Agreed. If Liza's and Elena's PCS were scored like the men (1.0 factoring) and they were given an extra jumping pass (even for a 2Z), they would have been 2nd and 3rd in the men's FS.

I also love the resting b-face followed by smiles and kisses when the camera was on them, lol.

If Javi is getting PCS in the 9s for that skate, then Liza and Lena should receive 12.

what about Ashley Wagner. She was a beast at Nats. She has the triple lutz triple toe too. And she has higher pcs. Consistency is the issue maybe but if she skates clean wouldn't she be the fave?

Not at all. Consistency is the issue and Wagner is prone to UR and edge calls. Elena and Liza are clearly the faves and Wagner would need a clean SP and FS and Elena and Tukt to be off their game in order to defeat them. She could definitely vie for the podium though.

Congratulations to Liza! What a great come back story. Goes to show that having good technique always pays off. I do wish she worked on her arm movements more. There are too many and her wrists look awkward to me. But her performance was great! She looked like she was having a lot of fun during the second half.

To be fair Elena doesn't have the same jump quality as Liza. Even though she has harder content and better spins, Liza's jump quality is unmatched among the ladies.

Elena lost because of her wonky landing on her solo 3lz and her 3lo-combination. Little things like that matter when your competitor is liza and she is seriously racking uP GOE. Yuna level GOEs.

Europeans was Kiira's second international competition. She qualified both SP and LP TES at Golden Spin of Zagreb before Christmas, her first international competition after recovering from injury.

She only had one UR, in the -3S of her 3Lo-1L-3S combo, at GPF. And she's been getting ! on her 3Z, which garners -GOE but is not a hit on BV.

Considering she was getting more < in the start of the season (see the Japan Open FS), she seems to be improving.

Also worth noting that some folks I talked to who were at nationals noted her FS 3-3 combos were clearly rotated. The SP was definitely more disputed, but the overall point is that if she's confident and skates with speed, she is capable of hitting the combos.

She needs to work on those spins though. She is losing unnecessary points there while Elena and Liza are getting level 4s.

I agree that it will take a perfect skate by her to even have a shot at betting either of them, but I don't think it's impossible.

My dream of the Russians taking over is slowly coming true. At worlds, I want 1 and 2 Lena and Liza and the other girls can fight over bronze

You got to respect the Russians, they invested a lot into figure skating and it has paid off. Their medal count this season has been impressive. And they have done it without their Olympic champ and their #1 skater from last season. And they have younger talented girls wating their turn.

congratulations to the medalists, it was great from them, even though liza isnt my fave (maybe because i dont like either of her programs ) there is no denying that she was explosive and very worthy of gold medal, hopefully she will get different kind of programs next year,and i know she got all level4 but something off with her entry of spins, i dont know how to explain it, good luck to her at worlds

and miss firecracker elena, her consistency is amazing , but something about her shoulders bothers me, maybe because she is tiny sometimes her neck disappears esp when she jumps, but great performance as always (again, not a fan of her programs though )

It's that darn dress... She should've kept the gorgeous GPF one. But maybe she felt the pearls were lucky since she won all her events in it; can't be too hard on her for that, when I've got a billion FS superstitions of my own.

Ashley is the underdog. If she skates spectacularly, it's hard to see her off the podium but her skating has all these nigly pitfalls. Personally, I think it should be hard to keep Gracie off the podium if she has two awesome skates too but we have yet to see that from her.

Anyway, I think Ashley's presentation is more refined than Liza or Elena's. But not enough to go up against the GOEs that Liza would get on her spectacular jumps. I don't love Liza's LP but I have to admit she has a wow factor - the height on her jumps - and few ladies out there today have a wow factor.

I think if Ashley attacks her programs like at Nationals, she stands a good chance. Moulin Rouge is a great choice because the energy at the beginning gets her and the crowd going. Programs like Samson & Delilah and Black Swan really "get into it" later in the program and part of me thinks the music choice is playing a role in how well she's able to set herself up for a strong skate.

I agree, but so are Elena's. I don't like that we are approaching Sochi level PCS so quickly into the season and the quad. PCS at worlds will probably be pretty insane at this rate (~70) or maybe higher.
