Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I just watched Hanyu’s FP through EuroSport, NBC, CBC and NHK. Most of them showed respect and support to him.
He suddenly looks so mature within several weeks. Poor the Kid, he’s just 19 year-old. It’s hard to see him trying to hold back tears after the free program. If it is part of growing into maturity, it’s been too tough for him. But it shows how strong he is.
Hope he can recover completely soon and come back stronger than ever.
Here is link for CBC (only a low quality version)

Do you perhaps have the link for NBC too? I've only seen the Eurosport and the Russian commentaries... Thanks in advance!!!

Maybe I'm just not into Shae-Lynn Bourne's choreography... I didn't like the 2012-13 LP she made for Dai either. That coupled with vocals, and... :hopelessness: (But I love watching Yuzuru all the same, and I hope he skates the LP cleanly sometime this season).
I am afraid it might take a while before he can be back at his top form. Yuzuru is dealing with post collision trauma it seems. He looked so desperate in the latest interview here when he retold his experience, his eyes were teary...

Hanyu replied to an NHK interviewer,
"I think that I minded unconsciously.
I think that there was a wave really this time.
As showing, at unofficial practice, I was really in good condition, so I thought that I could get along well if the same.
However, next day, I begun to fall apart so that my sense was not mine.
The next day became good again when I thought whether it was all right.
Because there was such a thing, after all I think it to have been caused by mental fragility.
I was so scared at the time of exercise for six minutes warming up before competing, because I was remembering the instant of the collision.
Though there was nobody, I was worried about a direction behind all the time.
I think, somehow, even I took take off a jump properly, I was absent-minded

After my performance, I was crying, feeling frustrated, I couldn't help being annoyed at being already annoyed, I could not have done anything (it was hopeless It was hopeless).
While thinking about what I should do, and how I should do, entirely tears filled my eyes.
I will start (figure skating) again from the beginning really, I want to finish climbing the wall in front of oneself.
Even if in the point of the nail, I want to finish climbing it surely.
Regarding the grand prix finals, I am a challenger.

thank you!! now, nbc link anyone??

Climbing the wall, climbing the wall..it's a never ending wall :bang:

this is exactly the same situation as two years ago, after NHK he trained coachless deep at night. He was just 17 but decided by himself and took a very big responsability on his shoulders and didn't go back to Canada.

If it's true Yuzu will take the same decision and responsability even if he's injured , I wish JSF would at least provide a coach for Yuzu, canadian or not, besides body guards which I'm not sure they're really so important for him at this point...

^ i hope that nanami abe could help him if he stays in sendai until gpf
(maybe help him with his 4s technique too)

thank you!! now, nbc link anyone??

Dont have the link but you're not missing out either. Just saw the broadcast when it was aired, they just talk about the collision and how it may have affected him here. And tara just kept on saying that yuzuru is a hot and cold skater using his oly performance as an example and that many are using the same music this season and that they need to get over it. :scowl:

Is it too late to ask him to just use one of his ex programs (i.e time traveler) as his free program and just use this lovely poto next year?

ohhh really??:sarcasm: its one thing to criticize the performance , its another to criticize music choice, you dont have to like it of course but it doesnt affect your performance, unless if you dont like it. and we know yuzuru insisted to use that music and he loves it, i think she needs to get over herself :slink:
and thanks btw, about changing the long program, you can always ask if he would but i dont think he would even think about it, cause he wanted to use that music and also he would think that as quitting

Oh dear, this is really cause for concern. I think Yuzuru is used to always being strong (and indeed he has been described as such by other skaters like Daisuke and Kanako) so his "new" fragility as a result of the collision must be unsettling for him to say the least. His statement "I will start (figure skating) again from the beginning really" is heartbreaking. It's as if everything he has been blessed with and accomplished through great effort and striving, he must earn anew. I think he may need help to overcome the trauma specially since he is doing his recovery in the high stress environment of competitive figure skating, where the source of the trauma also occurred. I hope his family, coaches, and federation are sensitive to his situation and help him "climb the wall." My prayers and best wishes are with him. Oh Yuzuru!

I don't know if Yuzu will be allowed to train with Nanami .. in 2012 some clips showed him training by himself deep at night in Sendai rink, despite a very poor physical condition.

Anyway in 2014 Yuzu has worked back with Nanami on Hana wa Saku last summer, Nanami made the choreo.

Yuzuru likes cats. It seems cats love Yuzuru as well. Here is a collection of photo from Japanese fans, they say their cats love watching Yuzuru, and some ONLY watch Yuzuru, lol http://matome.naver.jp/m/odai/2141736131184267801

Awww! Yuzu and cats

I think Yuzuru's POTO has the best music cuts among all POTO this season, the choreography isn't bad, much better than David Wilson IMO. I don't like POTO musical a bit. But I think his POTO will be awesome when he finally skates it cleanly, or skates in his top form.

I just get into the music when Yuzu skates, but when I listened to the music by itself I don't enjoy it. Is it just me feeling this way:think:?

She actually said it at the start of kana's free program and that she wonders if they all just sat down together and decided to skate to the same music. And she kind of said that she felt happy(?) to hear sergei's music just cause its not poto. cant blame her though, even other commentators and some fs writers(?) are also saying it. aside from the choice of music, and the hot and cold comment, she/they seem pretty supportive lol.
You're probably right though a girl can dream cant she? i just really love that program

Yes, and i love his performance of the program at the nhk gala

As someone who dislike POTO. I understand.
For the record I don't like Chopin but I love Yuzuru's Chopin SP.
And believe me, I don't like Mao's Chopin SP because it's Chopin. :hijacked:
I guess attraction is blind. Because Yuzuru skate to it, we like it. But only in his program. :laugh2:

I don't like POTO that much , but after I watched Yuzu singing it so passionately during COC FS I think he deserves to skate to it... the boy never failes to amaze me !!!! :drama::laugh:

The ice prince and his many costumes

It still makes me giggle

I don't know if this was posted before, but these are some of the newspapers after NHK trophy. http://londonarrows.tumblr.com/post/103932339664/bought-the-newspapers

Thanks again to ice-kingfisher for another postNHK interview translation this time showing Yuzuru's mindset as to the GPF next month:

NHK Trophy: Yuzuru Hanyu Interview 11/30 #2

so is this becoming a habit now?

Here's finally one with a larger photo of Daisuke Murakami and Yuzuru at the corner. I still have no idea if the article is badmouthing Yuzuru or not. https://twitter.com/yuzukiriri/status/538857227713388544/photo/1

AFP article

Hanyu defied crash warning, says coach

Olympic and world figure skating champion Yuzuru Hanyu ignored pleas not to compete after suffering head injuries in a sickening collision during warm-up for a competition in China, his coach told AFP. Hanyu suffered cranial bruising and needed stitches in his jaw as well as staples in his head ...

Tracy Wilson for ABC- Yuzuru Hanyu Report
Wilson- “in fact, the top three men after the short program joked that they were scared that Yuzuru Hanyu would knock them out of their place…

Jeremy Abott even said that he was a warrior, and he doesn’t expect to be on top of him after the free program.”

Oh poor Yuzu said in this interview that he was afraid during the 6 mins warm up. He kept looking around even though there was nobody close to him. I guess both Han Yan and Yuzu share the same fear now. I hope they can overcome it soon.

PS: Yuzu also said that he cried after his FP.

Starting from 3:09.
Yuzuru borrowed a Japanese flag from a girl in the audience after the medal ceremony for Worlds 2014, where he and Machida won gold and silver. When they were about to leave, Yuzu told Machida to go return the flag since the girl was a Machida fan (she was holding a flag with Machida's name 樹). The video showed Yuzu pointing the girl out to him, in order for the fan to have some interactions with her favorite skater. Soooooooooo considerate and cute of him to do that!!

Also have you seen this clip which talks about Yuzu saving Machida and a bug around 6:18??

Can anyone access these video?

The bottom right two includes interview of Oda-san and the Japanese men. I could not open it; it kept on buffering...

Now for the fun. Yuzuru likes cats. It seems cats love Yuzuru as well.

Hi! I'm a fan too. Good news. Coach says he'll be ready for GPF!

Wow, this thread is going to reach 1000 pages before 2015, I am sure:shocked:

I wish he could change his SP to something little happier, like Mao's "I Got Rhythm" which Lori choreographed to cheer her up.
I love his Chopin SP, but right now, for me, it is painful to watch him standing still for the first few seconds of the program, so I want see him smiling at the beginning of his SP.
