Yep he is talkative, like Newbiespectator said it must be frustrating not to be able to express himself fully in English...
Seems like he can go on forever talking about how much he loves eating egg over rice lol.Also, "Talent is nothing without hard work". He is definitely extraordinarily gifted, but I also think he works extremely hard to get to where is he today, both professionally and academically. That really tells you a lot about his character. Even BOrser said that he's immensely disciplined in all aspects of his life and that's not an easy task for anyone let alone someone who's overseas and taking online courses. I've taken a few online courses before and I personally felt that it was so much harder than going to class physically. There was no professor there to monitor your work schedule so it was very easy to slack off and fall behind. Maybe this only applies to the ones I've taken, but it felt like the coursework was heavier as well compared to regular in-class courses. I don't think Hanyu's a genius or is exceedingly smart but he works very hard academically and seems to always love learning; which as my professor says, the only thing that matters.

Everytime I think about this dish, I understan how difficult is to get pass cultural difference... I mean RAW EGG!!!!!! WHY?!?!?!?!?!

I don't know very much about the left/right brain distinction, but I think many mathematically minded people are also visual thinkers. And have a lot of spatial awareness. After all, in maths there are a lot of graphs and it's often easier to solve problems by drawing out a diagram, e.g. in mechanics but also in set theory. Just my own experience
Easy to see that someday Yuzuru may choose to write choreography. Would be very interesting to see.

Its a texture thing I think. Japanese people generally really enjoy that kind of texture but I'm not fond of the slimy texture....like natto. :hopelessness: But everything else I love

I think you have to use VERY fresh raw ingredients (especially meats and eggs) in authentic Japanese foods. That's one of the reasons why they are so expensive (another reason is the labor).

Firstly, as you've probably garnered from the other posts, this isn't just egg with rice, but rather raw egg with rice
And as to why it's not available - well, it is probably theoretically possible to have it in Canada, but I would say that the reason is the lack of demand (the same goes for what Asian food is available in England). Maybe it's because raw eggs are seen to be hazardous for health, causing salmonella etc.? Anyway, due to lack of demand, it's probably expensive to offer raw egg rice (like sonora said), compared to in Japan, so restaurants wouldn't do it. (Although I'm not sure Yuzuru spends much time in restaurants anyway)
Anyway, I am from Hong Kong but I study in England and a lot of less-acceptable-to-English-people Chinese food isn't available here either. Actually only such a small fraction is, even though there's a bustling Chinatown. So sad.

The problem could be...there is no such fresh eggs (for raw egg rice quality) to be found. if so, they must be produced and distributed through special channels, and demands are too small to warrant any supplies.

To me, raw egg over rice is an example of Japanese comfort food. For me, the dish is a special treat that I remember fondly from childhood.
For those who don't know (shiro, I know that you do):
The rice is steaming hot, so the egg gets nice and warm as the ingredients are stirred together.
I would describe the texture as custard-y. :yes:
Regarding cultural differences:
When I was a little kid growing up in an Asian-American household, my reaction to the Western dessert of rice pudding was RICE COOKED WITH MILK AND SUGAR!!!!!! WHY?!?!?!?!?! 
Most unappetizing of all was rice pudding with raisins and cinnamon.
Rice pudding no longer is anathema to me as an adult, but egg over rice always will have a special place in my heart.

Yeah, I agree this is probably the case. The impossibility of finding ingredients, even in special Asian supermarkets.
Which is why a lot of my Hong Kong friends always carry suitcases of food back to England every time... but of course, you can't do that with egg.- Joined

Ahhhhh what we in Latin America call "Arroz con Leche", my mother loves it... I´m not too much in to it, but is not back in call time. And is fairly easy to cook.
