Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Don't let this bother you, American media always has to toot their own horn. OT here but while I have mad respect for Nathan for all the quads he managed to land when the day before he made mistakes on all the jumps, his fs just made me realize why I enjoy Yuzuru so much. He does have it all. Not just the jumps, but so so much more. Even for people who doesn't know his story or the fact he is injured, by just watching the skate you can FEEL something.

I also think he will pass on the worlds.

I'm all for battle but for the first time I also hope that he passes the worlds. In last 4 years he has gone through blood and sweat for this moment. I like to see him enjoy this victory and take a good rest. Honestly, he's done so much for us and for the sport. He does not need to prove anything to anyone anymore. For the first time in a long time let this time be only his, not fans, not the sport and not the media, just him

So according to recent interviews, Yuzu isn't sure he's going to be able to skate next season because the ankle injury isn't healing. He is going back to Japan for an x-ray next... and he basically used high grade painkillers to get through Olympics.

Yes, it's very worrying about his continued injury. He made his decision to bet it all on this Olympics and won! --The cost is high to the body, and in a way, I'm glad he knows he cannot possibly continue without a proper rest period. --Even a whole season. He has his two Golds that he was aiming for his whole life, but he has an even longer life ahead, you need your legs and ankles and feet for that too. Take your time, and take your rest Yuzu!

My heart dropped reading this. He pushed his ankle to the max and I'm scared he now has to pay the highest price...I hope he takes all the time he needs to heal every part of his body, including his mind. No one deserves more rest than him.

Ohhh myyy goshhh...will he perform in the gala next Sunday? If it’s any kind of risk he shouldn’t. The crowd would just be happy to see him skate a circle around a rink let’s be real

Wow i had no idea his injury was that bad... that makes this epic feat even more special and incredible.

Honestly... if he leaves the sport, I doubt I will continue to watch. It simply won't be the same without him....

So great ! I remember myself the first time i discovered my Yuzu at 2014 Winter Olympics Games ... since, i followed him during 3 years, then busy by working and other stuff, i still had his face in my heart .... and then just right now, 4 years after the Winter Olympics, he did it ! I'm so happy for him.

I have a link where the french tv broadcasted all the event and Yuzu is around 3h17:19s . If someone can catch the stream, it would be awsome ! I failed, it is impossible to ddl the video or find the url in the source code of the page.

You can also see Yuzu tears at 4h13:56 s ... if someone can also catch this stream ...

I don't understand, I thought he recovered before Pyeongchang? I am not emotionally prepared yet to see the word "retired" next to his name. Call me selfish but I want him to rest and come back for one more season. Seriously, this is too sudden!

Yuzu himself said he wants to skate 'a little more' meaning he has no plans of retiring BUT he also is saying that to make it to the Olympics he pushed his body past where it should go. --We'll need to see what the doctors say after he has a proper examination.

Whatever happens in the future, he's achieved his dream of becoming a two time gold medalist. He had an incredibly comeback and I'm so proud and lucky to have followed him this past quad. Thank you, Yuzuru. :luv17:

Please give me a link to after boston when he reveal his injury. Was it this hurt, I nearly can't bear anymore, It just so sad. If only I discovered Yuzu way earlier 😢

If his injury is that bad, then he shouldn't attend Worlds. He should rest as many here said. Praying for him a good health:pray: but I still hope to see him next season.

“q: thoughts about competing in the beijing olympics in 2022?
yuzuru: i'm not thinking about that at all. before thinking about whether i can make it to 2022 or not, i'm in a condition right now where i dont know if i'll be able to compete next season or the season after that.

Oh my God. Yuzuru 😱

He really gave it all in this Olympics. And here I was believing that he was no longer hurt and was happy when I saw how positive and all smiles he was during the tournament. When in fact, he had decided to throw all caution to the wind and damn the consequences, as long as he gets to skate and win that second Olympic Gold medal and prove to the world that he is Yuzuru Hanyu and he’s the GOAT.

Yuzu is breaking my heart. 😭

This one too.

“yuzuru: a part of me could tell that my end is getting closer, so that's why i really felt the need to win this gold medal

His heart is still with skating, its just a matter if his body can hold up...He reiterated his desire to land the 4A during the recent presscon.

Oh skating gods please:cry::sad4:... please please please help him heal:pray::pray::pray:

He seemed relaxed and content during the press conference and even mentioned wanting to come back to do the 4a, so I do think he'll be able to heal! It might just take some time, which I'm honestly okay with. He's given us his all, he has nothing left to prove.

If Yuzu thinks he needs to take a season, or even 2 seasons off, that’s what he’ll do. I’m sure he’ll do what he can to heal and come back to make 4A a reality.
