I sort of liked Tanith and Ben OD, but they were quite slow i guess on the step sequence. They add some stesp beforre the steo sequence and I think they changed the Step S.

Overall I think the OD os better now that before

**Go Tanith and Ben***i can't help myself, I huts love them :p

IN has reported that K/N 's withdrawal was because he was ill due to food poisoning. Thankfully it is not an injury. I hope he will recover soon. Bad luck for them.

So Dom/Shab got good scores for a walz?

The basic rhythms of the 20s,30s, and 40s was music with a decided syncopation. Where is the syncopation in that Waltz?? Dom/Shab could have done Johan Strauss' "Skater's Waltz" for the same affect.

is it just me or do skaters get food poisoning far more than any other group of people?

Anybody feel else feel like many of these teams had really cautious execution of technical telements? Twizzles from DelShoes were "hold your breath" and hope he doesn't lose it! Spin from DomShab was like watching a listless mobile. Performance qualities from these teams are obvious world class/best in class, but I thought technical elements were kind of dicey to almost just plain weak. Really did miss VirtueMoir. Thought DavisWhite and FaellaScalli both had crisp technical execution that was ahead of all of the other teams. Unfortunate the twizzle mistake for White or would have had them right up there, much tighter in the mix

I don't think so... they travel a lot, so the rate seems about right (given all the stories I've heard about people getting food poisonning when they travel overseas).

I have yet to see the OD's, but after watching both Skate America and Skate Canada, I must say I'm not overly fond of any OD this year... some are good, but there seems to be nothing really memorable this year.

You know I was looking at the OD score sheet and Dom/Shab got the second highest base value and GOE scores. The base value I could probably see but second highest GOE?

Mehh!!

I'm looking forward to seeing these skaters - at some point. I just can't see the Italian team being better than either of the American's.

I've not heard good things about B/A this year...some odd things with D/W too. Of course, I will admit to making this comment with out seeing any of their skates but from the various accounts of the events, it seems that B/A have not done much to improve their basic skating skills, they're slower in many sections and their music/costuming is not improving. D/W seem to be making odd mistakes, which might just be a fluke but I don't see them progressing with what I would have assumed would be increased attention and coaching in Canton. I suppose I would have expected the same from B/A.

Hmmm.....It will be interesting to see if V/M improve or seem to stagnate/regress.

What problems did B/A have in their twizzles that the Canadian tech specialist gave them only a Lev 2 whereas Del/Scho got a Level 4??

once again Tanith and Ben are not holding up with the top teams :(
True, i do not love thier OD, I think the theme is lacking, but they skated better than the russians and keep getting placed under them. I also cannot see the Italians skating as well as Tanith and Ben. I think that perhaps thier coaches are giving them programs with low levels.

Go Faiella and Scali!

Here is an article from the Detroit Free Press about how they relax in their spare time. Massimo says, "Detroit is...not Rome. But I am thinking about staying here after the Olympics."

(Not Rome? Isn't Detroit known as the Rome of midwest USA? Or is it the Paris of midwest USA?)

The article also chronicles the fortunes of the Artic Fihure Skating Club's men's softball team, featuring athletic pairs skater Trevor Young at pitcher, Scott Moir in left field, Charlie White as Designated Hitter and Ben Okolski batting cleanup. (Evidently, they suck. :) )

I think we all see them as good technicians but that Waltz!! How ingenious! mehh!

Well, being able to get yourself up to a certain level of technical difficulty is fine and what the base level scores are all about but their GOE (their execution of the steps) was slow and not at their technical best last night.

The fact that they got only a grand total of one negative GOE despite the fact that the the step sequences, spin, and twizzles were all dodgy is ridiculous.

The end of the SBS sequence was wonky but two judges still deemed it worthy of +2 GOE?

The spin was in slow motion but still gets a +2?

Twizzles were far apart and slow but still get two +2s?

Having seen it, I do agree with F&S being over B&A though.

The OD choreography this season is definitely ... an individual taste (although ... GOD ... don't get me started on last season's "folk" dances ...). B&A's music is very questionable (how do you 'tap' on ice for 3 minutes?), but the overall program is not exciting and the costumes are ???

And what's up with Charlie's mistakes?? I am BIG supporters (like D&W better than B&A) ... but they seem to be flat-lining again this season. Would love to see 3 teams qualify for Olys --- but what must B&A and D&W do to make it happen?

And sorry. Hate me ... whatever ... just don't like the D&S dirty-old-man/hooker-nurse program. It's just creepy.

Charlie seems to be having a bit of a confidence issue. If I had experienced anything like the CoR OD, I'd be terrified to go back out there and do it again. They seemed very relieved to get past that today. I will admit to being surprised, since they are usually so strong on the twizzles, but I think they'll return to the usual standard as time goes on. I wouldn't call it flat-lining, but just taking more time than we'd expect to get completely comfortable with the program. It's understandable though-definitely a hard, fast paced dance.

I hope I hope I hope hope hope that B&A can move up in the FD and stay ahead of D&W.

I hope they're close but that D/W come out on top. :)

Would love to see 3 teams qualify for Olys --- but what must B&A and D&W do to make it happen?

Their combined placements must total 13 or under I believe. Worlds is in LA this year, and barring major disasters for both teams, B&A and D&W should qualify 3 spots. Worst case scenario and still get 13 or under points is

1. D&S
2. D&S
3. V&M???
4. K&N
5. F&S
6. B&A
7. D&W
8. P&B
9. K&K
10. C&L?

Hmmm.. looking at that list I realize how deep and fluid the field is right now. Again I think LA is a big factor, but the image will become clearer after the FD tonight and Euros/4CC if V&M are there.

And sorry. Hate me ... whatever ... just don't like the D&S dirty-old-man/hooker-nurse program. It's just creepy.

I love it becuase Olivier is usually such a reserved personality and performer and this is  but I totally get why people wouldn't like it.
