This time its not in Canada. Or Russia(2017).
He used to do Skate Canada as his 1st GP, then tried Russia. Same results.
Finland's a lucky place for him though, won his GPs, WC there.

Let's just say I think it's pretty likely he breaks first GP curse.
 
Happy for Yuzuru, he looked amazing! His performances bring tears to my eyes every time, I don't even care about scores, he has transcended the sport, now he is something beyond. Sometimes I feel lucky for living in a time where Yuzuru Hanyu exists. He is one of a kind. :luv17:

I didn’t mind COC 2011 too much. He was 16 year old, only second year of him going senior and just a few months after the earthquake. It didn’t bother me at all that he was in 4th place.

and congratulations Yuzu for the best SP ever at his first GP ..now let's do it again in free ! Yey for spin lvls, but i am sure he is Kuyashi about stsq lvl 3 :laugh:
 
Finally got to watch it... So happy for Yuzu, but like he said, there are still rooms for improvements. I think the spark is not all there yet, which is all cool, he should be peaking somewhere else later in the season :)
Looking forward to the free... and keeping my fingers crossed that his compatibility with Finland ice triumphs over the first GP curse.
 
Well, I now have super-sparkly blue and white nails in honor of Yuzu's new world record! :biggrin:

My cat was staring at them, looking a bit confused. He's only ever seen me with my trademark color. (As have my coworkers, here's hoping nobody faints when they see me on Monday.) :laugh:
 
Congrats to Hanyu for having a good skate in the SP. I love the choreography of the program but do not like the music at all. The costume has grown on me some. The blue of the top is gorgeous, but I think I like his LP costume more.

I wish him the best of luck in the LP!

But that's pretty much the best outcome we could hope for. Great enough for a new world record and a strong lead, but still room for improvement :agree:

And boy, his English has improved! He mastered the Q&A very nicely despite the annoying mascot question (media just can't stop bothering him with repetitions, can they? :dumb:)
 
I couldn't watch the competition live so I avaoided all media until I finished watching the replay. I got a little worried by the lean on the axel but Yuzu landed as if nothing happened :laugh:. I think he'll be fine for the FS tomorrow :).

That's classic Yuzu but I'm absolutely delighted with how he skated. Like so many, I was very nervous watching him because I was fearing disaster but he really came through today. How fortunate for the sport of figure skating that he is still choosing to compete.
