He said when he thinks about what he wants to do other than skating, he comes back to skating in the end. His dream is to do 4a. Axel jump has been supporting him until the very end, so he wants to challenge 4a. The injury to his right ankle is big, and he is already quite satisfied with his life so far, so really the only motivation for him now is to do the 4a. He wants to go ahead with that while seeing how his ankle holds up.

I'm so happy with what he was able to accomplish, but I'm also worried about his health after the recent news about his ankle broke out. He was the first current figure skater I followed after I started skating back in April, and I've spent much of this season hoping that he would recover from his injury and win the gold again. I was over the moon when his scores came in, but I do remember how he bent to hold his ankle as soon as he finished his long program. I had no idea it was as bad as he later said it was. At this point I think he's entitled to a nice, long, and very much well deserved rest after all he's done for the sport.

I'm more and more shocked at how Hanyu & Co pulled this OGM off. It's a miracle.

It won't end anytime soon. He's probably running on adrenaline right now, hopefully he'll get some good rest before the gala so he doesn't burn out beforehand

Long time lurker popping in to say I’m thrilled that Yuzuru had a gold medal skate that he was happy with because it would be a shame if splatfest at Sochi was his only Olympic gold association, he’s accomplished so much and really deserves so much happiness. Master class by everyone on Team Hanyu in gamesmanship with the media blackout, lowering expectations by having people wonder if he was healthy enough to skate let alone win, leaving competitors in the dark about how much to up the technical ante, and letting him just focus on his recovery without cameras in his face. Proud of him for skating smart to win instead of skating for ego to do the hardest tricks with unnecessary risk. And to do it all on a wonky ankle is superhuman. His drive and passion for the sport are second to none and it really shows in his skating.

I know he idolizes Plushenko but I don’t want to see him enduring all those surgeries for the sake of doing Olympics after Olympics when he’s already accomplished more than anyone could ever reasonably hope for. Health is the most important thing a person can have, not medals. The Japanese federation still has Uno so they shouldn’t be shoving Hanyu out there like Russia with Plushenko and South Korea with Kim if he doesn’t feel that he needs to do another Winter Games because he has nothing left to prove and doesn’t owe them anything more. He seems to have learned a lot about his own personal limitations due to the injury, and I trust that he will be smart about whatever next steps he chooses for his skating career.

Any news about whether Yuzuru is planning to attend the closing ceremonies? Japan has got to give him the flag if he’s going, I would think.

His love for the Axel jump is real Is it going to be his future wife or what? He said the only motivation now was landing 4A, and I'm so sure he will come back to achieve this new goal, but he just needs time. His injury is very complicated and not easy to find the proper treatment, he says he can't have a shot to the affected area so he has to take painkillers, and it could have been easier if his born was broken (he said this on TV show btw). But again, I think he only needs time to be examined and fully healed. He has still ice shows in his mind because he wants to perform in front of his fans, but he is not sure of competing yet (and of course he isn't).

I'm very happy to see he looks so happy, calm, peace and smiley. Judging by his comments and face, he does not regret for what he did to win here, and that was all I ask for. I hope he can do whatever he needs after this Olympics, even though he will have to attend many events in Japan
