Yes please. I like the sequence and it have never been seen in competition. He look so smooth doing it too. Well during practice anyways. 😁

Continue to grow stronger, we are set to wait for him again in GP this November.

He certainly did ! Fearless junior like a little proud lion , even I am from the East too which means being familiar with the cultures, but still at first look His delicate appearance didn't make me thinking about him as wild and dominate. Orser mentioned couple of times that Yuzu might be too much intense in his opinion.
I remember Orser said something like '' Most of time you keep the water warm by low heat and only turn up the heat when you needed hot water, however the young Yuzu was on high like boiling water everyday x 24 hour and eventually being dried out and exhausted when competitions came.''

Physically I am not in hospital however my spirits had kept in ''prison'' for so long like there was no future no tomorrow.

The whole off season of this summer I watched his documentaries and read interviews and books about him, it helped me to find direction and my real origin. More and more I gain the strength and will to heal.

I love the warm brown tone of his free program costume which reflects his maturity in my eyes, I did not know he also fits warm tone color so well because I always see him as wind and cool water.

Will it be properly ratified as a combo sequence?
 
Guys lottery for worlds 2019 is now open.
I am gonna try my luck again. Hopefully i get it this time.

Combo and sequence are to different things :) There will be 4T-3ASEQ written on a protocol and he will receive 80% of total base value of 4T and 3A. So instead of getting 17.5 points (9.5+8), he will receive 14 points +GOE. But it still will be ratified.

It would probably make more sense to use that 4T somewhere else to get the whole BV and do -3A sequence with another triple. But doing -3A sequence with a quad is more impressive :biggrin:
 
It occurred to me when reading some of the ACI threads and comments here and elsewhere... we all know that Yuzuru is crazy brave in a lot of ways, but when you think of it, just coming back to competition this year, as a living legend with that probably unbeatable peak of the 2nd Oly gold when injured and everything... probably knowing that he was going to find his first competition hard (he always does) and building his stamina, his programs up under the spotlight of fan/media gazing (and sadly, critics and detractors just waiting for an excuse to say he's already past it)...

Just stepping out after all those months and all that pain and work onto that small, seemingly less important rink, when he doesn't have to prove or achieve anything by doing so and could have failed... was crazy brave to the nth degree in a way.

There's a reason most sports stars that reach that level of 'the best, the very best' retire at the peak. They don't want (and who can blame them?) the risk to their reputation.

He's got so much cold hard courage, our Yuzu.

Yes! Same problem with 4-4 combos. BV would be the same, but in terms of GOE it's better to do a solo quad and a 4-3 combo than a 4-4 and solo triple... even though it's harder and more spectacular...


I've calculated some BV's (without spins and sequences):
The current layout (4Lo, 4T, 3Lo, 4S+3T // 4T+1Lo+3S, 3A+2T, 3A) has a BV of 73.56.

Now a suggestion with that Axel-sequence:
4Lo, 4T, 3F, 4S+3T // 3Lo+1Lo+3S, 4T+3A+SEQ, 3A
BV: 74.07. (Yuzu has landed that 3Lo+1Lo+3S combo successfully at ACI 2015 already, so... he could give it another go.)

With 4A it could be like this:
4A, 4T, 4Lo, 4S+3T // 3Lo+1Lo+3S, 4T+3A+SEQ, 3A
BV: 81.27. No Flip or Lutz needed ;)


At the end of the day it will be something completely different for sure :popcorn:

His layout from media day looked like that: 4Lo, 4T, 3Lo, 4S-3T, 4T-eu-3S, 3A-2T, 3A.
He was jumping 3F-2T during practice at ACI so I think he wanted to include it and replace 3A-2T. So in my opinion he wanted to do 4Lo, 4T, 3Lo, 4S-3T, 4T-3A, 3F-2T, 3A. He couldn't do 3F-3T because he already had one 3T in a combo with 4T and skaters can only repeat one quad and one triple (in Yuzuru's case he repeats 4T and 3A).

But it's possible that he wanted to jump 3F-3T after he fell on 4S. Actually I think that he popped 4T because he couldn't decide what to do :laugh: Should he jump 4T-3A and then 3F-3T or 4T-3T and then 3A-2T?

He probably lost concentration because of that. And after that pop, he could do 3A-3T instead of 3A-2T but he probably didn't have energy for that.
4Lo, 4T, 3Lo, 4Sfall, 2t, 3A-3T, 3A He could add another 3T to last 3A since he hadn't repeated 4T. Technically he could even do 3A-3T-2T but he didn't plan on doing 3 jump combo at ACI and he still had to do 2 spins after that so there was no time for that. And his landing on last 3A wasn't so good.





If you think about it, his layouts have always been risky. By doing 4T first, he risks repetition in case he falls on second 4T. It would make more sense to jump combination first. Now he doesn't get second-half bonus for his 4S-3T so there's no reason to do it so late. He could do 4Lo, 4T-3T, 3Lo, 4S, 4T-3A, 3F-2T, 3A. Smaller risk of repetition and more chances to attach somewhere -3T in case he falls. But then when you consider his plan for adding 4A, it makes sense because he needs more room in a first half and more time for recovery. Maybe he plans to do 3F in a second half because he wants to improve it even more and have a correct edge even when he is tired. Maybe he wants to try eu-3F combo sometime. Or add one more revolution and aim for six different quads in the future :drama:. I don't think that 3F is in a second half without any reason. We will see in Helsinki what he will do :) I hope he will add a 3 jump combo while keeping 4T-3A sequence

In the case of a SEQ, does the 10% bonus get added before or after the 80% is calculated?

Like Ted said he had a little wabble on the back edge before entering the toeloop. Remember his fall on 4 L last year and the effect on his right foot ? This fall looked similar, I breathed in hard when I saw it. He was not certain if his right foot could tolerate the landing of a 4 T . How I see the whole situation: He wanted to do 4 T + 3 A. Maybe one day he will tell us what he thought after this 4 S fall and what he had in mind.
