on wooing the 4Lo again. -Must be feeling neglected.
also, I win a ramen. :palmf:
Yuzu fought hard and didn't let the errors derail him this time. Good start.
Also, the return of the red fanboy. Hilarious.

He did well:clap: I knew it, he's a fighter and never disappoints. As I said, I don't care about the place, he only needs to secure his possition into the GPF.
I think at NHK we'll see a big improvement, and I hope landing that 4LZ:yahoo: gives him confidence.

I'm proud of you Yuzu!

Congratulation, Yuzu, to first 4L in competition! As mentioned often here in GS, the new baby 4L conflicts with the other quads, it seems specially with 4 Lo.

I hope it gives him confidence and also reminds him that landing a 4lz means nothing if you can't also land the loop, sal, toe, 2 Triple Axels and all the combos. But, I'm just being nit-picky...I love him and even though his strategy goes against everything I live my life by (careful, low risk, safe) it sure is exciting.

He must get 2 silvers like Sochi season :drama:
After RC, all his competitions will be held in Japan until OG ;)
Anyway, congrats 4lz!

Medal ceremony will be held tomorrow, before Gala! I hope we're going to have live stream!
