Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

What was even worse, immediately after hana wa saku, the next song was to honor a dead singer, so I heard. So it felt like this whole section of the show was designed to remember some dead celebrities.....:drama:
Omg Japan TV please don't be that dramatic! :laugh2: Poor Yuzuru he's still young and, aside from some health problem, very energetic and lively.

As you can see I'm just trying to learn these techniques. Now that I have learned one way to post, I want to wish Yuzuru a speedy recovery an to the rest of you a very happy new year!

Well, first it seem that part of the things that they said in the show as part of a message from Yuzuru is:

part 1: "I experienced a lot for one year of this year
part 2: There is a hurdle, getting over a hurdle again. But I want to get over that hurdle."

And there is an article in Yahoo about Yuzuru: it seem that the surgery was programed, and the diagnosed was given after coming back from Barcelona.

Could be just a rumor.

Happy new year everyone! I hope 2015 is filled with lots of health for everyone. I shared this in the team japan thread but I thought I'd link it here too, I found a youtube channel that has hundreds of skating program music. I've been listening to it all day!

Happy new year and best wishes to everyone and of course to Yuzu!

Since this forum pretty much has all resources/links/videos about Yuzu already, this is probably a repeat... plz forgive my laziness to make sure it hasn't been posted before...

Interesting to see the dynamics at that time! I don't understand Japanese but it was pretty obvious that Machida (18 yr old then) was the one favored to win, it was his final year in the junior circuit. After the SP, Tatsuki was in 1st, over 12 points ahead of Yuzu, who was in 4th. In the end, the 14 yr old Yuzu pulled off an upset and surprise win in his 1st year as a junior (having won novice category the year before). There was only 1 spot for Japan to send to Junior Worlds and Machi missed out by 1.24 points.

I found it interesting to see that Tatsuki already had pretty good skating skills then (with not as much pimple scars and no eyeliner!), and Yuzu had amazing musically and expression. :)

In the interview Hanyu talked about how he was calculating how much of his 'ideal score' he could get with this program. Even when young Hanyu had a very calculating mind to go along with his passion and wildness.

Seriously he has to stay in hospital for 2 weeks not 2 years! :laugh2: The show MC seem to have some problems or maybe they thought his condition was severe. I am sure even Yuzuru would find it weird if he watched the show. Like: "Heck, I am here and still alright...:slink:"

Anyways I am watching his performance when he was 13, full of energy. I like Sing Sing Sing very much, I hope next season he will try this kind of music again: http://youtu.be/2ycoGp4q9Ms

Japanese hospitals are famous for long stays. When I went in for a minor operation last year, they wanted me to stay for 2 weeks also. It was only when I insisted (pushy American, yeah, I know), that they let me check out after 9 days. So I would not read anything into the 2 wk stay for Hanyu. And you are correct that TV in Japan, even the news, tends toward the melodramatic.

I really don't think there is anything to be concerned about. Now that the surgery is over, he is surely out of the woods and on the way back to full recovery.

That's funny. In the US they kick you out after 2-3 days regardless! I'm sure Yuzu is fine and calculating how he will begin his training regime once he gets back to Toronto.

I'm always amazed with the videos linked by our Japanese friends on how over the top the announcers are. Even though I have no idea what they are saying they always crack me up.

Yuzu has had an amazing year in every way and we as fans are along for the ride. There is no doubt in my mind he is a special individual and I am proud to call myself a fan. My wish for 2015 is to see Yuzu live at Boston Worlds in early 2016.

Happy New Year everyone!! :party2:

Thank you, Never have seem the entired competition before, didn´t realize this was the year he won againts Machida.

Thinks that I notice and I didn´t knew before:
Dice was coached by Morozov, How I didn´t knew that? And now he is trained by Carroll, he has had pretty amazing coach staff.
I think Machida is wearing base, but he isn´t wearing guyliner (I have never understand guyliner, unless your name is Jared Leto it doesn´t look good). He does have acne but is not as severe as now. Maybe his acne is stress related, it could be hormons.
Machida´s costume looks a lot like Yuzuru´s White Legend one. Liked his coreography, specially the ending pose, very dramatic, very Machida.
Yuzuru really relayed in his jumps and spins, he does have great musicality and speed, but he was raw. During interviews he didn´t look as open as when he was 12 and saying he wanted to win OG, not does he acts as confortable as he is now facing the media. He acted shy.
Nanami sensei crying and hugging Yuzuru, was just so much feelings.

Happy new year:) I really wish that 2015 will be at least as good as 2014 for Yuzu and all his fans here. Actually, for all the people on this forum. :)

Happy new year, Yuzuru! I'm really sorry you'll need to spend it in the hospital (), but hopefully that leads to a strong recovery and better luck at Worlds.
