I have hope for Roman - I think he and Camden are spiritual brothers who have been similarly amazing and similarly inconsistent these last years. Camden is showing a steady improvement in consistency, and I reckon Roman could, too. Roman's experience at the Olympics would be traumatic for anyone, plus he is still young. He's also super-talented and seems pretty self-aware. I really hope he gets chance to shine.
I've been aware of Roman but not seen much of him. I absolutely LOVE this program. It's stunning. I hope he continues to grow.

Boring though, and his jumps are just so small. He just doesn't deliver excitement, despite technical perfection the scores indicate.
You can say you find Yuma boring—even though his free skate is the most exciting and expressive men’s program of the season for me—since that’s a matter of personal opinion, but to call his jumps small just invalidates everything you have to say about him.

But they are small. I mean, at least on TV. He does have very fast spin, but not the height or the wild abandon of the cool, huge jumps. He is probably one of those skaters' skaters. I normally don't like those. I am sure he will have a very successful career.

he needs to get all clear to get the tech minimums for montreal worlds.

he may get one more chance ?
I think that it would be wise that he should skip his chances for Montréal Worlds, keep his programs, use the remaining time of the season and the whole off season for strengthening and get the 3A along with improving the non-jump elements the unless solo dance is included in major championships which I believe that he should switch because it's his core strength, he had no choice but to focus on those.

I disagree. I think he needs to skate clean, without a 3a, and he can earn his minimums. Edrian will never be a top ten at worlds. His goal is getting there. He can do so by skating clean.

I disagree as well, although that he couldn't be at the top 10 at men singles (unless solo dancing is a thing at the championship), getting to the Worlds without at least the 3A by skating clean is an impossible idea. He either get 3A for the next season or backloads the combo for both SP and FS like Rakhat Bralin while skating clean as I observed his performance while getting to the Bosphorus Cup might be random.

Edrian already has the SP minimums... which is the harder one to get for most people.

He just didn't have a clean program in the LP all season. I have followed him since he is 17-18.... he has a better chance to get a 4toe than a 3axel if you want the truth. I have even seen him attempt the 4toe in competition and it was close.

But think of it this way : why should he not try one more competition to get his tech minimums for worlds in his hometown. It is entirely possible to do it without a 3a with a clean skate and decent spins. He lost a lot of points on level 2 spins and steps in the LP as well. Yes, he represents the Philippines but he was born in Montreal and all his friends and relatives are here... I hope he skates a clean LP and qualifies for worlds... that could really be the best thing of his career. I adore Edrian. He is a wonderful skater and I hope he gets a chance to skate home, even if it meant not qualifying for the LP. Maybe his main goal is the Olympics but that qualification is even tougher.. because skaters need to be at worlds and make the LP the year before...if not qualify in an event like Nebelhorn among the top 6-7 for quota spots... The most realistic thing is getting that LP minimum with a clean skate right now. If he doesn't get it anyway, he can resume working on his jumps in a couple weeks... worlds are in 6 weeks... so why end his season now?

A 4T? Is Edrian pulling a Lambiel sort of tech content? I did a backread that he did a 4T attempt for like 2-3 seasons ago and where is it now? None which it requires a specialist, certain amount of resources and mental strength to get that in his repertoire.

If his endgoal is to get into the Olympics, getting into Worlds specifically making it into the free is the first step and the tech content that he has right now brings a strong possibility of not making it all no matter how clean it is for as long as the judges are taking advantage of him by reducing levels and GOEs.

I'm not stopping him of getting to another comp as last chance but I see it that he needs to end his season now and do a different approach like attending a summer training program from another group which he needs to save the amount of money during off season. I don't blame Yvan for what happened but I wished that Edrian could have go to him much much earlier.

Yes. A few years ago, Edrian was attempting 4T in CQE. Saw him with my own eyes live at the rink.

He has a good coach. You know, Edrian, like many other Quebec skaters was severely hit by covid restrictions. As he is not "elite" in Canada, I doubt he saw much ice for quite a while. When he came back after the restrictions, his jumps were not good. He is just starting to get his mojo back, including his trademark 3lz-3t.

One step at a time. Making home worlds could be a confidence booster and a PCS booster for him too. Skaters like Roman, Conrad and Nam Nguyen, just to name a few Canadians, have no made the LP cut in the past because of pops or falls in the SP. Trying a 3a and falling on it is not going to cut it for Edrian. His best chance for now, is to skate clean, no matter the content, and to raise his levels on spins and steps. He is already in his mid twenties... It's not guaranteed that he will acquire harder jumps at this stage in the game.

Yvan is wonderful. Give him time. I doubt Edrian wants to relocate. He could have done so earlier on. His brother is also a skater as you know. I cannot imagine the money it takes to bring up two skaters in the family... and who knows if he has other siblings ? Younger sister ? Did I hallucinate that ? :) The point is that he was very close at 4CC and his trajectory now is upwards. The Fed may help him too as I am sure they would like to have a skater at worlds and Edrian is not far off. I think the tech min is 64 and he got 56 with a fall, a pop, and lost levels... It's very easy to imagine that the pop cost him 5-6 points which brings him to 62... a couple higher levels and even with his fall on the flip he would have made it.

Bring it one Edrian ! You can do it !

So far however, he is not signed up for Tallinn, Merano nor Challenge Cup... so who knows... maybe he has given up on this season.
