I've never felt so sad while listening to my own National anthem...

Darn it, why was S/H's spin invalidated? :bang:

I rewatched S/H performance, I still don't get it... I mean, they are my least favourite Chinese team but... How did their pairs spin get invalidated?

I'm surprised that people are calling Pang/Tong classically elegant when, frankly, their lines are just really sloppy. There's really nothing classical about their skating. Unless you consider 6.0 style skating classical, then I can understand.

I'm really annoyed by the judging today. P/T's PCS was really undeserved, IMO. Big caveat - I was never a fan to begin with and am annoyed that they are here instead of Yu/Jin. Their program was very empty and Pang's lines are just as terrible as they've always been. Their basics have never been the best. Compare her lift positions throughout the years to someone like Liubov or Sui - they are just not good. Plus, they has no jumps. It sucks about Sui/Han's spin, because their performance was the most enjoyable out of the top four here.

I like Liubov and Dylan the best of all teams, despite the shaky elements. SHe's got amazing lines and musicality, and skates with her heart on her sleeve. It's lovely to watch.

I think the death spiral was a level 1 because she didn't get low enough in her arch to the ice (I noticed that as they were doing it but didn't think the judges would be so harsh).

Wow, the tech specialist really laid into S/H... no wonder we were all confused about their plummeting TES score.

Oh... I thought she was doing a special variation or something :slink:

You remind me of Ziggy and his dislike for P/T ;) Miss him a lot! Certainly still valid points, though.

Compared to what D/R were receiving, P/T deserve every point of their PCS and then some. I actually don't agree with them medalling overall, but that was a breathtaking performance (to be fair--I missed the beginning and the jumps. Were they terribly disruptive?).

Nope, they weren't disruptive, and Pang recovered nicely on her second 2A in the sequence after singling the first one. They didn't disrupt the performance, but you can't just go out and do doubles and expect a near personal best PCS (regardless of their artistic superiority over D/R).

Despite the, ehm, peculiar judging, this was a great event! Got to see some quality skating. The pairs event at the Worlds is going to be REALLY interesting this year

Pang and Tong were lovely and won the pcs in the LP! What a nice skate even with a few problems. D and R I think need to work on selling their programs more - a bit more smoothness would help regardless of the lack of lyricism.

I don't understand why S/H are penalized either, just don't get it.

P/T weren't the best but it's great to see how they love figure skating, they just can't bear to give it up and pour their hearts into every performance.
