Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Looking at the fans' comments in TV news of the parade, I honestly wanted to hear more about Yuzuru's skating, but as Danibellerika mentioned, those comments must have been cut. If I was asked "How do you like Hanyu?" (Japanese media loooves this question, you know), I would say "His jumps, they are exactly the art themselves. And the spins, so beautiful with delicate arm and finger movements. And his footwork...". But perhaps, media will stop me and say, "He is cute, isn't it?" and I'll say "Of course, he is cute!"

Yes, they do seem to love asking about this! Danibellerika and I went on quite a bit about what we liked about Yuzuru's skating yet at the Olympics and I don't think a single bit of it made the cut! They did ask us if we thought he was cute and maybe our answer wasn't what they were hoping for because that also didn't make the cut :p.

There was new small fluff mixed in one of the parade news, I think it was taken on the same day as he did the press con for foreign press. Yuzuru was answering a reporter while he was walking back to the entrance of Fuji TV after he had done the live interview at their studio (and this is all my guess from seeing it and we don't know the reporter's questions.).

"Honestly, I had my own image that a little piece was piled up and gathered as a crystal. But eventually, it was like I eliminated the extra stuff. It was a little unexpected that I had process of keep polishing the core of my feeling 'I want to win'".

"I've learned my way to be strong, so I will keep testing it and hope it (my skating?) will be more refined."
(A reporter: Do you mean you can still go up?)
"Of course I can still go up, I won't do it if I can't."

Keep being strong, Yuzu.

I will take this as an indication that his injury has the best chances to fully heal.
Personally I think Yuzu is the type to challenge whenever he can. It might not be for Beijing 2022, but whatever his goals are I will believe in him.
I need to find the interview after PC when he said that if he does decide to go to 2022, he would want/try to win.
Come to think of it is very Yuzuru, why compete if you have no desire to win? Give everything your best shot. Such an inspiration.
:ghug:

From: Nagakubo Yutaka – May I take a picture? Series
The wind was blowing. It was a new wind –– different from the warm winds that, pregnant with the enthusiasm of the 108,000-strong crowd, had been so far. The procession was drawing near. Spurring cheers and shrieks of joy [along its way], at a pace slower than an amble, it was drawing near. That new breeze flapped the hems of the waving Yuzuru Hanyu’s blazer and set the greenery behind him swaying. “Sendai, this town that raised him, how beautiful it is. And truly, what a miracle it is, that we could have this day,” I thought.

What day of May is the P and G talk? He might have to stay in Japan if it is early May rather than going back and forth

I also want to know about the date because I applied for the live viewing (but I don't think I can win the lottery), but it has not been announced yet. Probably it will be announced together with the date of talk show in June.

Thank you :)

It's morning here and it is raining so hard in Kanto area :sad46: I think the garden party starts after the noon, so I hope the weather will be better, I'm worried about the Emperor and Empress and ladies' Kimono (and of course, Yuzuru lol).

If rain continues what would they do?

I've read that the garden party in the fall (they have two in a year) in 2016 was cancelled but I don't remember the reason. After the cancellation, the medalists at Rio Olympics were invited in the spring of 2017. I searched for the photos of the garden party and there were some with the participants were with umbrellas, so I think it will be held as planned unless the weather is like a typhoon. I hope they all are safe and have good time.

Just checked Tokyo weather forecast...it seems the weather will turn at noon and it may be cloudy instead of rainy? Fingers crossed. Will Yuzu's weather luck hold for the Garden party?

Fingers crossed!! I believe in Yuzuru's weather luck
