That is fine, I mean, he is under no obligation to please the media any more, not that he ever was.
But I agree he does seem a bit withdrawn, he has been like that ever since the pre season start.

Thank you. I felt confused to be honest, not by him but by the fact that no one seem to understand my feelings. :ghug:
 
I've just finished watching ACI on CS TV asahi. When a reporter asked him, "Are you going to do all jumps in the first half of the program all through the season?", he answered "ummm......ummmm.....I myself think it is fine as it is because the program is more beautiful in that way." But I'm really curious about his hesitation in the answer :laugh:

He actually made the best out of the music piece. I was worried that all we could get is a repeated main theme and it is not that rich to my ear and a bit old fashioned. He's definitely not in his good shape yet. I don't say best because it is quite impossible given the lack of training he had due to a long rest after the Olympic Games and he's probably worn out more than previous years. Two Olympic Games with the highest aim ever- who would blame him for a few mistakes?
I also feel that some judges aim to follow the new rules more strictly which unfortunately do not apply to every competition we've seen so far during this season but well. If they see a gap in Hanyu- they take notice. Not that bad. Some judges just always loved to bite his scores whenever they could. And the performance was really charming but it had a few noticeable flaws.
From what I've learned from the interview he gave after the practice (?) he had been following the judging during this season Junior Grand Prix series, so he's not really in a I don't care about scores anymore state of mind. And one more detail: journalists noticed he has a swollen finger on his arm which is from a 1.5 months ago ice incident. That is bad, Mr Hanyu, you've probably treated it with the ice solely. Go see a doctor for your poor finger! I say that because my colleague had a minor issue which lasted for a few months and he finally had to get a small surgery for his long term swollen finger which he thought was just nothing. Yuzu please take good care of yourself.
And the costume wasn't that shocking to me but it looks a bit too short cut over the waist, beautiful silver embroidery detailing and usual Yuzu love with frills and stuff. A bit more theatrical than usual. Well... he had studied a lot of old 6.0 judging system figure skating this summer. I get the inspiration.

Dearest reporter- thank you so much! See... he did that jump placing for beauty but he still has doubts if he wants to skate for himself or win with a beautiful program. Yes, that's Yuzu I know.
 
I just finished watching Japanese TV coverage of Yuzu’s SP (closer up and with the Kiss and Cry). The commentators said Yuzu looked happy throughout the program, so that is enough for me. Good luck on the LP Yuzu, I shall stay up!:coffee:

I feel like people may have misinterpret him a little. What I understood on media day was more like he wants to jump the 4A, skate for himself now and focus on the quality of the program performance more than the scores. That is not the same as saying he doesn't care about the scores - focusing on something else does not equate not caring about the other. But that is somehow how people have read his words in forums and in japan media too, and I wonder if that contributed to the judges attitude towards him today. The skating world is small, what one says get transmitted quickly and sometimes incorrectly. I guess that is also why he seems a bit lost today at how to phrase himself in fear he says something wrong again.

I think he may also have thought with his two Olympic gold, judges will be judging him more appropriately and he can now be a bit more "himself". Unfortunately, he got a bit of reality check today that he is not going to be afforded that luxury. I guess better getting that message now rather than at the GP series. But it is a pity he may be forced to maximise BV again such as re-cutting the Otonal music (which I think is perfect as it is now) to shift the combo to the second half, or not trying the 4T-3A which he likes.
 
Maybe I'm a bit old fashioned, but I love the music; I love the program how it's now (the spins are amazing and though not the best yesterday, they will be with more time), the StSq is sooo beautiful. The performance was really charming and it's the first! He looked like he was enjoying and that's the more important thing. And the costume, no words :love:
 
it wasn't his best ever 3A, but transitions were extremely hard, I don't understand GOE on 4S. It was beatifull jump with transitions in and out, should have been at least 4+

Yeah, I've read that too. I think he wouldn't cut the music different but he has a version 2 of this program elements placement wise already. I wish they'd ask Jeffrey about it but I'm not sure if he'd say anything cause I feel like it's Hanyu's full authority to talk about strategies right now.
 
The reaction to the costume reveal this time was a bit much for me, but it’s always entertaining. I’ve gone to ACI 3 years in a row now. My favorite of course was the white Prince reveal because half the room didn’t see he had white pants on until he stepped onto the ice from the boards.

Last year with Chopin it was more confused reaction since he wore an old costume, this year the reaction was extremely drawn out!
 
he seems serious about doing 4T3A today, already practicing 3F2T from spread eagle in place of first 3A
 
His FS duration time was announced as 4 mins 15 sec, I wonder if those 5 seconds would cause him a deduction? Isn't it plus-minus 10 sec maximum according to the rules?

But he is taking a lot time in opening pose not moving

Anyway, he is going to do 4T3A today, landed nice 4lo, 4T, 4S3T 4T3A in run trough
