Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

I hope Yuzuru comes back strong. He is quite stunning. I am a little late on the Yuzuru fandom I know, ok, a lot late. lol. He is really spectacular the way he makes each jump look so effortless. Nothing he does looks labored at all. I could watch his 2017 Worlds lp all day.

Skip team event, and go to 4CC. It sounds like a workable option. I guess finally it all comes down to Yuzu and his team, and mainly Yuzu himself. What he feels like, what he wanted to do. I am not sure how he feels about the team event, does he feel like it’s it is his responsibility to represent the country and lead the team? Does he also think without strong pairs and ice dancer, Japan don’t have much chance to get on the podium, therefore, it is reasonable to let go the team event?

He might still go to national with 2 water-down programs, we don’t know yet. (I guess no one knows at the moment, maybe Yuzu didn’t know either, it really comes down to this week if he could get get back on ice)
It lucky that he doesn’t need to build up reputation for both of his programs this season, so hopefully it ease some of his frustration of not being in competitions.

 it’s a awesome picture they have picked, I can feel the fire inside of him, hopefully those students could feel it too.

This sounds more like him because he is proud of being his country representative wherever he competes, although I also think it may be good for him to go to 4CC. I hope he can chose the way he will never regret

Kobayashi revealed Yuzuru's comments on December 13.

"I damaged the ligament where the healing is prolonged than the normal sprain."

"From now on, I will stand on the ice and start simple skating with just strokes and crosses focusing on the left foot, and increase the load little by little, to make it possible to turn on the right foot, etc. "

It is said that he will start practicing on ice sometime soon and he has a will to participate in Japanese nationals.

*I edited one part to make sense more. Sorry if I made you confused!

Well, we'll see. Fingers crossed it will be in time. -We don't have to expect anything, except that he will try his very best. Go Yuzu!

I don't see the issue with him doing 4CC and the team event if he is only doing the team SP.

Sounds like that means right before 10 PM Toronto time then. So it sounds like he has been on ice at least, maybe not jumping yet. This kid is stressing me out so much...

I'm sorry, my translation was not good, but reading it in Japanese, I got the impression that Yuzuru had not practiced on the ice yet. "From now on, I will stand on the ice and start skating with only simple skating....", and the article also said that he would resume practicing on the ice near future.

It's just over a week until Nationals. He has very little time to prepare, if he's only just got back on the ice. Even less time, given he'd have to travel to Japan.

My view is, it would be a crazy and unecessary risk to try and compete at Nationals, and I really hope he doesn't :-/

He's not. All these news are basically preparing everyone for his WD. Not even Yuzu can expect to go from stroking and crossovers only with the left foot this week to 3-4 quads layouts by Nationals next week so he's not going to Nationals. What's left to find out is what he, his team and JSF will decide for next half of the season. Will he do the Team Event? Will he skip that to go to 4CC? Will his first competition be the men's individual SP?

I hope, if he doesn't do any competition before Olympics, that he does join those simulations TCC tends to do in Canada with other rinks.

There's another translation by ironklaus that says 'When I get back on ice....' keyword when.
Cant seem to copy the link here though

I have that impression as well... he is still not on ice, even 2 water-down programs with no quads could be risky when he is still in rehabilitation and was not practicing on ice for a month already.

He'll WD. It would be reckless to compete with less than a week of training, plus the flight. I feel very sad because I miss his skating so much, but it's for the best outcome. I hope these two months are enough to prepare well for the Olympics. Go yuzu! 🤞🤞

Aww... it'll be sad if Yuzuru withdraws but if it's what good for his health then so be it. God, I just miss his skating as well.

Thank you :) There are some ways to translate his words, but I think all translators will agree that he didn't say "I started practicing on the ice, and now I have been practicing with only simple skating with strokes and crosses...". So I personally took it that he wanted to tell Kobayashi he would start practicing on the ice soon and how he would train since he told her on Sunday that he had not been on the ice yet. I hope he is not rushed.

Yeah. I mean, if he's just starting to skate figures now I honestly doubt he can compete in 10 days and, honestly, this is for the best. The Olympics are what counts right now, and although he'll be at a disadvantage having not competed until then, it's still better than injuring himself further and not go at all.

where is the fast forward button?? can this cursed season be over already? :sad21: its like there isnt a day where we dont hear someone is injured :dbana:
