Interview with Plushenko
Plushenko’s comment and message to Yuzuru regarding the accident, injuries, his decision to keep competing despite bearing the pains and risks after the accident, and his win in GPF. You can watch it in here at minute 22:52 .
=>
On Hanyu's Accident at COC and afterwards:

It goes without saying that Yuzuru is a courageous person. 3 Weeks after his injury, he forced himself to compete. But there is only one health. That's something to learn. Yuzuru is still young. After such a serious accident, I don't think there is any competition worth more than an athletes life. You can't buy health. I learned that the hard way at Sochi.

Recap of Plushenko's injury at Sochi.

-But for Yuzuru, by God's grace, everything went well. He was even able to win at the GPF. I'm so happy about that and from the bottom of my heart I congratulate him.
This was Plushenko's message, full of affection for Yuzuru.

And old interview of Yuzu in 2012 in case it hasn't been posted

This is so sweet, all his dreams/goals really come true.

More photos of the corner at Ice Rink Sendai

Apart from his skating and athletism, I really love his personality, work ethic, determination and spirit. Such a sweet soul .

Yuzuru Hanyu + 2014 Highlights this made my day. If he is happy I am happy.

Article 1

Yuzuru Hanyu took his second consecutive victory in the final of the Grand Prix enchanting the audience in Barcelona thanks to a free program that , in its own right , has already entered the history of the discipline .

At the same time , the Japanese champion has silenced no chance to reply all the skeptics who , hastily and with little knowledge of the facts , had questioned the result of the short program shouting to the scandal .

The Japanese champions skated a free anthology improving personal best in the segment of the race and scoring the highest technical score in history. Hanyu opened the trial by performing in a celestial being quadruple salchow that the quadruple toe loop , which was added in the second half of the music a couple of pearls as the combination triple axel / triple toe loop combination and a brand new triple axel / euler / triple salchow , stuff that alone is worth the price of admission .

In a performance also characterized by exceptional quality on the elements of spinning top, all judged the highest level available , the Olympic champion has completed the best two quads and seven triple jumps , falling near the end of the work on a triple lutz , correctly judged under rotated .

Both segments of the race proved to be rich in transitional passages , which have enhanced the quality of skating athlete intended to rewrite the history of the discipline . Moreover , the interpretation of the notes today 's " Phantom of the Opera " was timely and lived to the point that Hanyu also gave the impression of humming during some parts of the program.

Article 2

Yuzuru Hanyu has added another jewel to a stratospheric 2014, who will stop him?

Yuzuru Hanyu for the fourth time in his career he shot down the threshold of 280 points in a competition of first level ripping the primacy seasonal compatriot Tatsuki Machida, which stood during Skate America at an altitude of 269.09, nearly twenty lengths less than the score achieved in final of the Grand Prix in Barcelona by the Olympic champion.

On the occasion, the champion of Sendai has recorded the highest TES (total elements score) history in the longest segment of the race confirming of becoming the first man to go beyond the two hundred points. The ambitious goal was not, in fact, achieved because of the fall on the triple lutz under rotated, which cost all inclusive those six points missed call. Moreover, any consideration assumes a very different dimension if you think that the plan to start the race season included a second quad toe loop instead of a second triple lutz. The world record in the free program has thus remained in the hands of Canadian Patrick Chan (196.75), but the student of Brian Orser has revised its staff rising to 194.08.

Back in Japan to better prepare the National Championships, Hanyu has released a number of interesting statements regarding the intentions for the upcoming race in Nagano: "The layout of the jumps will remain the same in Barcelona. I prefer to remain cautious because of the conditions of my leg. If the physical condition will allow me to return to the original layout after the national championships. "Put simply, unless a last minute change of course, in the free program of the National will be attempted only one quad toe loop and the jump which will open the second part of the music will still be a triple lutz.

At this time, you can not see who and how it can cope with a Hanyu healthy. The combined technical component and package art makes the twentysomething Japanese unattainable even for the most qualified competitors, forced to not commit the slightest smear to hope to have some minimal chance of success.

As evidence of the absolute superiority, it is enough to point out how the Japanese twenties is in possession of the best seasonal performance on each item of the score.

SHORT PROGRAM
TES 51.11 - rest of the world 50.91 (TEN, Golden Spin)
PCS 44,42 - 44,15 rest of the world (FERNANDEZ, Rostelecom Cup)
TOTAL 94.08 - rest of the world 93.92 (FERNANDEZ, Rostelecom Cup)

FREE MAP
TES 103.30 - rest of the world 91.74 (MURA, Skate Canada)
PCS 91.78 - rest of the world 88.42 (MACHIDA, Skate America)
TOTAL 194.08 - 175.70 rest of the world (MACHIDA, Skate America)

Putting together the best results obtained on each order of score, the "rest of the world" (Ten, Fernandez, Mura, Machida) would stand at 275.22, almost thirteen lengths less than the 288.16 reached by the winner of the final Grand Prix, slightly penalized in comparison as the sum of the components of the program in the first segment of the race in Barcelona (43.97) was lower than that of the Cup of China (44.42).

Archived the twentieth edition of the main circuit ISU, it is now time to focus on top-level competitions of 2015, but without forgetting that Hanyu, unique in history, won the Olympic title, world title and victory in the Grand Prix during the same calendar year , further proof of a superpower apparently destined to last long.

There's the video of Yuzuru's GPF FS with Italian Eurosport commentators on nicovideo, which someone kindly put the Japanese subtitles, and the commentator (I suppose he's the author of these articles) went on and on about defending Yuzuru's scores from all the criticisms. And they are giving explanations of his scores in these articles, too. How nice of them.

In case this has not been posted yet, the best comment from the video was:
'Welcome to the Hanyu Planet. There's only one habitant, him!'

I don't know if anyone posted it before... But he looks cute!

Bad news for Yuzuru and Maxim shippers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7HZwi8Wxmk

Radio program, he did it already it seems: http://youtu.be/pvoL9CfZpvk
I have no clue about what he is talking about, though.

this is the rest of the pictures from the 2015 calendar, and these are the pictures included in that tiny desktop calendar. Bad quality, but you get the idea

Not sure if this has been posted before. At the GPF they had this booklet with infos about all the skaters and I scanned Yuzuru's page.

I have never seen this video before. Is another angle and longer versionof Yuzuru and Kanako doing the Maru Maru Mori Mori dance. These dorks belong with each other.

Thank you Katya
“Good evening, listeners of “Love in Action”, Shu Yamamoto, Maya Kobayashi. This is Yuzuru Hanyu. I’m going to support “blood donation at 20” as a campaign character in 2015. In last December I turned 20 yo, I think the time has come for me to think about what I can do as a figure skater, having a consciousness of being a member of a society as a new adult. When I was asked to be the campaign character of “blood donation at 20”, I wondered what I could do to support it. When the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred, Japanese Red Cross Society supported the affected areas including my hometown Sendai. We were really helped by many people. I think the blood donation also needs support from a lot of people. I’d like to convey the importance of not only the blood donation but association and life to all in my generation through this campaign. The number of blood donors in 10’s and 20’s decreased by 32% in the past decade. I think it’s important for us to know the current status of the blood donation at the beginning. I hope you will have time to think about the blood donation and the importance of life even a litte with this campaign, and make a blood donation. From Yuzuru Hanyu.”

Also adding to the ships - Yuzuru and Shoma although this ship may be more of a onesided love

Hanyu is still in the hospital. "My postop recovery is progressing. I want to concentrate on my treatment without any rush. I can't train right now but I think this is a fortunate thing. I want to spend my time wisely preparing for the next step."
he also talked about competing at Worlds saying he wanted to give as good a performance as possible at that time.
So, in his mind, he is DEFINITELY going to Worlds. And we all know how strong Hanyu's mind is.
Good to hear that. I hope he means it, though.

Thank you for the updates! I expected he wouldn't be able to walk well for a good week or 2 but nice to know he's being a good boy and not pushing himself. I see this as a blessing in disguise. He was long overdue for some really needed R&R and knowing his personality, he wouldn't do it unless it was forced upon him. I hope next time he'll listen to his body and not wait till he has to be in the hospital to get some rest. :hopelessness:

An article from healthpress about yuzuru's case
http://healthpress.jp/i/2015/01/post-1405_entry.html

They talked about why yuzuru only did his surgery after nats, what might have been the cause ( there was no direct relation but since acquiring several injuries from the cup of china accident without having enough rest to heal/ recover and with yuzuru's schedule due to competitions, his physical condition became poor which can be susceptible/prone to infection so indirectly, they considered his injuries that time has led to his emergency hospitalization and surgery. ) and since jsf didnt actually state the type of surgery that was done, they speculated which type from the given length of rest and explained how the surgery is done. It also stated on why yuzuru was given 11/2 month to rest (if he's a normal office worker, there is no need for him to take 6 weeks of rest but since he's an athlete which does strenuous activities he needs the rest before going back to practice.) )

(There are 2 pages in total,  i hope someone can help translate it since i think the article was very informative about his case, surgery procedures etc. )

Thanks for the link.

Thanks for the translation dandelionclock. It was very informative. Just one question, how does asthma relate with the anesthesia? Of what damage are they talking about?, anyone has an idea? Thanks in advance.

If you are OK with any translation for the moment, here is mine. Some paragraphs towards the end of the article related to the speculation of which type from the given length of rest and explanation of how the surgery is done. Plese feel free to make corrections.

The comparatively long hospitalization and recuperation suggests Hanyu underwent a surgery to remove the urachal remnant, not just to remove pus. However, there is a question. He was complaining of a stomachache on 27th. That suggests the presence of inflammation, and in such a condition, they could not have done any kind of surgery. Because before surgery, the inflammation first needed to be managed by taking antimicrobial agents.

According to the media, he had a pain during the Grand Prix Final and after coming back to Japan, went to a doctor and was recommended a thorough examination. Considering above, we might be able to imagine this way: he had already been taking antimicrobial agents during the period. Although the pain was not completely blocked because of intense exercise at the competition, by 30th, he got ready for the surgery.

The removal of urachal remnant is not always necessary. But in his case, it can affect his performance at important competitions at any time. Therefore, it is most likely that he decided to remove it now.

Depending on the location, size, and form of the urachal remnant, the surgery sometimes cannot be done laparoscopically, and it has to be performed by opening the abdomen. If he had a choice, Hanyu must have a laparoscopic surgery which allows faster recovery.

[...] Given that he is a top athlete who will exercise very hard once leaving off the rest, he may need a longer recuperation time than ordinary people in order to be ready to go back to his hard practice. If that is the case, it is no surprise that he had a laparoscopic surgery and still needs the time to recover longer than usual. Also, since Hanyu has asthma, the damage after anesthesia might be greater than usual, which might also explain the given length of rest.

It seem that after abdominal surgery, and those that need anesthesia, lungs get debilitated and produce phlegm.

Here is information about the effect on the lungs and the process to recover http://www.ouh.nhs.uk/patient-guide/leaflets/files\101108abdominalsurgery.pdf

Anesthesia used during surgery can affect how well our lungs work after surgery. If you have asthma your lungs aren't in an optimal state anyway, so I'm guessing that those aftereffects could theoretically hit you harder if you have asthma.
Now I see, thank you very much girls ^^

Thanks dandelionclock for the translation and Celeste and Pamina for the article links. Besides Yuzuru finally being free from pain due to that congenital condition, I see a silver lining in the surgery as it may also help Yuzuru's posture. Per the article Pamina linked us to: "Certain posture can help a lot in easing the pain while taking deep breaths [after high abdominal surgery] by giving your abdomen room to 'bulge.' Sit up as straight as you can when taking deep breaths. Take deep breaths whenever you are up and walking—stand as straight as you can when you are walking." ;)

Levity aside, wishing Yuzuru a full and speedy recovery!

I also hope that this enforced rest will give Hanyu's ankle, knee and back time to rest and heal. He'd never be resting like this under normal circumstances, but this could be, as he put it, very fortunate.

Another translation of the article about Yuzuru´s operation. Credit Otomodachi0409

This article stated that Yuzu’s illness might be indirectly caused by his injury at CoC. However, it is not something uncommon. They say 1-2 people out of 100 will have this illness. Not everyone with this illness has to go through the operation. Having said that, having the operation will prevent Yuzu from getting sick again during major competitions.

They also suspect that Yuzu could have been taking antibiotics since his return from GPF to cure his inflammatory before his surgery.
As for his operation, there are 2 ways of doing it. With general anesthesia:
1) cut 10cm under his bellybutton (can’t wear his bikinis anymore) and it takes longer to heal
2) 3-4 cuts beside or under his bellybutton (still can’t wear bikinis….sigh….) but heals quicker

They’ve suspect Yuzu has chosen the latter. For an average person, it shouldn’t take 6 weeks to heal. Given that Yuzu is a top athlete which goes through tough training, it’s better for him to stay still for a longer period of time.

More pictures from GPF medal ceremony

And it looks like a page from a girls magazine in Japan, looks funny. Can someone please translate.
