Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

eurosport i watched was using their commentary, i guess they were using the same Olympic Broadcasting Service one then :slink::biggrin:

On TV or on the ESP player? Because this should be on the player which is yes, the web commentary, and on TV it should be the usual crowd.

Also a funny recap of the games with great praise for Hanyu but not so much Winnie the Pooh. https://www.theringer.com/olympics/2018/2/23/17044646/winter-olympics-pyeongchang-week-2-winners-losers
Relevant excerpt:
No performance in Pyeongchang struck me the way Yuzuru Hanyu’s figure skating routines did. Hanyu won gold for the second consecutive Olympics, becoming the first two-time men’s champion since Dick Button in 1948 and 1952. Hanyu’s performances displayed the athletic brilliance and magnetic performing capabilities that make figure skating so captivating; they were works of true physical art.

Perhaps more memorable than Hanyu’s performances were the way fans celebrated his routines. They hurled hundreds of Winnie the Pooh dolls onto the ice. Witness the cascade of Poohs raining down from the stands.

...

What a triumph for Winnie, a talentless, clumsy, and dim-witted bear who apparently feels enough shame to put on a loose shirt that barely covers his honey-bloated belly but doesn’t feel the need to put on pants because he has no genitals. Somehow, he’s become associated with a man who showcases the fullest range of the human body’s power and grace.

on TV, but one of extra eurosport channel opened only for olympics

Article in The Bustle about Yuzuru´s gala performance https://www.bustle.com/p/the-video-...ition-gala-routine-will-blow-you-away-8319863

Hanyu wore a black and white outfit as he glided as he skated across the ice to the melodic piano song. There are no jumps within the first few minutes, but he does a few impressive spins. That's OK, because Hanyu's artistry is so incredible that you hardly notice the fact that he's not as airborne as he was during the individual men's competition, where he flawlessly landed his jumps. The routine put the spotlight on Hanyu's gracefulness as a masterful performer and it doesn't disappoint. And when he does make his smooth spinning jumps, the performance is even more magical.

Edit.

Also he made the list on things to remember from FS from this Olympics, twice as his skating (1) and for Pooh (12):

Today's Swan was lovely (and yes, NBC stream and NBC broadcast had slightly different angles) - I also held my breath during the twizzle axel but he finally did it!

I do wonder when we'll get to see him skate again, but hoping he gets the best care and prioritizes getting himself healed now that he's attained one of his dreams.

On another note, phew. I feel like I need a badge that says "I survived a full Olympic cycle". I can't believe 4 years have passed since I first saw this kid skate and got sucked into this sport, it's been a pretty turbulent 4 years. Honestly, I've questioned many times whether being a fan of a skater was supposed to be this stressful, but for now I'll just enjoy seeing his happiness and hope we get to see him be amazing again soon.

^ This is me to a T , and his EX was so beautiful that I was once again mesmerized, then I started crying like a baby afterwards. It was just so beautiful!

(My only complaint about last night would be NBC's horrible TV coverage of the gala :noshake:, and their online stream wouldn't work for me either :palmf:)

^ I cannot agree more with the Swan description above. I was watching the gala an hour or so back, and still have tears spring into my eyes involuntarily when I think of Hanyu's Swan. First (and so far only) skate ever that made me tearful and moved solely for its sheer beauty. Art on ice has many forms, but this one has smitten me the most.

ETA: simpost, lol. Ice Mage, you took the words out of my mouth.

^ I love that pic! They're all so cute. :luv17:

It really was beautiful and I especially liked it with less jumps, the artistry is just so breathtaking.

(P.S. NBC's coverage almost ruined the night, but luckily Yuzu saved it for me. :))

https://twitter.com/GERBERA1207/status/967744203563220992 The Olympics did not allow it...but Pooh has sneaked on to official broadcasts anyway. Silly old bear.

I haven't seen Tokyo Ghoul yet, but its on my list of things to binge watch when I get the time. Has Yuzu mentioned liking any other manga/anime?I

He was listening to Digimon op from Wada Kouji before LP, so we can assume he is a fan...
