Yulia Lipnitskaya

Loved the creativity she brought out. What a weird little number and as she said before hand....something new and a genre she has never skated to in a very different dress. It seems her ability to interpret music is still increasing. The Ina Bauer with the umbrella seemed to get a big response and obviously her spins which appear better than ever. Here is the video from last page if anyone is interested. Thanks Unite for sharing.

I liked her performance...not the music choice necessarily but it was fun and at least she seemed to enjoy it. The best part though was just now at the end...seeing her and Elizaveta laughing together. It's finally over! ...and I've aged like 50 years

Not sure I'll be watching a competition live ever again.

^ I agree. I have never been so devastated by any competition. :bang: Right now I am quite better than yesterday. Still couldn't comprehend all the things have happened.

I hope they will not ban Yulia for that ceremony. I don't care much about people who are talking bad about her. You have to live wrongly to not be hated by someone.

I don`t understand, why fans don`t bellieve an official Flade`s message! https://twitter.com/Tatjana21/status/531156316824162304

Yulia and Etery never lie. Yulia did`t miss press-con. - it was harder to survive than the ceremony...

A similar case was in Shanghai in 2012.

"Lipnitskaia and her coach went back to the hotel and almost missed the awards ceremony that took place at the end of the day after the Pairs event. It was already late when the skater suddenly remembered the ceremony. They jumped in a taxi where she changed back into her costume before they reached the rink."

Great SP, but very bad FP, obviously. But I'm not worried that much. I don't think there is a chance she will skate worse than that in entire season. The things will only get better. And as her big Polish fan I love to see her dancing in white and red in SP for this very enjoyable, funny music which was making everybody smile when we watched it together on Friday:-))))) So don't worry Julia, there are always ups and downs, but it was the lowpoint of the whole season, I'm pretty convinced about that.

I don't agree about Yuliya making up the excuse, but people should get over it. The reason why she wasn’t at the ceremony was probably because she was shocked at her performance and was extremely angry at herself. Everyone who’s truly her fan knows that she is a perfectionist and is very hard on herself. There are famous athletes older than twice her age who have done and said things that are a thousand times worse than this. Even if she had gone to the ceremony, the haters would have come up with a billion other reasons to hate on her. :roll eye: All I can say is, let them keep on hating

I agree with you, I watched a retransmission of the cup of China's gala, when I heard the presenters of Eurosport France (that I don't like) say that yulia is a " petite peste" in french which is I think (but I am not really sure actually) a translation of "pest" in english, I was just shocked and angry. Presenters don't have any respect, it's just shameful !!!!

Volk, he is pontificating on how she isn't handling stardom in the way he would approve. More than 300,000 avowed fans would no doubt disagree with him. As for the medal ceremony, try taking her at her word. It's pretty simple, really. I forget lots of things under a small fraction of her stress. The mind protects us in myriad ways. You know, defense mechanisms. Everybody here and elsewhere has their brilliant theory, it's like a kennel of barking expert dogs. Can there be any wonder that she would want to avoid this tabloid goldfish bowl? Anyone know the Fellini film 8 1/2 ? It begins with the ultimate Megapolis scene (man actually becomes kite), ends with kumbaya. We might benefit by reflecting on what happens between

He seems to imply that Julia was spoiled by the attention she got after Olympic win.

I don't think he's suggesting that. His intereview was translated here: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...airs-are-strong-but-hardly-threatening.93661/

But I see that Yulia still hasn't shown full commitment to her status that has changed so dramatically after the Olympic Games. You have to take that responsibility and carry it like a heavy backpack for the rest of your life, and to realize that no matter how hard it is, this is yours. If it doesn't happen, fame and attention start suffocating an athlete.
...
In other words, despite her young age, she is a star of universal proportions. And at the same time, she is an absolute child, completely sheltered from an adult life. That's why it is difficult for her to start living it. But it needs to be done.

I'm not sure about that. It's the same in italian and it's not used as derogatory term.
My father always called me my little pest.

Yesterday I thought that was an excuse. Today I'm not so sure.

Alexander Gorshkov: http://tass.ru/sport/1560588

"It was a misunderstanding, she was upset after the free skate and left immediately, forgetting that victory ceremony was held on the same day after all the events have ended. She will apologize in front of the organizers and the audience"

p.s. Sorry but what happened with the Gala that you're talking about?

I can see Julia forgetting this, but I can't comprehend her coach doing it. This is a huge PR disaster and now she is in danger of being fined.

Well, she should. You make mistakes you pay for it.
I don't think she is worried about that. But as you said she didn't need this PR disaster, especially now.

Okay. So now scheming, lying Eteri is deceiving and sabotaging Yulia? That is implicit in your comment.

I don't think volk is implying that sijd. :)
I also don't comprehend how can Eteri, or someone else from their staff, or better Fed officials (there was someone there no?) not pay more attention to these things.

No. Eteri had a responsibility, but she failed. After a disastrous LP, the time of award ceremony was the last thing on Julia's mind. Eteri should've verified and informed Julia on this matter.

Watch Eteri during and after performances. Listen to what she says. She has a huge stake and feels great personal responsibility in Yulia's success and happiness. Her entire focus at CofC was on consoling Yulia. It is human nature to forget under these circumstances. Are they on trial here? What business is it of ours why they didn't show up, let alone to speculate on it?

Here is a quote from a great artist who recently resigned his post with an organization that he loved and wanted to serve: “Unfortunately, despite all my efforts to help your cause, the conditions to guarantee the serenity which I need for the productions to turn out well are not there.” Let's each of us do what we can to provide serenity for Yulia.

I'm sorry but skipping an award ceremony is a big deal. Somebody has to take responsibility for what happened.

That's fine. I repeat though, what the hell were Russian officials doing?
Wasn't there anyone in charge of coordinating things and make sure everything is in order?
I'm surprised with them more than with anybody esle.

Don't know, Alba. Let's keep in mind nothing like this had happened before, and this seemed very very unlikely after her stellar Megapolis. One thing for sure, Yulia has enough to cope with and doesn't need this, so let's temper it with some understanding. Volk, Let's blame Obama.

Oh she has all my support, which counts nothing I know, but I support her 100%.
Love her and love her skating.
