It seems to me that Brian Orser was hinting that Yuzuru had lacked training time and had been kept off ice too long even before Cup of China.

It turns out what I have spectaculated is partially true. That all those ice shows and events in Japan did harm Yuzuru's pratice time still.
He only had 5 days for his programs at NHK. Now maybe he has to stay in Japan, away from Orser until GPF.
Let's be realistic, I don't even think at this rate Yuzuru can be on the podium at GPF.

No I think that Yuzuru can still podium at GPF if he gets ahold of himself mentally. Yeah true that Orser not being around is a bit worrying but he's trained by himself before and achieved considerable success on his own as long as he followed Orser's schedule. It's a bit like 2012 where he trained by himself in Japan for GPF after NHK too, and he did rather well at that GPF! Right now, I think it's more of a mental issue for him as he's landing his jumps in practice, so if he gets rid of that mental block, he should be able to do well for GPF, even by training on his own

perhaps the 'issues' referred to here are his back injury and his ankle?

Reading this makes me admire Yuzuru more for his humbleness and humility but fierce determination all in the same nuance of what he has been through. Just wow! Such a upstanding young man!
with all the things happened with yuzuru and reading Daisuke's insta caption http://instagram.com/p/wBOZ2km7TB/?modal=true reminds me about how some people wonder in the other thread why Dice chose to compete for Japan when the depth for their men is so deep.... I think his insta caption answer that question. He is proud of representing Japan with so many fierce warrior around that keep urging each other to go forward. It is the reason why he is on the top of podium yesterday. He saw how Hanyu is trying to do his very best despite his condition and Mura trying hard to do his best being under pressure of leading after SP and infront of home crowd~ their determination urge him to do his best as well. Team Japan is indeed a very special. I'm glad I discovered this despite how slow I am ^^;;
and sorry for posting so rare then come out suddenly posting like this. I'm very new so still learning about the sport yet~ I'm always here reading all the post for update tho... ^^;;

Anything is possible, just look at Daisuke Murakami causing an upset in the rankings, and anyway, Hanyu's jumps at the Gala were pretty good, weren't they? Plus, his skating is always good, which certainly doesn't hurt.
My dream podium at this point would probably be Fernandez (in Spain, come on, it would be Perfect), Hanyu and Machida, but that would probably also make me cry because Voronov and Mura don't get a medal. They've so grown on me. The only exception is Kovtun, but that's more to do with the fact that I don't "get" or feel his FS. Whoops,

In all seriousness, though, the ladies look so lovely. I like seeing how everyone interacts with each other. As for the interview -- he's as well-spoken and self-aware as ever. I do hope he returns to the right frame of mind, which I think can be achieved if he doesn't fixate too much on the idea that "I haven't had enough time to train, ergo, I have not trained enough." From my own experience, having this kind of mentality can actually make it worse as it pulls up quite a huge mental block, when in all actuality, you have enough ability to do what you need to do. I used to be so conscious of the fact that I hadn't prepared enough for my exams as much as the others had, that when I did take them, I forgot what it was that I did prepare for. Nowadays, I clear my head as much as I can of my panic, and I simply focus on what I have to do. I find that you will always do well as long as your mind's not on a tilt-a-whirl of "Oh, I should have answered ten more sample tests!" instead of actually answering the questions. Or in Yuzuru's case, "Oh, I should have done a dozen more run-throughs of my LP!" while the music was playing. I have to say that given his current conditions, his skating remains beautiful and more improved this season.
Now he's learning the mentality needed for situations when he doesn't have as much time to prepare as he usually does. I would love for him to podium, and at best, to defend his title at the GPF, because I know it means a lot to him and he's also probably weighing the achievement of having back-to-back titles. However, I hope he doesn't beat himself up too much if he doesn't make it, and considering the circumstances, it will be a wee bit difficult. The men's field at the GPF is excellent! I'm crossing fingers that they all perform so well, they all just get gold medals. Honestly, if everyone's on fire at the GPF, I wouldn't want to be part of the panel dithering about what scores to give. Ah, well, best of luck to all skaters!
(Also, his costumes are so pretty.)
