2014 Cup of China Mens Free Skate 11/08

18 years old is an adult, not a kid.

I did blame the judges for the scores, why would I blame Hanyu for them? Seriously?

I am worrying about the health of the skaters, that's why I said they should NOT have skated at all.

If they are in no condition to make the decisions, someone(coach) should make the CORRECT decision for them.

Practice guidelines was one of the things I inquired about, it's very bizarre that it's possible for 2 skaters to just collide like that.

In short, you seem to be imagining things.

I'm referring to some examples of verbal diarrhea being typed out on this thread like this, especially after he got K.O.'d:
"So touched about getting overscored so incredibly hard, I guess"
"I just can't stand this melodrama... And Hannyu doesn't seem to mind it, either."

No sympathy or tact about this situation at all.

"Orser said that for a while after the collision, Yuzuru was not conscious. However, once he regained consciousness, Yuzuru refused to withdraw from the event. Orser had to first check on his situation, and had said that now wasn’t the time to be a hero. Luckily, they had some time, which they used wisely, to check up on him. Someone asked if allowing him onto the ice was the wrong choice, and Orser said that Yuzuru was adamant about it. Orser confirmed that he was speaking fine (conscious) at the time, and still managed to have a sense of humor."

We can stop with the crap about his team knowing better. What's the point of having a referee when they let stuff like this happen? Like sure, nail some skater for dropping a hairband on the ice but when a guy goes unconcious? w/e.

You out of all people posted this:

That's not blaming Orser or the judges, that's a nasty comment about Hanyu right there. That's a teenager being besides himself (for VERY good reason) and you made a stupid comment about him crying. You really shouldn't complain about people calling you out on that.

I feel really sorry for kovtun or dornbush or misha etc...
hanyu's score was too high.
even japanese figure-skating fans are harshly critisizing hanyu's PCS.

Then they should rise BV for quads even more, but if skater falls he should be getting 0 points :)
It's actually very sad that Yuzu got for 4T and 4S with falls more points than for very good 3F. I don't think it's fair and average spectator will never understand this.

Maybe not all the points, but take most of them off- increase the power of the negative GOE.
Its currently -1 GOE= -1 point, -2 GOE= -2 points and -3GOE = -3 points

Maybe they should double the point you could lose
So a quad toe is worth 10.1points (i think)
If he fell and got the mandatory -3 GOE and they deoubled the score deducted, 6 pojnts would be taken off. That is the value of a 3T. Take off the 1 extra mark for the fall, that quad would've lost 70% of its original value.

Orser just did an interview saying that Yuzu insisted to skate,so there was nothing he could do to stop him.Seems like he did lost conscious for a short while after the collision

He's returning to Japan tomorrow,at least it's god he's skipping gala

Aparantly you have no memory at all because some of the messages, including the ones you posted are nasty and awful

I must say this was probably the most exciting day of skating I have experienced this season. Whether if the drama came from a good or bad place, it was certainly of great value to watch when skating experiences something out of the norm.

Well, then I hope for your sake someones going to break their back at the GPF so you can have a really fun and exciting day! /sarcasm

Maybe this thread needs to be closed...

Then no one would do a quad to for fear of falling,

It's not about whether Brian is an idiot or not though. The question is, does he have the official capability within this situation to forcefully withdraw Yuzuru on his behalf? THAT's the question.

What's the protocol on coaches being able to force their skaters to withdraw?

What's about Han Yans coaches?

Its ultimately the skater's decision whether to compete or not. Coaches, despite their close relationship with their students, are coaches and not parents. It was most likely Yuzuru's decison to compete. The ISU however should have a look at their procedures for incidents like these and make sure that they are better prepared to get medics on the ice faster and make. Or more stringent tests to determine whether or not a skater should or shouldnot compete after a collision.

A coach like Brian would never force a student to compete after a collision. He's too experienced to do something like that.
