Yuzuru participated in the Imperial garden party yesterday and talked with the Emperor and Empress (and other imperial family members). Empress knew about the parade.

E: You were excellent with injury (...I can't hear). The parade in Sendai was also wonderful. Everyone was so happy.

Y: Yes, at the time like that, I felt it was good that I had been doing figure skating. And we were able to invest the money in reconstruction activities as a result of the parade, I am really grateful to everyone.

The Emperor talked to him about his injury, the Empress about the parade and the princesses about watching his performance in Pyeongchang grabbing each other's hands. No kidding, the whole Imperial family is a big fan

I love hearing about how appreciated Yuzuru is in Japan. The parade was incredible just from viewing on YouTube live. Yuzuru is also very articulate and well spoken.

According to today's Asahi digital, Yuzu can't ride a push bike! Which is why he never uses an exercycle to train...!!!

I thought that after Olympics he used a bike to exercise and keep stamina up (stationary one), what´s the truth?:p

I can see his mom don´t let him ride a bike as a kid, since his asthma is so severe...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQUIQPO5nnE&t= Video of Yuzuru talking with Empress and Emperior with English subs.
Poor Yuzuru... At the and of the video you can see 2 bodyguards behind his back. So now it's not only competitions where he needs them :(
I think he only uses them to massive events, he normally is pretty good at being a ninja and moving without calling attention

Yuzuru Hanyu donated all his Olympic winnings of 10,000,000 yen (roughly 91,998 USD) half to the city and half to the prefecture, to be used for the continued reconstruction of the area from the earthquake in 2011.

That's so amazing! What a great role model Yuzu is! It's really lovely he's able to use his success to help his hometown

The aftermath has also been heartwarming and funny. The next day this hashtag trended --and is still trending on twitter #羽生結弦の写真撮るの下手くそ選手権 It translates to Championships of Badly taken photos of Yuzuru Hanyu. Where fans are sharing their out of focus, partially or totally obscured photos of Yuzu at the parade. https://twitter.com/echotpe/status/988299019825926145 these, for example.

:laugh2: Oh dear...nothing worse than a badly taken photo! Although at least these days you can see the photo straight away. In my young days you couldn't so there's a photo of me at Disneyland Paris near Chip and Dale (my favourite characters) where all you can see is my sneaker because some other girl stepped right in front of me!

My favorite photos of the crowd, I mean, Hanyu. Taken from the sky.

WOW now that's a crowd!! The last time I saw something like that was when the Pope visited somewhere!

No doubt :) and it's more appropriate this time since "Seimei" lived when the imperial family was most powerful in the history; in a sense that program deeply related to their heritage of past cultural glory.

He could marry a princess, the youngest one practiced figure skating

I second it  But wasn't there restrictions imposed on Imperial family after World War II? I think if a princess marries an outsider she will be cast off the imperial court, right? :( My history is not that good so forgive me if I'm misunderstood.

Yes, you are right

There goes my dream of him actually crowned Prince :drama: ; but maybe the Imperial family is so such big fans that they will made an exception for him...sure Japanese people won´t mind
