I only have one such feeling that Lena carries out all elements on some cosmic speed, at the same time doing it with improbable ease? Looking at speeches of other female skaters, such feeling for any reason doesn't arise. There can be because of this mad speed of her movements and therefore her skating seems to some people antsy and chaotic?
Looking at the comments on the Ladies SP thread, and the people complaining about Lena's PCS, I think most people actually don't realize how very fast Lena skates. Since the camera is always moving, it is very difficult to judge how fast a skater is moving, and how much ice they cover.
Before I watched a competition live, I didn't really understand why speed was so highly valued, but when you watch live, it is very different! It is impressive when people skate fast--it gives them an appearance of confidence and power--while slower skaters seem more tentative and less powerful.
I haven't had the opportunity to watch Lena skate live, but the comments I have read from people who have suggest that 1) Lena is one of the fastest skaters out there, with terrific ice coverage and 2) her ability to project to the audience is much more apparent when you are watching live versus on video. So I think her relatively-high PCS are completely justified.
As for why people think her movements are chaotic--I don't think it has much to do with the fact that she skates very fast, but it's more because of how she looks right now. She has very, very long, skinny arms and legs, she is very flexible, and she is energetic in her movements, so at times, I think it can look like her limbs are flailing like a puppet on a string (or a "wild Bambi (baby deer)" like Tara Lipinski said). Also, I think people look at her and assume that she still has to grow a lot (go through puberty), so they don't really take her seriously and are surprised/upset that the judges do. I think, for example, that if she had Anna Pogorilaya's body, and did the exact same movements, people would find it less "juniorish" and chaotic.
I'm not sure how much Lena will fill out (hopefully not enough to make the jumps hard!), but even if her limbs stay super skinny, she can certainly learn to make them look more controlled.
So yeah, there are things I would like Lena to work on, but most of all, I'd like her to keep her firecracker, "go big or go home" attitude and her absolute love of skating. :agree: As long as she has that, I, for one, can totally overlook the rest!
GOOD LUCK TO LENA IN THE FS TOMORROW!!

Congrats baby!
It's also the performance I rewatched the most. Though if we just consider the skating, maybe TEB.
