Olympic champions. If you had to choose from all the Olympic champions in history in any discipline and give them gold, silver or bronze, how will your top three look? If they won twice, you can give them two medals! Yes.

mrrice, your feelings are getting in the way of objectivity ;)

This is completely true!!!!! I think Jennifer's highest placing at Worlds was 8th in 2000. Like my kiss from Maria in 1999, Jennifer winked at me in Vancouver in 2001. Once that happens, your feelings change. It was like Plushy's Hi 5 in 2001. Once you have a "personal experience" with a skater, objectivity goes out the window.

P.S. How do I delete the post above. That option seems to have disappeared from my options. :confused2:

My personal (and totally subjective) list of favourite Olympic medallists of all time consists only of skaters I have watched at the time they did it (and then rewatched many times). So, no Dick Buttons, Protopopovs, or any other skaters from before 1976, even though I know, and I like and love many more of them, but there's the limitation of the Olympics (otherwise f.e. Elvis Stoyko's 1995 WC LP might have been in there, or Rudy Galindo's 1996 Swan Lake). Also, I sometimes cheat to get in some more skates that I like a lot.

Pairs
Gold: Savchenko/Massot (2018). Never has an Olympic Pair programme moved me more.
Silver: Mishkutionok/Dmitriev (1994). I know, they didn't get the gold, but that Rachmaninov programme!
Bronze: Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo (2010). The Short especially.

Men
Gold: Alexei Yagudin (2002). Both Short and Long are great to watch, but the Short is sublime.
Silver: Yuzuru Hanyu (2018). Short especially.
Bronze: Robin Cousins (1980). Not his best LP ever, but still a joy to watch. And that musicality!

Ladies
Gold: Sarah Hughes (2002). Never really liked her skating before that, but that LP was really something.
Silver: Yuna Kim (2010). Both Short and Long
Gold. Split between Michelle Kwan (1998) Mao Assada (2010). I know, not the gold medals at the time but lovely skates anyway.

Dance
Gold: Torvill and Dean (1984). Loved their Original Dance especially, even if it's the Bolero FD (which I also enjoyed) that went into the history books.
Silver: Davis and White (2010) and (2014). Their wonderful Bollywood OD (2010), and I just love their Sheherazade Free Dance
Bronze: Split between Klimova and Ponomarenko (1992) and Annessina and Peizerat (1998). Love that Romeo and Juliet FD by A/P much more than their Olympic win skate.

Men:
Gold - Hanyu. World records, olympic records, putting together what he did with 2 weeks of quads training while still injured. Becoming an immensely better skater than the first time he won it (I watched his Sochi free and it's amazing the progress). Most champions would decline in ability...It's the stuff of legends.
Silver - Plushenko/Yagudin - I was a bigger Plushenko fan back in the day because of those crazy good jumps, but Yagudin performed very well in his games and I admit he was a better all-arounder though I didn't like his jumps as much.
Bronze - Yagudin/Plushenko

Ladies (Since Sasha wasn't an OGM):
Gold - Yamaguchi
Silver - Witt
Bronze - Lipnitskaya (if we give count team gold, though I don't in my heart of hearts)

Pairs:
Gold - Shen/Zhao
Silver - Savchenko/Massot
Bronze - Elena/Anton

Ice Dance (not very invested in this one at all but if I have to):
Gold - Davis/White
Silver - Virtue/Moir
Bronze - Couldn't even tell you, but I did remember liking that Russian OBM team from Sochi, and they have a team gold so...
