Did he say why? I'm torn between being happy as it may mean he wants to savour competitions after his involuntary absence, and being paranoid if it might mean some kind of goodbye plan... My gut says the former though. I don't think the 4A is easy to get competition-ready.

My vote goes to option c) He's just very competitive :laugh:
And yes: I think, he wants to give something back to his fans after all the withdrawals last season.

4A: the truth is, we don't know anything about Yuzu's attempts and progress yet. It could take years, it could be ready for next season... who knows... But I don't think that Yuzu's end of career depends on this jump only (Olympic Channel would cry rivers, if their new favorite Twitter face left the world stage next year already :laugh2:)

Take it from one who once had to be forced out of an ice rink in tears... because I had to miss my lesson, not because I had a giant, bleeding blade cut: he probably can't wait to get back. Being the best is addictive. :laugh: And I was only the best in a children's basic skills class. He's the best EVER. (I can say that in his fan fest, right!? :laugh:)

Has said so himself, not that he was telling us anything new... the 4CC gold might appeal as a pretty he doesn't have yet (I think he has dragon blood myself, he does seem to love his golden hoard...) And he simply loves being on the ice, even when he's not well - you could see it in the Olympics, we now know he was in pain but his joy at being there are competing was palpable.

They really do love the clicks he brings.....

I agree with you, I believe Hanyu still has plenty of interest in competing. Just as examples he has a world championships in his home country this season which will give him extra motivation to do well, and as you said winning his first four continents gold would surely be a delight for him. [emoji106]

I wonder why a four continents gold has always alluded him?

He always had injuries. He either skipped them or was in bad condition / circumstances.

But 4CC being in US would favour Nathan Chen. So I'm not sure I want to see Nathan win over Yuzu again..

But would Brian encourage Yuzu to go? Or would he get Yuzu to focus on Worlds?

US is close to TCC, so maybe.

But I remember the tickets were sooooo expensive.

Yes, I've seen that mentioned several times, they must be really hoping for Yuzu and Nathan both to sign on, but if Yuzu decides not to I'm not even sure Nathan, Shoma and Boyang combined (if they did decided to all go) could bring the same drawing power without him right now...

Maybe.

But I doubt it, he's just on another level.

https://twitter.com/yuzu_pino/status/1033901197738921984 a little more footage of the Sendai Figure skaters giving Yuzu a Pooh Bear and a card.

And again with the sweetness and sugar overloading :thank: Those kids are adorable, and obviously determined that if Disney wasn't going to provide a Pooh, they 'd make up the oversight....

Exactly. What were US Fed thinking when they put up the Ticket Prices? Somehow they seem sure that Yuzu is going to come, with that confidence of boosting ticket sales to sky heights... It makes me hope that he is finally gonna go to 4CC and win his first 4CC Gold this season.

Timing, maybe? He's worn out from the Grand Prix series (and Olympics/Olympic training, depending on the year)?
Looking at his three 4CC appearances so far:
2011: his first senior year. Silver at 4CC was his biggest success at that point of his career.
2013: first season under Brian Orser. Yuzu was first after the short, but Kevin Reynolds could beat him in the free with the skate of his life.

Then a HUGE gap.

2017: Test event for Olympics in PC. Yuzu desperately wanted to win here, you could see his incredible determination in the free, where he changed the entire second half of his program:
3A+2T ---> 3A+3T
3A+1Lo+3S ---> 4T+2T
3Lz ---> 3A
He couldn't have done this miracle, if he hadn't been 100% fit here. Plus it was the first time I can remember, where Yuzu looked surprised and annoyed that he has not won. That makes Nathan's victory extra special.

I feel, Yuzu wants revenge here (especially after the second defeat at CoR)...

I still think the accident at the hotel (he cut his eyelid on the day of FS) affected him but of course he didn't make any excuse :thumbsup: And Kevin's performance was great, so I will not complain ;)

My friend and I watched him live in the arena. We, too, were a bit surprised that he did not win this but that's life... :bang:

Thanks for explaining why! [emoji4] Now I know he’s only competed there 3 times there’s no wonder why he hasn’t yet won 4CC. The remarkable thing is he still managed to win silver each time! Let’s hope he can win it this year! [emoji106]

Woah! When did Yuzu ever cut his eyelid? That is horrible!

He accidentally hit the door of the hotel when he was interacting with his fans (we don't know how since we were not there), you can see the band aid on his eyelid in FS. I hope the same thing won't happen again.

Thanks! Didn't know that, I always wondered what happened to him there. Poor boy...

I wouldn't be surprised, if 4CC turned out to be the most thrilling event in 2019 :laugh:
Everyone trying to prevent Yuzu from winning his first 4CC gold and completing his career super Grand Slam :laugh2:
