How adorable is Nervous Papa Yagudin there? I'm heartbroken and laughing at the same time. If I didn't know who they were and who Yuzu is, I'd say that was a dad and grandma watching their (grand)son. So heartwarming to see how supportive they are, thank you for posting.
Yuzuru call TAT his mom (jokingly of course) but she adores him. That why we have a running joke that she will adopt him one day and he can compete in the Europeans Championship 😂

:console: :ghug:

I am hoping Yuzuru will see your Happy Birthday banner in GPF even if he is staying at home

Yes, all Yagudin's comments and reaction were nice surprise for me as well, Arigatou, Yagudin-san :)

So Orser said in the most recent interview at Rostelcom that Hanyu was unlikely to ever bring the quad lutz back in competition. Which means he has 3 quads right now (4T, 4S, 4Loop), and would need a 4th to stay competitive. Banking the 4th on the Quad Axel is dubious at best. I don't see a way out of this quad conundrum.

I don't think that's an issue? Yuzu's 15-16 GPF (3 Quads, 2 Types) still hasn't been beaten by anyone else. Now his layout will probably be 4 Quads, 3 Types (with the 4Lo). "Stay competitive" isn't really true, considering only one person has more quads.

Just dropping in here to say a few words.

I don't really follow men as much as I do ladies. Although Yuzuru is one exception. I'm more of a casual fan, but I know his history. I know what he's been through. And it pains me to know he never gets a break. Injury after injury, especially at his second GP again like last year. I feel absolutely terrible that he has to go through this again. As much as I want to seem him take his GPF crown back, I rather him heal.

I've been stalking this FF for a while and it's nice to see how supportive everyone is. I wish I could show Yuzu some of the kind messages you guys have written, but I am sure he knows how much his fans support him.

Side note: Even if he doesn't go to the final, I really do hope someone hangs a "Happy Birthday" banner. Could we start a campaign to make sure that happens?

Get well, Yuzu.

I feel heartbroken to see him going through injury again.
I hope he doesn't risk and compete until full recovery.
I know he will overcome this as he always does.

Newspaper spread celebrates Yuzu's 10GP victory with snapshots of all his earlier GP wins. To cheer people up a little. https://twitter.com/yuzuporuko/status/1063897539684917248
-Side note: Wasn't Yuzu's Ina-bauer magnificent in the FS. I see photos of it on twitter, the arm variations are beautiful.

Good and fast work! :agree:

Yes, that Ina Bauer reminded me of the one from SEIMEI in Pyeongchang. Something was special about it. Relief, maybe?

Wait what?! Is this something specific to the Japanese culture or is it only something Yuzuru does (or, better said, avoids doing)?

(Sorry, I'm not familiar with this and found it a bit curious)

Not only in Japanese Culture even the Koreans actors or idol groups do this manner hands. But I wouldn't care if Yuzuru didn't do manner hands in me :o:

"I'm weak and I'm fragile but that's also Yuzuru Hanyu"

Usually I'm pretty loose about people who have less than nice things to say about him but some of the comments I saw from "commentators" after his FS made my blood pressure skyrocket. ??? When he's on top they praise him to high heavens (literally), but when he's down they kick him as if he's the dirt they walk on. I have newfound respect for Tatiana and now, Yagudin. Its no wonder Yuzu always treats Russia as a second homeland. His legacy is already cemented in stone so those people can just :dev2:

At least, I'd like commentators to be informed. I heard that they didn't know about the injury so I did not listen to their commentary. CBC had the facts so they were able to give more balanced comments.
Of course, Nobu and Shuzo were there in person, watching his practices and everything so their comments were super supportive and understanding --like they are with ALL skaters. I appreciate Nobu and Shuzo as commentators in times like this. -And Ted Barton.

Yes, that and Kurt also said some stuff after which made me say "what the beep" out loud. Factually, he's 100% wrong and talking out of his rear end.

Supportive words from TBS presenter translated here: https://twitter.com/juronom/status/1063999995051859968

I hope he withdraws from GPF and Nationals because he really needs to heal. It's great that the Japanese media can still focus on the positive side of things in light of this injury. I was heart broken yesterday with this news, but given what has happened has happened, I am also trying to think of the positive things.

To be honest when he was breaking back to back world records again yesterday I suddenly had flash backs of the 2015/2016 season. Back then Yuzuru was pushing himself to the limits and hiding his injuries during the GP series and all the injuries just accumulated and imploded at Boston. Perhaps this incident at Russia is a warning sign from his body that he is perhaps pushing himself too much again, and that he needs a bit of cooling off and leave his peak to Worlds. Obviously I wish this "cooling off" didn't come in the form of such injuries, but given what is done, he can focus on conditioning his body and strategies for Worlds, rather than GPF and Nationals (two competitions he has a lot of medals already and can afford to miss) now. I think he was mentally strong during the Olympics because he started psychologically preparing for it longer than his competitors who were still fretting about the other competitions. And the pressure he has for Worlds at home this year is probably bigger than the Olympics given his double-gold status.

Previously I thought it is not advisable for him to go 4CC because his fragile body needs a rest after competing non-stop in the GP series and Nationals, and he never mentioned about going. Now he is forced to rest earlier in the season and if he heals in time, he probably has to go (or he would have too little practice before Worlds), and hopefully he can break 4CC curse finally just like he broke the first GP silver curse. I think this season achieving things he had not achieved before is what is driving Yuzu, and probably the reason why he still competed yesterday, so as to get that two GP wins that evaded him all these years (on top of paying tribute to Russia). I just pray at the end of the season all his hard work will pay off and he can end it on a happy note.

I really thought he was in the clear and would sweep this entire season. This injury is out of the left field.

The commentators... I don't expect them to know everything before the competition given they had so many competitions to comment on, and Yuzu never officially said he was injured until after the FS. but honestly no need to act the way they did even without the knowledge of the injury. It's almost as if they have wanted to see him fail all this time and couldn't let their feelings out the moment he falls on a jump. I should have known that the reason they keep repeating in all their prior commentaries their bewilderment as to why he has not retired after the double Olympic gold is not necessarily out of admiration but .. you know.

No wonder Yuzu has to remphasise he is not retiring yesterday.

In a way he still can if he wins 4CC and Worlds. He can't be counted as losing a competition he did not participate in (GPF and Nationals). At least that is good enough for me.
