Kaitlyn's hair! Gracias todos!
Honestly Kaitlyn seems little tense but their skating is beautiful as always... I am so happy for their lead with the sb score. Go w/p!

Best performance tonight was shibs and c/b. It was a great competition and the announcer is having fun with the crowd during the Jamboni time;)

Well, I'm here. I thought that junior pairs was occupying this timeslot...

Yay W/P and C/L, and Shibs are a bit lower that I expected...

I actually thought C/B had an excellent skate and totally deserve 2nd. Not great for my predictions, but still fair for them.

And can we talk about the 2.5 points separating 2nd and 4th?! Still anyone's game. And the Shibs have the difficulty (and a better program than the 3 ahead of them, IMO), but will they get a tech specialist that gives it to them?

Protocols are up. The Shibs got level 3s on both waltz sequences and the Italians got level 4s, so there's the TES gap. However, I think the Shibs' general quality is just... better. I wish I had the technical knowledge to accurately assess whether or not Shibs were robbed, but :noshake:. Oh well. The Shibs' fabulous free might help them pull up. Maybe.

Looking at the protocols the Shibs really did get lowballed. They weren't accurately judged on what they put out on the ice. I mean, Luca and Anna got pluses on their scrappy twizzles... Shady...

Of course, Luca's twizzles got most +2s. :rolleye:

I really like C/B and they definitely deserved 2nd, but I can't help but laugh at the judge who gave them 9.75s in all of the PCS categories!

That said, W/P were over-rewarded in PCS as well IMO, but none of the judges for them are as funny as the one C/B judge.

Nice competiton! I'm a bit baffled by the ranking, but that's not unusual in ice dance. C/L got nice GOE for their twizzles. :scratch2: And we now know who's supposed to be U.S. no.1. But W/P are rightfully in first place. But it's so close ...

I don't think I'll ever understand ID. It seems the judges already have their minds made up before the whole thing starts. Just look at how neatly the PCS marks go in a perfect descending order as you scan the components. It's kinda silly how they just put teams about .20 points apart in each component. As if they didn't exhibit any different strength and weaknesses from each other.

Unless the Italians do a complete wipe out, it is not happening for the Shibutanis. The judges have slotted the teams, and they will stay that way.

I can not get over the Italians being in front of H/D and S/S. In my opinion the highlight of the competition were the teams that finished 4th and 5th.

I agree. I said upthread that if Anna and Luca don't make any major errors they are staying in the top 3, regardless of how the Shibutani's skate.

I like the Weaver and Poje do their lift early in the dance instead of leaving it to the end like almost everybody else.

Is it just me or did their twizzles seem kind of slow? Still, I like this dance a lot.

Yeah! That was a great decision to place the lift early. It actually lifted me emotionally to a higher place for the rest of the program. My favorite parts are the lifts, so I miss that we had more in the past several years than are now allowed, although I'm not sure whether my remark applies to the SD, or only to the FD.
