Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

It's probably time for Yuzuru to drop the biellmann spin. Just the struggle to get into the biellmann spin, it looks so...painful. Dropping it won't decrease the quality in his spins b/c heck, he's a good spinner already, with or without the biellmann.

I think so too. Doing the biellmann would probably hurt his back more and there are definitely more ways to get the levels on the spins if he decides to drop the biellmann. It's just unnecessary imo. Just... don't replace it with the A spin please but that's probably what he'll do :bang:

I'll take the A spin any day over his biellmann  if that means less back pains for him :agree:

Agreed. It really slows him down, not to mention that it looks like he has to put a lot of effort into it

Has he mentioned why he keeps doing it? If it's bad for his back he should know it's not convenient to keep it

I've read somewhere that Orser has been suggesting him not to do it anymore due to back pain, but he doesn't stop it because it is something he learned to do as he respected Plushenko... we all know Yuzuru is such a stubborn guy :drama:

No idea why, maybe someone else has information? My best guess would be because of the amount of points he receives for it, or maybe because it sets him apart from other male figure skaters?

Edit: nvm, look at the post above

:rolleye::unsure: Yuzuru, be careful that stubborness can cost someone a career. Plushenko himself stopped when it was convenient for him.

Wait really? Orser suggested that? Oh dear god if that's true then Yuzuru should just listen to him already. Even Plushenko stopped doing his biellmann in his early 20s, though I can't remember for what reason.

There are other spins (better ones) he can do to get the levels and it'll be less painful and strenuous on him. Its likely a personal reason why hes keeping...I do remember hims saying that he'll continue doing both the biel and the ina baur for as long as his body can let him. There's definitely more to it for him than points :ohwell:

Edit: You guys are probably right...respect and tribute to the skaters who influenced him, both Plushenko and Shizuka...:hopelessness:

Oh, I see, that makes sense. I don't mind him keeping the ina bauer at all  as long as it doesn't affect his health, of course. The biellmann I can definitely do without lol

:slink: What does he mean by that? Does he mean that he's going to do the biellmann and ina bauer until his back collapses? :bang: And I think we're more critical of the biellmann because he actually looks good doing the ina bauer, though both moves probably strain his back a lot.

I couldn't find the exact source about the fact that Orser told him not to, but there are several people posting that info. It's written on his Wilipedia that he's doing biellmann to show his respect to Plushenko. I think it's very likely...
And I agree with all of you that he should stop it.
