can somebody tell me how North Korea qualified skaters? Olympics are not 4CC or Worlds where every country can get at least a spot. I do not see any of NK skaters placing in the top 4 at golden spin of Zagreb.
I believe Korea is putting out a unified team this Olympics (South AND North). So perhaps SK qualified, and gave a spot to NK.

Edited: correction, that's right, Han was 4th in Vienna.

North Korea won their spots at the Olympic qualifying competition (Karl Schaefer). They did very well there.

thanks for the NK info soogar, Kirk fan and Ptichka

I meant Karl Shaffer, not Golden Spin.

AFAIK, the Koreas were marching together at the Opening Ceremonies, but I don't think they are competing as a single nation. There are talks for the future though.

I guess it's a shame for the NK guy to have a disaster of a program. When I saw the marks I couldn't comprehend him grabbing one of the available spots at KS. Let's hope "Dear Leader" is not going to punish him.

That's what I was thinking about their pair, who came in 20th (last) in the Pairs SP, then pulled out before the start of the LPs! I hope that they will be OK. Any other country, I wouldn't worry.....

I think you may have forgotten that wonderful scene during 2002 Oly Exhibition when Alexei Yagudin changes his shirt and lets his pants drop down and he had on black speedo underwear. :agree: :agree: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, those were the good old days.

Doggygirl, you're not the only bad girl on the board.

Yet - if Evan tries & succeeds with the quad, he'll surely end up in top-5 group.

This is very exciting! I can't imagine people not wanting to know what is happening, in real time, even if they don't get TV coverage. Why wait for good-old NBC 'coverage'? Oh, well -- to each his own, I realize!

Evan:

lateral? on the 3a
3L/3t, no quad
2f - he's really fallen apart, this performance
He's just going through the paces now. He usually gives this loads more.
He looks in a daze at the end of that.

Chris says there was an extra half a foot on the takeoff of the 3a going in the wrong direction. ???

Bad Warm-up: Fell on 3As repeatedly
3A- falls
3Z-3T- awwwwww didn't go for the quad [probably because of falls on 3A]
He seems slow [Watching live on CBC]
3F-Turns it to a double

  Poor Evan. Hopefully he'll bring the house down in the long w/ the quad :)
