Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

watching fs from today again I think the new costume really suits better than previous one overall program composition, and I love beginning of the program with this drums or something when quad sal is coming

Yuzuru cheering for his friends during medal ceremony, you can see him behind takahito in this video also, must be hard for him also happy for his friends
Oh my, thanks for posting the link to the medal ceremony! Watching it now, and taking a quick break because I'm all teary-eyed... tears of joy, I guess. I'm sort of a general anything-Japanese fan, and just looking at those kimonos the ladies there at the ceremony are wearing makes me ridiculously happy. (Yes, I'm one of those people who rooted for Japan to get the summer Olympics simply because I think all the ceremonies are going to be absolutely gorgeous, filled with pretty costumes etc., lol!)
And yes, I'm happy for the three guys on the podium. and Hanyu will be fine about this, too, eventually.

Interview with Borser after NHK FS: (based on Chinese translation of Japanese news - sorry I failed to paste the Japanese version here...)

Although he (Yuzu) resumed regular training, it was only about a week left (to the GPF). Since the goal was enter the GPF final, now we have achieved that.
He was on ice for less than 10 days (for the competition), the quads got heavier, and he had problem getting the full rotations…hope we can learn from this and move on to the Japanese Nationals and the World.

It reads to me at least Orser is not concerned about Yuzu’s performance (or rank, to be accurate) in the GPF final. I guess getting into GPF final is more a mental momentum for Yuzu, and it is unrealistic to expect him to “return” in such a short period of time, so they are aiming at the next two big events.

About your last remark - I know that for sure. I used to have a Japanese neighbor with three little girls and I was amazed by their parenting...actually very much appreciated it. They raise tough kids with tremendous amount of love.

Oh we could be called much, much worse. ;) I think his own mother does a great job of supporting but not mollycoddling him.

I think that makes perfect sense. Actually, Nationals are rather soon, too, and I do wonder if Yuzuru Hanyu can get back in shape in four weeks. Two weeks definitely is pushing it, but who knows.

Personally, I don't really care if he places first or sixth at the GPF. I just hope I get the chance to see him in real life once in my life (it killed me when I learned he became Junior Champion in, what, 2010?... a mere 75-minute drive from where I live!, so I made a promise to myself that if there ever was a realistic chance to go and see Yuzuru skate, I should not wait for it because the opportunity may never come again.)

That said, of course I wish him all the best at the GPF. But I will be happy for whoever wins there.

Talking about the costume I think I like this design better than the one he wore at CoC but I prefer the colors of the first one. Anyway these two costumes are much better than the R&J2 one.

so lucky, i wonder if i ever ever can watch him live since there is like zero chance of him coming here

thanks for clips!

this is one of the reason why Yuzu is so precious and unique!
he is precious indeed, its not just his skating we love, its his personality draws us in, me at least

Now I guess I'm gonna have to track down some photos of his CoC free skate, or maybe, gasp! actually try and watch it again (I never did, only saw it that one time, a d never had the guts to see it again). Because IIRC I loved that costume, too, and I would love to see again.
Didn't someone post to this thread a picture of Ryuichi Kihara performing in the same costume? Once I saw it I was sure it's a temporary one, just like the Yulia's 13' dress at the CoC. But hey, it's still a bit weird that he wore it. :p

As for the new one - it's very him. :) Well, technically, it's very Weir-ish, but it has a few details which make it hard to picture anyone else wearing it expect for Yuzuru.
[...] I think it might look horrible on a lot of people [...]
And this, too.
Suprisingly for myself, though, I find it gorgeous.

ETA: however, it does accentuate his not-so-good posture..

yuzuru interview after FS today, thanks to tumblr user a-m-n-o-s
i am amazed how self aware yuzuru is everytime

The light blue parts of his new costume are a little bit... strange... to me. But I think I really like this costume! It suits Yuzu :)

Exactly the same feelings. He was trying too hard to live up to the expectation for that title (and thanks to the media who adds more weight on it) and that's taking a toll on him. After the NHK when he said that "this is my true level...my weakness... ". He sounded confused and lost.

I can't help thinking -had the accident at CoC not happened, would the results have been significantly different? The problem already emerged at the SP. He admitted at NHK it was hard to focus, and in another interview (I only saw the Japanese & Chinese versions) he said that he was very anxious. All these adversely affect his confidence and decisiveness in his jumps during the NHK competition, although he did well in the practice and warm-up. How can he perform his best with so many things in his mind?

I have no doubt in his talent and what he can achieve, and I love this kid from the bottom of my heart (no just for his skating). I just feel he is facing a huge psychological challenge here (the "bottle neck" he called, but think is is psychological instead of technical). He IS a fighter and very mature for his age, but after all he is still very young. I pray he can put all burdens (fame, achievements, failures as he called, frustrations) behind him and focus on/enjoy his skating, then he will FLY again!

PS: He may not need a shrink, but I think take a day off to a temple and get some meditation may be good....sorry please don't laugh at me.

I had been worried as Yuzuru kept saying "as an Olympic champion" thing too much in the interview etc. He seemed to have been determined to win every competition this season, although he himself said he might lose.

I like both the costumes. POTO 1.0 becuase it's actually good, and POTO 2.0 because it's unusual, it looks striped down or something. Coincidentally, I'm a bit unsure about the collars of both costumes.

I'm not  I really like the one on the 2nd costume and I really don't like the one on the 1st costume. But I'm also not particularly fond of that fluffy stuff around his wrists. On both costumes, but especially on the first one. Overall I like them both very much but I also like to complain about little things
