Biggest surprises:
I haven't seen any of these shows, but I am always interested in Broadway and what's going on there. So everything I say is just based on word-of-mouth that I heard...take it with a grain of salt.
Boy From Oz nominated for Best New Musical? The only good reviews the show got was for Hugh. Most people think it's a turkey with a great performance from Jackman. I thought Bombay Dreams or Taboo would sneak in there and get the 4th slot even if they don't have that much support.
Wicked not nominated for Best Director? I think since Joe
Mantello directed both Wicked and Assassins, Tony voters wanted to make sure he got a nod, so they put all their support in for Assassins.
Little Shop of Horrors being snubbed in a big way. I'm not really that surprised it wasn't nominated that much, but I thought it would get a nod for Best Revival.
You just have to look at the left of my screen name to see who I support.
