Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

That would be awesome. Then all GS forumers can win lottery and go watch figure skating tournaments as many as we want

Exactly my thoughts, I just need around $30000 to go to Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022, another $2000 to go to a couple of FS events..

http://web.icenetwork.com/fans/icetalk Speaking of Jackie, I liked his re-cap of the Olympics in the Ice Talk podcast. --BUT they ignored Boyang. :(

I’ll have to give this a listen, but how could they forget Boyang! The guy came in fourth and was nearly clean at this first Olympics and has two world bronzes!

If Yuzu ever becomes a commentator or does a show like this he would never ignore a skater like Boyang. I love that he genuinely appreciates and gives him kudos.

Boyang's biggest stan: Yuzuru Hanyu.

Yuzu's show would probably be named: Boyang's Quads and Me

(Or Quads and Me: How Boyang's Lutz Changed My Life)

https://twitter.com/yuzu_pino/status/969397978728251392 Some news about Yuzu being considered for the award, and also a peak inside the new book. I also agree with the commentator who said, the award may be too confining, I'd like him to be free.

It's up to Yuzu if he will accept the award, I think he probably will.

I think we’d all like him to be free, but I also think the odds of it happening are very low.

If he doesn’t accept the award, I‘d be shocked.

And on the subject of Boyang and Hanyu: Boyang-Hanyu for pairs, so we can see non-stop 4LzTh.

"With great honor comes great responsibility" :( I can't decide if I'm happy or sad... Does the Japanese government vote on it?

High standard of conduct is expected. It's difficult to be natural or do what normal young people do...
-But Yuzu is already under this kind of expectation anyway.

Ah. Is it sort of like Knighthood in the UK, then?

Honestly, I don't think it would be much of a problem for Yuzu. He seems very disciplined to me.

I guess is just an honor to be considered, let´s wait and see, after all there is a process, of hearings I guess and recommendations about if he should get the award...

It’s not that so much as that it cements the quiet, delicate brutality of his admission that only one of his dreams has come true in winning the OGM, with countless others forgotten.

He’s 23 and he’s been asked to do more than anyone should, frankly. While he’s never going to get to have a normal life... I just feel somewhat sad for some reason.

I see no possibility of him not accepting the award...I don't know about the history of the award though, has it ever been refused?

As for being held in high standard, I think no one is harder on himself than he is, and that even without being awarded or being in the spotlight, his respect for others is obvious in his everyday life.

I think in the past four years he has grown rapidly, both realizing and coming to terms with what is expected of him and how to balance that expectation with who he really is. In the interview/press con just few days ago, he said his life in the past four years has been extreme highs and extreme lows, but even before Sochi, it has been the same way, so in a way he said he didn't think it was any different, that it was just his life.

Being quite a diplomatic person (or at least I think he is), it will be unlikely for him to say "I did not sacrifice anything to get to where I am!". I think it's great for him acknowledge things that he has given up to be where he is (many youngsters with aspiring dreams are listening closely to what he has to say to try to figure out their own lives), at the same time he is giving credits/thanks to the sacrifices others have in order for him the achieve his dreams. I would think for example his and his family could not spend as much as time together as they want to since he was chasing his dream in Canada, and that is something that was "given up"on both sides.

He has shown himself time and time again to be stronger than we can possibly imagine him to be. I am not feeling anguished or worried that he will be burdened; I think he will use this effectively, in whatever possible way, towards his next goal.
