Yuzuru Hanyu: 2019-2021

The english Olympic channel also posted a translated message https://twitter.com/olympicchannel/status/1251119012223868928
It's such a thoughtful and sincere message. -Especially addressing those who were taken ill. :ghug:
Stay strong everyone.

I am so glad to hear from you, I wondered how you were going! Do keep us posted :ghug:

For me Yuzu's message is different from pretty much all others I've seen in that there is no "me and what I'm doing in this" - he's stripped back anything that might make it about him (even the backgrounds and choice of clothes) so that he can focus it on the listeners, covering as many of them - the workers, the stay at home people, even the ill as he can. With just that touch of fellow feeling from the disaster they already experienced together, and that image of the stars through the darkness (which I recall him talking about in a subtitled special)

He's left his ego completely out of it, in order to reach out. Yuzuru is really a rare and special man, not only as a sports phenomenon but as a articulate and empathic human being.

This is an article about Marin Honda's Instagram live, and there was her short comment about Yuzuru. She was asked how she looked up to Yuzuru, and she answered "Everything. He is like a historical figure to me. When we passed each other at Skate Canada, he was getting off the bus and I thought "He really exists!"."

Oh since FAOI hasn't even announced Yuzu's participation yet, I forgot this existed too. But yes, when is the next time we will see him? I wonder if the Citizen Q&A will just post his responses or do an actual live stream (the latter is wishful thinking right )

World Standings are now updated, and he is as expected number 1 again :agree:

He holds the record for youngest No. 1 world standing for men and oldest No. 1 world standing for men  And the most No. 1 worlds standing too (although he already holds this record) :agree:

When you consider, he's had a hard 2020 season, but a rewarding one as well...
