Though in Russia it does end up being a competition.

No it doesn't. It's the reaction to those skates from some agitated fans that make it sound like a competition when in the reality it is not. And most of actual skates look like sketches of the programs.

It's certainly doing dubious things to the fannish hove mind's state of mind.... problem is, he'll announce the programs and music and then we'll drive ourselves crazy trying to work out how the program will work, what he'll wear...
I love the costume reveals. The grasp and excitement of everyone there. Then we got nitpickers online complaining. 😂

They are never boring, are they? Even for shows - the collective gasp that met that first photo of Doryzu was hysterical (and I personally cannot wait for the, umm, more staid sections of skating fandom's reaction to Haru yo koi, though I shouldn't be surprised if that changes somewhat before the first competition gala)

So shall we play a game? First, what are everyone's favourite costumes - if you had to pick say three? Mine would be Etude (just edging out Hope&legacy for the most purely beautiful), Seimei (the most recent Olympic incarnation) and - never mind the critics - the silver/gold Phantom.

second, which do you think is most "only, only Yuzu?" For me, Requiem....

My three favorite costumes would be Seimei 1.0, Etude and R&J 1.0

Only, only Yuzu pick is The Final Time Travelor

My three favorites are the latest Seimei, PW 2.0, and POTO 2.0.

The only Yuzu costumes are probably the ones that I hate so I don't choose any in this category

My fave costumes are probably Seimei 2, Chopin 3 and The Swan (And I really, really like R&J 2 and the Dory costume),

The only Yuzu ones are The Final Traveler (gosh that was hideous, it's the only costume of his that I truly, truly despise hahaha) and Zigeunerweisen.

I like a lot the fact that he goes all out on his costumes, which cannot be said for a lot of male skaters

The Final Time Traveller is one of the few I don't like, but mainly because of my firm and fixed belief (which I do not expect the world to abide by) that powder blue should not be worn by anyone over six and under seventy six...

Just for the sake of it... that talk in the other thread about world records reminded me of this video, of Yuzu reacting to his first eleven (eleven!) WRs...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHF2sLbI7D4

And it could be updated with the ACI 2017. A nice even dozen before the reset for 2019... has anyone else ever broken that many?

That’s an amazing video montage and I love his emotional reactions to them! It really shows another example of his passion for the sport and how much it means to him! [emoji106]

The only other skater I know who has broken WR’s as many times as Yuzuru is Evgenia, who according to her wiki page has broken WR’s 13 times. [emoji4]

Now I want Yuzu and Zhenya to pose on the ice back to back with their arms folded, looking triumphant, surrounded by smashed up records (like music records).

And then go on to break some more....

Actually, in the last quad or so, I don't think I've hated a single Yuzu costume (competitive programs only of course). In fact, I kinda like them. It's extra, but in a good way of course. And, yes, that includes the purple pants. I really like it actually. :o:

Edit:

Stephen Gogolev talking about Yuzu
It's refreshing to see how blunt he is
"He's Japanese so he doesn't speak much English." :laugh2:

Sounds like Yuzu is really focused on his training whilst at the club. [emoji2]

Maybe he's forgotten about the little thing called media day...

(What do you think will come first, that or us reaching 100 pages on the new thread?)

100 pages. --Though again, I'm glad he didn't drop his programs yet. I was out of wi-fi reach for the last week and just came back.
He can announce his programs any time now.

It was confirmed that Yuzuru's segment of 24 hours TV would be from around 20:30 on the next Saturday, it is the same as the previous years and exactly the prime time for the public viewers :) There might be some sneak peek so I will watch the program from the beginning, it will start around 18:30.

Any idea which channel on Fuji? (I'm mentally adjusting hours for me...)
