Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

I think what caused the drama was the message where Misha tried to be a Parent figure to all the fans saying - you shouldn't do this, behave. And fans went "oh who the hell are you to tell us what to do". Just turn the comments off or don't write those long parental guidance messages. Seriously. You can't teach people manners like that these days with all the social media "I post= I influence= My needs are faultless". Nope. Look what some other girls on FaOI do- picture and a short nice message. Period. Fans come and say- thank you. No drama.

Well Misha could have turned the comments off as Javier does at times when fans get nasty and keep the post. Brian Orser just ignores some nasty messages on his IG account as I've noticed. And boy oh boy what some crazy people write in there...:eeking::roll5:

SNS can be a cesspool of assholes hiding behind screennames and using any opportunity to attack, judge and humiliate. This of course isn’t everyone, but quite a few fall into this category.

If a celebrity is going to be on SNS, they must have a tough skin and be able to ignore the trolls and manage fan demands. If a celebrity can’t deal with that then they don’t need to be on there.

Yuzuru has been very wise to stay away from any form of SNS. Actually, I think any celebrity that does is this is commendable, considering how this medium eventually tends to reflect badly on fans and celebrities.

This is a lot of drama:drama: I feel bad for both of them but especially Yuzu, he can't catch a break , even when he does nothing.
I found the ig post from Misha very sweet, but I could see some people on japanese twitter being like :frown: Esentially the thing about the fans...I think that if Yuzu is uncomfortable with something related to his fans he can speak for himself.
I only hope that this dont hurt Yuzuru or his friends, and that they can be friendly as always.

No, Yuzu really doesn't need to get any public SNS as long as he is still a competitive athlete and a bit afterwards. He'd be very very disappointed in the humankind. I think he already is, a bit. But just... don't, save your time and nerves and keep your head cool. People are nosy as hell and don't respect privacy anymore. Stay private, dear Yuzu. We will love you anyways.:luv17:

Please, yes, let him stop posting about Yuzuru Hanyu. Please.

He won't have to "put up with disrespectful fans" and in turn we will lose out on him writing about his private conversations with Yuzuru during his recovery when he told him about the light ahead after the dark times, and we'll miss out on lecturing the fans on privacy etc here and there because apparently tons of positivity is just not enough, when there're a few messy people, as there always are, in literally every social media situation, on literally every post that is in regard to some celebrity.
Yes, that is so, so terrible, that he needs to throw a fit, and create even more drama on SNS. How ironic really, considering some of the stuff he's posted. Oh and btw, if you think the Japanese twitter didn't react to his little passive-aggressive post, think again.

Since he doesn't know how to turn off comments, and doesn't know how to ignore them, then stopping is the best.

So yes, please, he can post about a million other things and everyone's happy. Right? No more disrespectful Hanyu fans who can in turn apparently be super respectful on posts of one Oda for example because something or other. Woo.

Why do you feel the need to defend these kind of disrespectful comments from some Yuzuru fans and put the blame on Misha for the drama caused. Whether he wants to ignore them is his choice not for you to say whether he should.

I can and will comment on the drama he himself causes, when it concerns Yuzuru and his apparently terrible fans.

Um I searched those comments on Instagram after 1st post ,90 % were polite, thanking Misha. I searched today too before he deleted his post and I found 2-3 bad comments... why you should make drama about 3 people when 90 is thanking you. that is my point. The bad thing about this is that he put entire fandom in one big bad pot. This made angry many good people.

PS I hope some of the posts from this thread will be deleted, fanfests are created to celebrate skater, not discussing random drama from twitter inhere , for that we can pm each other, create group chat in messenger and such.. many ways of communication in modern era.

Oh thank you, I didn't read all the comments so I was kind of surprised he wanted to delete the photo. But I was one of those who didn't like the tone of the message too. Truth is- we all are different, and most of Yuzu fans are pretty modest people and nice, just like him. There was no need to write that long "keep your noses off my famous friend life" message. IMHO;)

I was not eager to read the way it has been worded to be honest. it sounded rather blaming addressed to entire fandom. I think if you are not enough strong to handle some abusive fans, all sns have one majestic option: "turn off comments" or "mute" "block" rude people.

Umm, this turned out longer than expected...

It seems to me that for most people in FS - the skaters, the friends, the coaches and team people like Brian, the general fans who've been here for a long or short time - no one knows quite how to handle the sheer level of superstardom fame around Yuzuru, and the way it is fed into in the current world of media saturation and sheer media speed (I mean, even at the height of pre-Oly Chen-hype it didn't equal what Yuzuru was ninja-hiding from at the same time and it's gotten way bigger since then. And yes, Yuna Kim was as big, but social media wasn't) and fannish expectation and entitlement (we may not like the latter, but anyone from another fandom knows it's not going away).

And it's centred around a very young and complicated man who we really don't know but people think they do, who handles the attention and everything like a pro twice his age, who may like and grab the spotlight in public, but otherwise is very private and clearly wants his off-ice life to himself as far as he can get it.

Javi and now Evgenia - both first and worst in the firing line around him - had to learn fast to blanket ignore it, and it's a little sad that they had to but kudos to them for managing it; their relationships with Yuzu are now pretty blatantly None Of Our Business. Brian is finding every word and action instantly analysed for "how will it affect Yuzu?" (and it appears pre-Olympics worked on lying like a champ to protect him). Nobu and Plushy get away with being funny/famous-in-his-own-right fanboys. The other skaters - most of whom have grown up putting their whole lives on social media - will get there in their own way (I wonder a little about Jason, never heard anything about him deleting pics pre-TCC but then he isn't a part of the shipping wars, I guess - and I can't see him lecturing fans myself as Misha unwittingly did)

I can't help thinking that even if he wasn't a hermit/homebody by nature, Yuzu would be inclined to embrace the lifestyle for the time being in pure self-defence. It MAY calm down by the time the season starts up...

I was surprised Misha deleted the post  Kanazawa was the last stop of FaOI for Misha, I hope he and Yuzuru will keep in touch as they have.

Thank you, this is what I had wanted to know about some Misha's posts because I don't follow him on Instagram. And people who don't follow him must have been confused and felt frustrated (?) reading his posts, because they did nothing but been told "you are bad". Instagram is not everything after all. I hope he'll be able to find the peace in doing it somehow.

Will yuzu continue skating wings of words now with Chemistry gone? What usually happened in the past? :scratch2:

I think he will skate to different song because another artists perform from Kobe :)

I wonder if Yuzu started to work on a new SP at least before he went to Japan for FaOI. As long as next week we will get the idea of what ISU had in their crazy mind he could start to shape it and cook it with Brian being there and.. is Jeff their too/ will be there as well for the latest FaOI shows in tour? Maybe we could get a sneak peek of it, raw draft version? Umm... Or maybe not, cause I doubt he'll have his costume done by the time...

Jeff participates in all shows of FaOI, so yes, they are able to do choreo if they have time

The matter with Misha is really sad. I wish he hadn’t paid attention to the few bad comments regarding him and Yuzu. I saw nothing wrong in his messages, but I do feel sad that he paid that much attention to a few zealot “fans” (let’s face it there are not real fans) who don’t know when to mind their business.
I hope he’ll realize (if he hadn’t already) that it’s impossible to please and/or be liked by everyone, and that the best thing to do is just to ignore the nasty people.

Regarding future Yuzu’s appearance, when is the Heroes of the Future show again? It is between a few FaOI dates, right?

See below: there are three shows and yuzu will only attend the ones on 9th and 10th. Unsurprisingly only those two shows sold out.
6月 8日(金)17:00開場/18:00開演
6月 9日(土)12:00開場/13:00開演(完売しました)
6月10日(日)12:00開場/13:00開演(完売しました) Here's the official website for more detail http://www.abn-tv.co.jp/heroes-future/

Heros is next week end, and then the weekend after it is Kobe Fantasy on ice.

I too, wish to focus on the positive things we saw last night in the show. Yuzu's interactions with other skaters, and skating seemed more happy, and intense and joyful than the previous days. 99% of his interactions with other skaters and fans were adorable and fun.

It is human nature to focus on a negative thing. But that just blows it up and makes it seem as if it is the only thing. The more we deconstruct and talk about fan's reactions, or Misha's reaction to fan's reactions to a photo with Yuzu will make it seem like it's a big deal, when it is one photo on an instagram, the more it grows, when it doesn't have to. part of the definition of of giving skaters space, is letting them post a thing you don't agree with and not jumping on it right away and trying to find fault. This is just my opinion.

Mostly, what I remember from last night, was Yuzu being like this https://twitter.com/rochouyuzumi/status/1003330220819017728 He was happy with his skater friends, and the fans were happy too. :ghug:

This post should be a PSA... Especially the bit in the middle :P Maybe Evgenia got some lessons from Javi at SOI Japan on how to handle the craziness...

Social media/fandom is SUCH a tricky thing. I would not want my worst enemy to deal with what it sounds Yuzu (and anyone associated with him) deals with.

He looks like he's having SUCH a good time during the Wings of Words number. I dig the style of music and hope that maybe he can do a program with thing kind of song this kind of romantic/ballad/jazz.... It just seems like a good fit.

ETA: That 3A out of all those pretty steps, is bomb.
