Because when add an axel as the second you make a change of direction of your whole body (from going backward to going forward). And you take off with the left skate, after landing the first jump with the right one, while combinations have to be joined right out of the landing of the first jump.

Thank you. This sounds reasonable... for other jump combinations. But how do you do a +axel combination if you don't change your foot?! Reducing the BV in this case is ridiculous.

Can I say "Where is home cooking?" again? What is 95 PCS?

I am not complaining about the placement btw, he rightfully deserved silver medal. But I was just disappointed at the score.

The final result does make me feel a bit blue, but I am proud of Yuzu for being able to come back and deliver
NOW....will he do WTT?

You don't. An axel combo will be a sequence no matter what. But Yuzu wanted no double jumps in his program this year #justyuzuthings

I think he will. Just to perform both SP and FS perfectly in one competition. I don't feel these are programs that he recycles and that is why I think he will give himself another chance to perform them cleanly.

Did anyone notice that Yuzu was asking for Shoma after medal ceremony while he had the Japan flag in his hand? He is such an onisaan

Thank you Yuzu for fighting your back.
Reaching 300 total and FS 200 I can say he is still in the running.
Rest, heal and we will wait for you next season.

Fuji is showing new footage of Yuzuru in this season, they have kept this until today

Yuzuru is in the press con!

Though for Silver, congratulations Yuzuru!!! :hap10: More than having returned from injury, it was a lovely skate. And the only one from the Japan team to medal. That 4T + 3A is even better and so impressive. Congratulations once again! :)

He is still using the same painkillers as the Olympics...:drama:

(honestly, I am not surprised sadly )

:sad21: And, he said he is thinking about 4A, 4Lz and 4F. I thought you will be on fire but you don't need to throw yourself in hell fire baby :) Love your enthusiasm, I'm going to learn from you

So... he isn't fully healed yet? oh my. Well it isn't surprising to me anymore that he'd skate even in such a condition but, he still did well imo. May he heal better this time.

There is actually one more (potentially risky) way for Yuzuru to truly maximise his jump base value with his current jumps...learn a +3Lo combo. Unfortunately, it would require a 3F-3Lo, and we know how much he (used to?) dislike(s) the 3F. If he could do that, he could then do
4Lo
4S
3F-3Lo
4T-3T
4T
3A-Eu-3S
3A

However, I don't think he could do this if he wanted to add a 4A. In that event, he would either need a 3A-3Lo (honestly harder than a 3F-3Lo even for him), do only one 3A, do a 3A sequence, do a double (which isn't normally worth it), or drop a quad (possibly if he doesn't want to do 5 quads).

I don't know if Yuzuru has any sentimental value attached to his 4T-3A tbh, but for sure, he's the only one capable of such a sequence right now.

Is it really easier to do a -3A sequence compared to a -3T combination though? Most skaters still have trouble doing a 3A, full stop, let alone after a jump that slows down your momentum and potentially destabilises you. I hope ISU changes this rule too.

And please raise the BV of a 4A. 12.5 points for a 4A is a joke. The reward for a 2A over a 2Lz is 1.2 points, more than the 1 point reward for doing a 4A over a 4Lz.

Stay healthy, Yuzuru!

I'm really proud of him. Never doubt about his will, even with his ankle duck tapped. I dont care anymore about if he is 1st 2d or even out of the podium, only he is capable of making cry of joy like today.
Thank you for everything Mr Hanyu.

It's good to have you back, Yuzu!! And congrats on the silver!! It was a really nice press conference as well. He sounds uncommitted to Beijing to me and that's totally okay.

Guys, he is talking A LOT on Fuji TV right now, please wait for the video!

He said he was able to do Lutz now already but he didn't say clearly it was 3Lz or 4Lz. And his next competition would come soon but depend on his ankle condition.

i was more nervous for him during 6 min. warm up than the actual performance, i dont know why, maybe because it was hard for him to win title because of SP, but it was nice to watch not having stomache cramps
and what a peformance that was!!:luv17: to come back after such a long break with very little competition experience while you are still injured, only very few (or maybe just one ) can achieve that, and thats the reason why he is still relevant. this is literally 3rd generation since he turned senior and he is always considered one of the favourites, its crazy
it would be nice to see him at WTT to say farewell to programs this season but i dont know if his ankles will hold up, he said he has some thinking to do and
he doesnt even know what he will do next season let alone 2022, as long as he is happy and content i am happy too
