Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Since Misha removed the photo of him and Yuzu, (with the attached post) I want to respect that he doesn't want this to be rehashed by fans. This kind of thing is not improved by outside intervention or discussion in my opinion.
It is something they can decide about themselves best without out-side pressure. Yuzu did deny any tabloid rumors about his romantic life so there's no need to discuss that either.

I'm not disagreeing with your post by the way, :) sometimes, my posts seem too pointed against something.
I agree that it is concerning to fans, and we all have our opinions on the matter. But this thread is just not for this kind of dissection of fans opinions or disagreements in general. It comes into the thread sometimes, in the flow of conversation, but this thread is about Yuzuru most of all, not the fans. Does that make sense?

Yes, it does! I understand what you mean and I‘m normally of the same opinion. It was just that I was so annoyed when I wrote this post that I couldn‘t contain myself. Happens sometimes, I guess. But I do know that this thread is supposed to be about Yuzu and not some rumours about him. So, let‘s move on. :)

Oh my god, hahaha, who on Earth sits like that while everything‘s busy around them? I just can‘t... :laugh2:

And: Thank you, I already read it. :)

The ISU congress is discussing quads right now and I'm trying to imagine what Yuzu and Shoma's new programs would be like in two alternate universes. It's time to collapse the wave-form!

The no repeat quads proposal makes NO SENSE especially when presented as a way to increase variety. Apparently Russia was the only big Fed that raised objections - c'mon Japan, Canada! Where are you??

There were some strong arguments against. The vote will be held on Thursday, but I have hope it will not pass.
-I do want Yuzu to try the 4A and other skaters to try new quads, but I think the 'no-repeat' rule will put the wrong kind of pressure on skaters. We'll need to wait till Thursday.

And on top of that poor Yuzu was forced to stand up again and move to the second row, because the front seats were reserved for the ladies

No repetition of quads for (a) more variety and (b) rewarding skaters with different quads
I thought, ISU wanted to make major changes to balance technique and artistry in the first place...?! (Oh, how naive I was...)

To (a): As far as I know, you are only allowed to repeat two quads in total anyway, so in worst case you have to exchange two jumps (out of 12)... Whoah... I can smell the increasing variety already... :p
To (b): Yep, a new TES record of 127 points is not enough reward. What.

How many skaters are affected by that rule btw.? The only two skaters, who repeated two quads at OWG were Nathan and Yuzu. Both could add the 4Lo to their arsenal and I'm sure they will anyway. Repetition won't be a major issue in their cases.

So we're basically talking about the repetition of ONE quad in a program with 12 jumps. In other words: we take away 10 points from a skater, who has one or two solid quads in his arsenal and needs every single point to stay competitive. Good job. :palmf: I really hope, they burn this suggestion.

The no repetition rule is so stupid. I have faith though that Yuzu will succeed no matter the rules :) he’s just that talented

It was confirmed that Yuzuru would not participate in Dream On Ice starts from July 6 to July 8.

"Yuzuru Hanyu, who we had been negotiating the appearances, is not able to appear on Dreams on Ice 2018."

Ugh - so stupid and distances the have from the have nots. It will not impact the Yuzu, Nathan, Shoma and Boyangs that already have 3 or more quads but it will make it ever more difficult for those with only a 4T to be competitive. And will essentially push more of the men to try quads that they are not ready to take on and lead to more injuries which is exactly when the Armenian rep said.

“The air changes as soon as Yuzuru Hanyu appears in the hall. Even though he is practicing, there is a presence that everyone can’t take eyes off. Once he skates, the supple body shines as if it were emitting light. Enjoy unique beauty the photos that captured in this moment.” (…)
There are some really beautiful photos.

Haha the appreciation is real.
I think that if Yuzu is not how he is, and is the type to capitalize his popularity, we would probably see a lot more photoshoots and endorsements. I like the way he is now though :)
