Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Someone just said to me: Yuzu's probably going to grow wings and fly around the stadium for the 2022 gala to complete the Swan trilogy :laugh2:

He held that lift for a long time though. Yuzu must be heavier than Valentina. No?

I decided to ask Mr google and found that Valentina is 55 kg, height is 1.61m.
Yuzu is currently 57kg? He is certainly taller than Valentina, which effects lifts.
But shouldnt be a prob for Ondrej, he's not doing complicated lifts which moving like in competition

I cried watching his performance today, actually I've been emotional for about a week. My lachrymal gland :drama:

Today's performance was beautiful...and also we aren't sure when we can see him skate next. But, at least we can be sure of one more crazy round of interviews before he disappears to fix his foot.

Today's Swan was lovely (and yes, NBC stream and NBC broadcast had slightly different angles) - I also held my breath during the twizzle axel but he finally did it!

I do wonder when we'll get to see him skate again, but hoping he gets the best care and prioritizes getting himself healed now that he's attained one of his dreams.

On another note, phew. I feel like I need a badge that says "I survived a full Olympic cycle". I can't believe 4 years have passed since I first saw this kid skate and got sucked into this sport, it's been a pretty turbulent 4 years. Honestly, I've questioned many times whether being a fan of a skater was supposed to be this stressful, but for now I'll just enjoy seeing his happiness and hope we get to see him be amazing again soon.

I promised I wouldn't let myself get invested again like I did for Sasha and to a slightly lesser extent, Plushy. Was easier being a Plushy fan cuz he won everything in sight. But Yuzu was (and is) just too good (now the GOAT for me). His wins feel more rewarding to me especially because I go in thinking that while he SHOULD win, it's not always a foregone conclusion. I value each victory knowing he really fights for every single one of them.

for me it was the best swan!!! you could see the sense of accomplishment in his face near the end of the performance, this was just gorgeous!! ESP commentators loved it too! great to see the appreciation of delayed 1A from various commentators :luv17:
