Breathing again. Both Meryl and Charlie and Evan and Emily skated very well. On viewing the slo mo, Meryl and Charlie's unison and leg line was the better. Plus they had lovely, lilting waltz action!! Charlie may have been a tad tight and perhaps throwing a bit of snow one or 2 places. Also he picked up someone's pocket square off the ice at the end of their performance. Meryl was wearing the same dress she wore at COR. Great speed too, it seemed although TV is deceiving.

However, there were no deductions.
TES 21.30 PCS 18.63 total 39.93 :rock::rock:

Evan and Emily had would you believe it, not perfect leg line, but great extension, and he has great carriage, I must say. A very good dance. She's in a pale yellow ball gown, very pretty indeed.

TES 19.57 PCS 16.71 Total 36.28

Meryl and Charlie must be breathing a little easier too, because I don't think there is anyone in the 3rd group except the Hubbells who can break into the top 5.

Logan G-S was really pitched forward in his posture. It's kind of surprising to me given the other Yasa/Youri teams have tremendous upright posture- especially the men.

Glad that Meryl and Charlie got through the CD cleanly. Meryl seemed not altogether happy at first in the kissncry. It seemed to lack a little bit of emotional punch though they skated it with good flow and matching lines. Perhaps as Doris said above, Charlie was a bit tight. But good job. Funny when the high inflated go get 'em Nationals scoring came up Meryl started laughing and made some comment that sounded like oh if only it were always so.. :)

Emily and Evan completed a confident dance with great strength. I agree that they didn't seem to have quite the same matching lines they usually have but they skated with good attack. D/W and B/A should both look over their shoulders. I wonder if S/B make it onto the Worlds team if they could get into the top 10 at Worlds?

I was shocked (it was still very good, but they used to be perfect)-their edges were lovely though. I think what we're seeing is what happens to all first year seniors--as they try to increase their speed, some things deteriorate a bit. Emily & Evan are still slower than Meryl and Charlie. Meryl and Charlie went through this speed up thing last year.

Back to watching.

Ratko & Harris.
She has absolutely pasted flat to the head blonde hair, and little pale blue streamers, one on one wrist one on one elbow.

They did not fall down!

Maxwell and Traxler.

If her dress were not so orange, I'd love it. It has a particularly pretty back with multiple pseudo straps picked out on the illusion fabric with a bedazzler. It was not a bad waltz either. Good edges, but timing issues, and I think he stumbled once.

Hubbells.

She's in a lovely blue dress with odd neck cutouts. That was an very good waltz. She has great extension, and they both had great edges. He seemed a bit tight throughout but she was great.

White ball dress with the slot down the front and a huge lump of what looks like Kleenex above the top of the bodice on one side. Does she have a cold. She has above the elbow fake white gloves and maribou feathers in a ring around the hemline

Clare Farrell is such a lovely skater- beautiful posture and always gorgeous costume and presentation. It's such a pity that she and her partner aren't able to handle greater technical difficulty. IMO, their presentation is tops.

Icenetwork has their post-CD article up with a nice interview with Meryl and Charlie. Evan and Emily reveal they have been working hard on the Viennese for two years. Kim and Brent say they didn't work the Viennese until after NHK because they were concentrating on the paso. They surely got a heck of a score for their first time competing in the Viennese.

Here's the link. Lovely photo of Meryl and Charlie

They surely got a heck of a score for their first time competing in the Viennese.

Maybe their first time this season, but they've both been Junior or senior with different partners for years and years and together for a few. I'm sure they've competed it at least a few times before this season.

I'm no ice dance expert, but here are my impressions from the couples I've watched so far.

Navarro/Bommentre: I thought it was really good. They always seem to have this cool collectedness to them on the ice, and it carried across really well in the Viennese. I thought her extension was pretty good, and they seemed to match well but it didn't look like they were skating all that close together. I don't know what to say about the size of the pattern (I'm not sure of how to judge that). And I liked her dress.

Davis/White: I thought that was exquisite. Meryl has really improved on her extension it seems, because it definitely looked like it here. They had this really light, floaty atmosphere during their waltz, and like doris said, they actually had the best lines (I was a bit shocked). Charlie may have kicked up some snow a bit, but I didn't think it was anything major. Meryl's dress was beautiful, probably my favorite of all the couples followed by Emily Samuelson and Jane Summersett. They also had really good speed from what I could tell. Meryl seemed a little more at ease in the dance than Charlie, but I thought they related well to each other.

Samuelson/Bates: They seriously have amazing extension; such long legs extended fully, lovely! But their legs didn't match as well as I'm used to from them, and I thought they were noticeably slower than Davis/White (not terribly so, but enough to notice). I think I like her expression better than his. For a team just up from juniors, that was really strong. Definitely a team for the future. I love the depth in US ice dance!

Hubbells: Madison is a star. That, IMO, is clear from when they first stepped on the ice. She and Keiffer have this natural spark between them that makes them exciting to watch. That said, I thought Madison had the better waltz character than he did tonight. She seemed to float, whereas Keiffer came across as a bit uneasy. They're another tall team with long legs and lovely extension. I thought their legs matched pretty well for the most part although there may have been a few instances where they weren't. I was impressed with their speed, it was better than I thought it'd be. I love the color of Madison's dress, hate the weird cutouts.

Meryl's dress is fugly, it looks like it has seaweed growing on it, and it makes her look as wide across as a barn door.
