Jason Brown

Easier to see someone broody seem older. Jason's happy go lucky nature gives the impression of youthful innocence. ...

Dislike "broody" as an adjective for Joshua. Has a pejorative connotation to me, although I don't think that is what you intended.

I would prefer the word "reserved" for Josh  to reflect that we would not expect to see him bursting with merriment to the point of bouncing off the walls, which seems to be his friend Jason's default mode .

Belated Happy Birthday to Jason.

Well broody is shorter to write than "as self-critical as a propper adult" I almost put cynical but felt that might have more to to with my own out look on life rather than Joshua's, plus some people don't like cynical either. Josh did just send out a tweet this morning claiming that he is quitting skating to shave his head and be a monk which i do have to say I find a bit broody in an adorable sort of way.

The cynic in me would say Joshua is just more realistic about the bad turns life takes, but geez that is a bit dark ever for me!

How about Jason is more of a glass if half full type, Joshua is more of a measure the damn liquid and call it by how many ounces/milliliters are there.

LOL, when I had seen Josh's tweet earlier, I took it as an adorable and light-hearted joke (esp. because of his wink). Not broody in the least. But not trying to argue with you, Stitch. YMMV. (And no matter what, I find your writing style quite entertaining .)

My overall thing is that Josh too has a sweet innocence about him -- although manifested in a different way than Jason's.

For some reason, this Josh anecdote (from mother hen Kim Navarro's report on SOI) has stuck in my mind, and it exemplifies Josh's sweet innocence, IMO :):
... Josh, well, I have a not-so-secret crush on him. My affection began during rehearsals, when Renée Roca told us to meet in the locker room for a "pow-wow." Josh turned to me and asked, "Whatʼs a pow wow? Is that like a party?" and it grew from there.

(I do see that we're talking about different types of innocence.)

ETA:
Maybe the word I am looking for to describe Josh is "introspective." :) For instance, Jason's yoga photo/post also is adorable and light-hearted, but in a different way that Josh's.

He can be pretty damn adorable I will give you that!

I will also add that this year was physically very kind to him. He looked like a pretty typical kid back at nationals, now he is starting to look. . . well very handsome to put it politely. He is turning into a rather attractive young man.

(and I am not trying to argue. . . I have a cold so my mind is a bit mushy. . .i tend to ramble)

edit: "Introspective" is a good word for it.

I was just about to say...well, Joshua may be more 'broody' or introspective, but he looks pretty hot doing it... :o:

Anyone else hoping to get a pic of them in their matching SP outfits this year?

It didn't even occur to me until I read that that they do effectively have matching SP costumes! Anyone going to Nationals, get on it!

I  at this, it's great. But it wouldn't surprise me if Josh is perhaps a little more reticent. He's had enough injuries for both of them, has to watch everything he eats to ensure it doesn't kill him, and is generally a shyer, more introverted personality. That's just being a product of your experiences.

Some of us have seen this one coming for a few years...all the way back when he, Jason and Han were arriving back at the hotel in Minsk, Belarus, and Josh was accosted by ladies begging him to marry them/their daughters/their granddaughters when he was 17, completely ignoring the others! (Of course, Jason and Han didn't laugh at this. AT ALL.)

He has grown up very well.

:agree: Just stumbled upon this throwback photo of even Jason (a younger Jason) looking a little broody.

Absolutely agree. Can only imagine how Josh would blush :o: if he were reading this thread. ;)

No worries, I knew all along that you were not trying to argue either, Stitch. I hope you didn't think I was suggesting otherwise. The only reason for my comment above is that I didn't want you to think I was trying to pick a fight.
I almost always enjoy your rip-roarin' rambling, whether I agree with you or not.

Hope you feel better soon.

Let me just chime in and concur with all the gushing over Joshua's leap to full-fledged gorgeous man this year. My sister was gasping when she saw him. She says he's the best looking skater she's ever seen. We both find him an extraordinary talent as well. :)

I love Jason and Josh as a duo. Mr Ebullient and Mr Introspective, Mr Extrovert and Mr Introvert, and both wonderful in their own ways.

I read that way too fast and thought you meant "duo" in a, shall we say, different fashion! :slink:

As you can probably tell, my brain has turned to mush.

They do go well together. Is it time to bring the Adorable Banquet Tour of Cute Video back?

Please don't let me stop you from re-posting the video (as if I could ;) or would).

But I must say (with apologies for being a party pooper) that the banquet video made me rather uncomfortable. :hopelessness:

Jason always is adorable; Josh always is adorable; their friendship always is adorable.
Jason obviously meant no harm, and Josh obviously was a good sport. I admire Josh very much for not letting his food allergies prevent him from success as a world-class athlete.

But as a viewer, I did not think it was my place to laugh over an issue that surely has caused a lot of hassle, anxiety, expense, etc., over many years for Josh and his family. YMMV.

(I'll take off my Debbie Downer hat now. ;))

Jason Brown is the best! I skated with him at a camp(G2C by Audrey Weissenger-sorry if it spelled wrong) and he is so nice! He offered to carry my skating bag up. Like agh most friendly skater every and he isn't cocky!!!

Welcome mnm464 and thanks for the insight. Everything we hear leads us to believe that Jason's friendliness is genuine, and that is good to know.

Lucky you, mnm464!! I'm envious

Thank you for the welcome! I've met some really not so genuine "nice" skaters before, so I'm glad that some of the top skaters are truly kind.

Seeing the ballet must have brought back memories for Jason of the 2010 nationals when he was the nutcracker prince (and received another standing ovation):

. . . so is someone going to please post the banquet of cute video, some of us were looking for it.

As explained above, I for one did not find anything cute about the allergy theme of the banquet video.
But b/c it's Christmas Eve, the link is below for those wanting it.

The video was posted almost three years ago on the official Facebook page of ISU Figure Skating -- and I do wonder whether the dubious idea :bang: came from an adult authority figure to whom the teen-aged Josh and Jason felt they could not say No.

That said, a couple of positive observations from rewatching the video for the first time in ages:
I had forgotten that Josh was so skillful with his deadpan delivery. ;)
And those who have been remarking on Josh's handsome looks will not be disappointed on that score, even though the lighting is terrible.

Joshua Farris and Jason Brown give us a tour of the banquet

I don't know about the cute banquet video, but is this fuzzy vid of Jason practicing T&I, from Rohene's Facebook page, available to all?

Merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate!

Thx, el henry. I could view Rohene's vid w/o logging in to FB.

you comment was part of why I was curious.

I am not sure I find it as dark as you. I was half scared it was going to be a "shove Food Josh is allergic too in his face" like physically, that some people think is funny" I am glad to see it is not that.

I think you may be right others are involved. Like someone said to them "go film the food" and they decided to do it in a "what can Josh eat" manner rather than a BS "Look how good this is" lie video.

I could also see Jason being very concerned about people's food allergies. He seems the type that might honestly want to learn what a friend can and can't eat so they can keep it in mind and be helpful for lack of a better way to put it. Actually, I can see Jason being one of those people that host people with allergies and drives them nuts with emails at 2 in the morning asking about every little thing on the menu to make sure they can eat it. Josh seems to just accept it and deal with it. I don't blame him for bringing his own food actually, likely is easier to just stick with what you know to be safe.

I also thought Jason's Chicago accent was really think in this video. Sometimes it just really slips through
