Tatsuki Machida

In the mean time let us send our positive thoughts towards Tatsuki because he faces a huge challenge today trying to skate his difficult FS as clean and as beautiful as possible.

Ionap you were right to be worried. This is the worst scenario: Tatsuki off the podium and possibly off the Worlds team. It just doesn't seem right.

Tatsuki also seems strangely subdued though as always he expressed the program very well.

At least he did not repeat the disaster at the GPF, and I still was very touched by his performance today.

I really hope him in World Championship.

I think Tatsuki and his team should change his FS layout. It's perfect recipe for TES disaster if things are not going the right way : /

I hope he still has a chance to go to Worlds though. If Shoma is sent to Jr. Worlds, can he go to Worlds as well? I keep on reading about the rule change, but don't know where to look to confirm it.

I like how he smiled in middle of his performance today.

Well I personally think he is able to nail that layout given the right circumstances, but the time between GPF and Nationals has been very short and only a miracle could have had him skating a clean FS in the exhausted and sleep deprived state he's been.

It is also an example of how Tatsuki sees his programs more like art pieces who cannot be changed rather than point getters because he doesn't seem disappointed of his scores today. He expected this to happen and is probably relieved it didn't go as bad as GPF.

I think he can, last year Nam Nguyen went to Senior Worlds after winning Junior Worlds. Not sure with JSF's rules though.

Tatsuki still holds the 2nd personal best for both SP and FS this season so maybe this and last season's Worlds silver will weigh in their decision.

I am quite sure he will be send to Worlds. It's more question instead of who. Any of this will be not good decision, but I think they will leave Kozuka in home :hopelessness:

Yes, hopefully they'll consider the scores in their decision making.
If they want Shoma to gain as much experience as possible before 2018, they might choose him I suppose.
Getting nervous for tomorrow's announcement. :scowl:

JSF would probably rather have both Shoma and Tatsuki on the team rather than Taka which is heartbreaking - but compared to the rest of the team, Taka's GP season has been incredibly lackluster.

If they do choose Tatsuki I'm sure it won't go without similar controversies as last year and this is the thing I feared most. Today's program is not Tatsuki's real level but I'm sure his critics will become louder after this.

Because overall it will be controversial decision  but....
It will be terrible decision for Taka fans
It will be great decision for Tatsuki fans
It will be great decision for business of JSF

2:1 ;)

We need to wait and see. I think Shoma has bigger chance for great results than Takahiko unfortunately

No, the decision itself would not be controversial - the rules are clear. People would make it controversial. ;)

As a Tatsuki fan, it wouldn't be that great of a decision to me, because this is not the way I wanted him to go.

That scenario actually reminds me of the selection of Ashley Wagner for Sochi with Shoma and Takahiko in the shoes of Polina and Mirai, respectively. Though the JSF rules allow "deep selection" outside the top three finishers, it will undeniably be a hard decision. :(

I'm a big Kozuka fan, and would rather watch him skate than most skaters but I would totally understand if they chose Machida over Kozuka. Machida is more consistent and has higher scores. There'll be no controversy for me but people will find reason to complain about anything unfortunately.

I would hate to be JSF right now. Well, I would hate to be JSF period
