Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I think Kurt Browning may have also said something like that? I can't remember which video it was but he said something about the first time he met Yuzuru they played baseball together and he talked about how he has a mean arm because his dad was a baseball player. He even joked about how a kid like Yuzuru got into figure skating haha.

I remember this too. And I think someone else (another male commentator) also mentioned this, so maybe they got the same memo?? The only related thing I've heard Hanyu-san himself mentioned is when asked if he likes/does any other sports. He answered baseball and said that it is because his dad also plays, he started playing while he was young.

Now I think that can mean anything from playing it as a hobby, coaching it as a school teacher, or any other possibilities. The commentators might have simply misinterpreted or the interview got mistranslated.

Maybe in the next life he will be a professional baseball player! He did say he would like to try new sports if he had to reborn. I remember him saying he's not good at other sports though except skating.

Maybe...yes. and I remember that Mao mentioned “the muscle that is involved in walking and is involved in skating are different. so I am really not good at walking for a long time….”.
It is understandable he is not good at other sports :laugh:

Since some of you said that they'd like to see it, I made subs for the German version of his Sochi SP.

I have a new found admiration for those who make videos with subs for us :biggrin: I probably made this a lot more complicated than it had to be, but this clearly isn't something I'd want to do every day.
Sometimes I got a little creative with the technical stuff because I simply don't know how to translate that. The quality isn't so good but I guess that also doesn't matter here :)

Thanks for your hard work Pamina :rock: . I imagine how hard it must have been, not only translate but timing the subs with the the voices ><.
 
That kinda sounded like I was whining, didn't it :laugh: sorry, I didn't mean to. I was happy to do it. But until yesterday I didn't realize that making subs is such a pain in the butt :laugh:

Well, that lasted just long enough to be completely useless :laugh: I'm out right now but I can try to upload it again tonight

I'm sure he was just being modest. He is an incredible athlete, so if he practiced would be good at many sports. He has mentioned in several inteviews that he played baseball when he was young and at one point had to choose between baseball and skating. And...the rest is history! :yay:
