Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Interesting. Thank you.

Maybe it was lost in translation, but do you think he was positively surprise with Yuzuru?

I remember that after his surgery we find out he was allergic to alcohol and I have this idea he didn´t drink at all... I just learned something knew

Yes, astounded, but in a good way.

"All these versions of me have stayed with me inside. I hope I can make them proud."

夢を生きる (Yume wo ikiru) came out on March 1, 2018 as a compilation of all Yuzuru’s interviews previously published in Ice Jewels Vol. 1 - 7, spanning the 2015 - 2018 seasons. In addition, there is an exclusive interview for the book on his thoughts going into the Olympics and beyond (given pre-Olympics but not entirely sure when) and an afterword penned by Yuzuru himself.
Yuzuru Hanyu on his journey in life and figure skating, and supporters and mentors always alongside.

:sad4: reading this made me tear up a little
 Puru sam

The conflict between wanting Yuzuru to land 4A next season but not at the same time so he doesn't retire so soon :drama:
During Olympics a commentator on Eurosport said that Yuzu is not the only skater aiming for the 4A debut. Chafik Besseghier from France has practised it successfully with harness already and a Russian skater (his name was not mentioned in particular) has landed it without assistance - allegedly - but fell on another attempt and broke his leg.

I don't know how eager Yuzu is for becoming the first skater to land the 4A. If I remember correctly, he said something like "I wouldn't be disappointed, if I wasn't the first, but I want to master it in my competitive career."
But let's be honest, guys. I bet my monthly salary that he wants that crown for himself. The 4A is his little baby and he doesn't want to see anyone else land it before him  So he won't wait too long. I'm quite sure he plans to attempt it on the big stage - that will be GPF 18 in Vancouver (former Olympic venue) or Worlds 19 in front of his home crowd in Saitama.

#Sidenote: I don't think that he'll quit his competitive career after the 4A debut. Yuzu talked about the 'perfect skate' as his long-term goal. No way he can achieve that within a single season (beat me, if he can :hopelessness:)

https://twitter.com/katsuyuki510/status/973825321584791552 the Sendai parade committee has been formed and budget has been estimated and approved (after partial objection from the communist party).
Hanyu has given consent, and they are scheduling for sometime in late April.
This is a rough translation...please correct, as always, if I have gotten anything wrong.

So we will see Yuzu for sure some time in late April.

I think Hany for should skate in what ever event he wants to from now on. If he doesn't want to do GP, he shouldn't do it. He isn't chasing medals anymore.

This is a tidbit by the managing director of Japanese national press club.

https://twitter.com/vertigo06/status/973035726408265728

I had a chat with Hanyu-senshu in the waiting room before the press conference. "I have been interested in news from a long time ago and looking it closely. When I was asked about North Korea related to the Olympics, I had difficulty in answering because I understood the weight of the issue.", he expressed his interest in the international affairs. At the press conference, when he was asked about (people's) expectation for the parade in Sendai, he made aloud an unexpected response, "Please spend a lot of money in Sendai!". "Because I know that the parade is costly and there is special support for it." I had imagined he was fed up with being chased by the media, but he said "Fortunately, I have been getting interviews from around 10 years old, and I have organized my thoughts and learned new words by doing them. That is how I've made myself, and that is how I've been made.", self-analysis that hit the journalists. I had the conception that he was "other-worldly honorable prince", so I was surprised to learn about his side of social awareness with public knowledge. I asked him softly in the elevator, "Do you drink alcohol?". He answered clearly, "I can not drink it because of my constitution. But it is not necessary at all." For some reasons, I was ashamed of myself and had no choice but to give a little nod.
He can't drink alcohol because he's allergic to it? Did I understand it correct. And this run in on him was very interesting. Yuzu is a dignified and wise young man. I don't blame the ladies falling for him.

Yes, he was surprised in a good way (as Interspectator said) and I also found this column interesting since it had different tone from what we usually read. I guess the man was not familiar with figure skating and Yuzuru's personality while he knew Yuzuru was a great and popular figure skater (with gold medals and cute looks ). It's refreshing to read these people's impression of Yuzuru once in a while. :)

Great news! He is going to be busy in April I believe.

Yes, that's what he said in the past :)

Oh, thank you.

It´s nice that people value his personality :)

In another note, a fan is doing a poll on the step from Romeo & Juliet 1.0 or SEIMEI, if you want to vote

Thank you for the info, I didn't know Chafik had practiced 4A. Wish these two skaters safe training

Arthur Dmitriev Jr actually tried one at a recent competition, though it was a downgrade with a fall. It was the first 'official' 4A (albeit <<) in a protocol, I think.

Wasn't it CoR where Yuzu was also competing? So I'm sure that didn't get by him.

No, he wasn't at Rostelecom. I think he tried 4A recently in a Russian national competition, I forget which one.

Edit: It was the Russian Cup Final on 19-23 February. Protocol (5th skater).

If someone landed 4A before him Yuzu would be so mad ahah he would attempt a 5A 😂

Are they gonna sell tshirts like last time?

5A-challenge: Yuzu could become the first astronaut skater to land a tano-quintuple jump with moonwalk-entrance :laugh2:
But I doubt that the JAXA or any other aeronautics agency would build an extra ice rink on the moon for him

Joking aside: Do you guys think, there's still any skater, who dares to attempt a 4A in competition after Yuzu's official challenge?
I fear, he (or she?!? ) would successfully set whole Japan and a furious legend against himself :hopelessness::laugh:

Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-18 Season

He might go for a combo. That's still a first :P.

Or, depending on how the first 4A landed is scored, first 4A with positive GOE, first 4A landed in the backhalf... [emoji23]

I think they are going to do something, the fans replied to that tweet suggesting the idea of selling T shirts or DVD (sounds nice!). I've already heard the hotels are booked almost fully on the weekends of late April
