Yuzuru Hanyu

While there's an ongoing thread in The Edge, about the "clutchness" of Yuzuru Hanyu's Free Skate to Seimei in PyeongChang Olympic Games, the video of his Short Program on the Olympic Channel has reached nine million views:

J:COM has posted an article about Yuzuru Hanyu in REALIVE, "Body, Skill, and Spirit":

Here's the article:

They have posted also this one on the connexion with music:

On May 10th, khb will air an interview of Yuzuru Hanyu by Shintaro Ejiri, a former Professional Baseball player from Sendai, "Challenge Without Limits". Knowing Yuzuru Hanyu's interest for Baseball, I'm sure that he knew him beforehand and his merits, his great moments on the field... Last year, he was interviewed by another former Sendai Baseball player, Ginji Akaminai, and ir was so.

I'm not completely sure because while Shintaro Ejiri was born in Sendai, he's best known for having played for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, and it was a longer time ago?

Most fans of Yuzuru Hanyu know the Yuzuruha Shrine in Mikage, Kobe, which Yuzuru Hanyu visited twice, and many fans visit it every year, many hang "emi" with wishes for him. One of them noticed something abnormal at the roots of a red oak nearby, part of a red oak forest which is a designated monument. The fan told it and it happened to be a fungal infection, threatening the whole forest. Fans from Japan and abroad raised five times the amount that was necessary to cure the disease. The poster recalls the Yomiuri Shimbun from five years ago, maybe because the cure is now complete?

Some stunning creative visuals for PREQUEL were posted by Koichi Kosugi, the show's art director for both parts of REALIVE, on his Instagram. True works of art! So lovely and so much in the spirit of the show! Reposting here from REALIVE thread in the Ice Show subforum.

Remember the Prefectural Sports Honor Award as voted in by 47.000 people in 47 Japanese prefectures which Yuzu obviously won from Miyagi residents? Here's the segment of the TV show where the award was presented with English subtitles. Enjoy!

Yuzuru has written a long heart-felt message in English to his international fans late at night in Japan in his members zone! :rock: :laugh4::jumping:
:thank::thank::thank::thank:
It shows how aware he is of his international outreach and fandom !!
If you have access, go and read! It is meant specially for you :)

City of Sendai developed a set of sight-seeing tours following the footsteps of Yuzuru Hanyu for tourists. The tours vary in lenght and duration - you can find a choice for those willing to tour for half-a-day, 1 day and 2 days.

Here's an interesting take on the meaning of peacock in Japanese culture, quite different from the West.
Actually many things carry quite different connotations in Japanese and Western cultures.

This "Couture on Ice" is a great title, a really catchy phrase. Maybe, just maybe it would make a wonderful symbolic reward for iconic costumes that could balance the current WTF award which personally I am not a fan of.
The CoI award could be named after Yuzu now, in fact. :rock:
