Yulia Lipnitskaya

I have the same feeling and don't know what is best for her now. Stay in Moscow to work or try to re-gain confidence and show the tiger like Alba said

I think she should skate. Even with the risk of not skating well, or not qualifying for GPF at all.
Competitions can only help you with the preparation, and with the programs. It's not the same as to stay and train at home and compete.
The program is beautiful and she needs time. She can use these competitions to improve, if she is aiming for the World title which I think she does.

I also think better screw up big and sooner than later. It will only make you better. She's 16 years old, it can only do her good in all aspects. I'm confident myself.

When I saw Serafima and Evgenia's programs looking so strong it actually made me upset that Yulia wasn't given the same attention.

I don't think it's a matter of attention. Serafima and Evgenia are juniors and they start the competitions earlier.
Yulia took long vacations, and rightly so. But it's up to her not to the coach.
Furthermore she changed boots, twice? To makes things more complicated she changed her LP, in September.

I've never seen Yulia so frightened. I just want to hold her and cry with her.:cry:
Yes Alba. I too believe in the tiger in Yulia.

What concerns me the most was the hesitation. I have never seen her hesitate like that going in to her jumps. Even when she´s been having problems she´s always gone for her jumps with speed and determination, but not today.

That's all lack of preparation. You do not hesitate going into jumps when you're well prepared and you know.
That's why I'm confident myself that with more time and work she will come back stronger.
We know, and she knows what she can do. This was an anomaly for her.
She had a great SP, despite not being 100% fit, because it was well prepared and in time.
She just needs to leave this behind her back, and use it as an experience. I know it's easier said than done, but that's the only way.

This program has been her nemesis for months and she has in some ways been avoiding it. Surely that has to do in part with the burden of following Schindlers List. Yulia is complex and sensitive. Megapolis is great. This seems to have very little to do with skating. Alba is 100% right. Thanks for your insightful posts, Alba.

Well, I remember that she chose CoC because she wanted to win an event she hadn't in the 2012-2013 season. Obviously she was upset about her silver (and she has every right to be).

This is a rough day for both Romeo and Juliet.

Yulia still have a big chance at TEB. I believe in her. To see her like that. I cried. Then Yuzuru's accident. Then I cried again.

For now, I don't know what to think anymore. I am physically and mentally drained (because I have cried too much).

I think she thinks she didn't deserve it. Oh dear, what a day indeed...
So I wouldn't wonder if she pulled out of the Gala

Ilya Averbukh gave an interview about Julia and the CoC.

http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/758492

In short, he said Julia found it difficult to start working this season as she was emotionally exhausted after the last one, and he added that it's a good thing she takes part in the GP because there were serious reasons to believe she wouldn't. She was unprepared. He also added there's no reason to give up on her - she has time before the Russian Championship to make up for it.

He seems to believe that's the most serious competition Julia faces.

I just watched the ladies' free... Oh my god, Yulia... Count me in as the third person who wanted to reach through the screen and hug her. It was the exact same awful feeling as during the individual event in Sochi. When they showed the replay of her spiral, and the look of sorrow on her face... Maybe she's just playing the part of the Romeo and Juliet story, but it looked to me like she'd internalized a lot of her sadness.

But this isn't the end of the world. She still stands a good choice of making GPF. I hope her skates aren't bothering her or anything.

On a (slightly) less depressing note... does anyone having a working version of the B. Eurosport broadcast of her LP? All the videos that were posted are now flagged with "not available in your country" for me. I had to watch the Russian Eurosport version, and it was a little too much talking, none of which I could understand. Then again, I dunno if I could bear to watch again, but...

Someone who is Eteri's daughter(or an elaborate impersonator who controls Diana Davis fan group... and she's not big enough to attract impersonators) said this on vk...

Мария, в старом она катать не будет) ей просто не успели сшить платье новое

Google translate doesn't get the full nuance... someone who knows Russian please translate...

Mary , in the old roll it will not) it just did not have time to sew a new dress

I'm guessing a new dress is coming for the LP. I think it's pretty sad not to have this done by now.

What it says is the following: She won't skate in the old dress, they didn't have time to make the new one.
