Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

"NHK special" will be aired from 7:30 PM Japan time today. It says "we exclusively interviewed him repeatedly." and I think they mean they also did after Yuzuru was injured. I'm a little nervous for this but we now know he has been doing fine, so I'll try to enjoy the program :)

I’m a tad nervous, too. I’ll be on my 13 hr flight but I wonder what news I’ll see once I land. I had an ugly shock when I was headed to ACI on my layover about knee pain so I felt pretty worried on the last leg of my flight.

I really hope nothing will happen anymore to him, you, and us   Please have a safe flight and don't get catch a cold :hap10:

Thank you :)

I’d like to think new year, new and better luck and things are going to turn around for him.

Have a safe trip and enjoy your stay in Korea!

As for the "mr. Hanyu" reference...why am I thinking of "Mr. Frodo" with Sam's voice. Why?

Watched the NHK special just now.
No recent footage (of course) but Yuzu sent a message and then there was a terrible replay of his injury 3TIMES! Ugh. I couldn't watch that. :dev2: But what an amazing journey it's been for him, from his childhood learning to skate till now. He's strong at heart, and none of the set-backs can keep him down. I still don't expect miracles from the Olympics, but will cheer for him with everything I've got, no matter what the outcome.
-Go Yuzu!

What a great timing Orser gave us new information about Yuzuru yesterday. Without it, I could have been so depressed watching this right now :roll9: (I was expecting this program was going to be hard to watch though, because its title includes "struggle")

So true. It was a struggle for us to watch, how much more difficult must it have been for Yuzu and his team. :(

Fortunately Borser broke the “ sound of silence” game they were playing and saved us, the NHK special looks more like a depressing pre WD announcement than a promoting/supporting clip.:biggrin:

Oh boy, then you and yude better not watch other sports which have more serious injuries. I've seen my favs getting injured, blood and all.

Don't worry, I like watching Boxing, Judo, etc. But yes, I don't like watching Yuzuru hurt knowing it is a part of the sport. And honestly I just didn't like the dark tone of this documentary, probably the casual viewers thought Yuzuru was already finished since the program didn't show any hope except for Yuzurus's comments at the end.

Oh, well. We'll see him soon in a few days, looking forward to seeing his smile :)

I was fast-forwarding through the NHK special too since I could not bear to watch the injury footage...I appreciate their efforts in getting a letter from Yuzuru ( it says it's from week ago), who admitted to feeling both anxious towards the healing process and excited that the big game is approaching. It did show repeatedly that he wanted to include the 4lz and was very confident about it (pre-injury), but now we know from Brian that he will not be attempting that jump. ( I guess NHK did not have time to include that latest info or maybe I missed it?)
