It's Sunday morning here and I can't believe we'll see Yuzuru in three or four days.
And I looked up the schedule of GPF, and if I am not wrong, SP would be on his birthday (Japan time). I hope he will skate well in Russia and be qualified for Vancouver

And I looked up the schedule of GPF, and if I am not wrong, SP would be on his birthday (Japan time). I hope he will skate well in Russia and be qualified for Vancouver

Yes, I just got home from the yearly NHK viewing party with my family, (which was miserable last year!) and we all look forward to seeing Yuzu in a few days.
Time flies when watching skating.

I can't make it for the SP due to work but at least I get to celebrate it with him during his FS on the 7th.

That is the main thing, that he is safe, healthy and happy. He had such a rough trot last year, the skating gods owe him better this one.

Yes and no.
It won’t count as a fifth consecutive win in terms of records and winners of the GPF itself, as he missed last year’s GPF due to injury and there is a 2017 GPF winner not named Hanyu. On the other hand, it will be Yuzuru’s fifth consecutive win in terms of “GPFs entered, GPFs won,” and his fifth win overall. But his streak was broken when he was injured. It’s the same at Worlds — Nathan Chen is the current World Champion, so if Yuzuru were to win this year, it wouldn’t be his second consecutive Worlds gold (again, unless the “consecutive” is couched in the language of “second consecutive win in terms of Worlds competed at,” which is straining the meaning a bit).
Not really because consecutive means back to back, regardless of the circumstances. But it would still be quite the feat. No men has won 5 GPF and out of all the fields only Davis and White have done it. Another record for Yuzu to break

Since you mentioned it, I just went to check out of curiosity. Plushenko has won GP Finals 4X. So now Yuzuru & his beloved Plu-san are tied at 4.
WC though, back in the old(x10) days, Mr Salchow has won it 10 times, for 2 countries. One Karl Shafer had won the title 7 times, consecutively, way back in 1930s.
In more modern times, Scott Hamilton won 4 times.
So, Yuzuru has....sufficient motivation to continue competing records wise.
