Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

You know what, knowing how stubborn he is, I think if he doesn't get gold or silver in 2018, he might change his plan and continue to fight for another quad:biggrin: (don't get me wrong. I'm not the type of fans who want to see him skate forever when his body can't endure)

Ok, can we stop talking about 2018 ?

His goal is for 2018. Let's end on that. We are at beginning of 2015 now. Talking so much by you about 2018 makes me think how old I will be in 2018

LOL :laugh2: Anndddd the collection becomes bigger everyday...
Yuzura Hanya
Yazonori Hanyu
Zuzuru Hangu
...
Can't wait for the next instalment to come!

Also on Denis Ten as a 'rival'. He put out a great performance with few mistakes which was great to see. If he skates clean programs again for WC2015, he is definitely looking to lock down the podium with Yuzu and Javi. (Although I don't think, personally, his skating skills and the quality of the elements are at Hanyu level yet, and hence Yuzu has a 1.5 mistakes buffer over a clean D10.)

About 2018. Yuzuru has a long term plan for 2018, which I think is to stabilize a 3-quad LP. I'm not a dedicated enough skating fan to list the skaters who are capable of doing 2 different kinds of quads right now. But I think by 2018 that will be the technical standard for skaters in OGM contention. Skaters I can think of: Javi (not consistent enough), Kovtun (skating skills?posture?can't put my finger to it), Nam who gains a 4T (needs skating skills), Pchiddy returning (the only one who doesn't need a 2nd quad to compete?)... which opens us up to another topic that I'd like to hear about from everyone:

Who do you think will be the next person to gain a second quad? (and do you think the American skaters will all continue to push the quad?)

I think many skaters are doing quad sal in practice, but don't feel good with it propably to put in competition. Boyang Jin seems to have quads talent, but everything else besides quads is..... well, and his quads quality is usually not so great either, but he can easily rotate them

Definitely it's not all about quads. Besides quads you need to have great 3A's too, and the rest of skating.

Break Time!
It's been the entrance exam and final exam season since last month in Japan, so all the high school students are so frustrated now.
Girls who can't stand the pressure are trying to escape into their daydreams on Twitter.
"I would rather dwell with Hanyu Fantom in the dark basement under the Opera than walk with Raul (her boyfriend in real life) in the sun..."
"If Yuzuru can recover quickly in exchange for my failure in the exam, I'm willing to fail it!"
"Hanyu Yuzuru is both a phenomenon & a social phenomenon now, so our social studies teacher should give us an exam filled with Hanyu quizzes. I'm confident of perfect score then."
"The bigger Yuzuru's room is growing in my brain, the faster my school subject knowledge is slipping away from my brain..."
"Far in the future, when my life finishes, if I could be reincarnated and time-travel, I'd want to be born the tuna which was given to Yuzuru. Then I could make him healthier..."
"What? Yuzuru's lost 3kgs?! I'll donate my 3kgs I gained during the New Year holidays to him right now!"
"Trying to make my studying space comfortable, I put many Yuzu goods on the desk. Then all the textbooks and notebooks are hidden behind Yuzu and the place is becoming a dream-like space...There is only Yuzu and me!" etc.
Don't take them seriously. Just silly girls' fancies, like Bridget Johns' Diary.
this totally made my day

:agree: amazing quality! ( We're not worthy! :drama: LOL)

I have to say, after today, i feel sorry for yuzuru. If it's him, many are shouting inflated or overscored but when its someone other than him getting the same treatment, heaps of praise comes forth even when his performances are far better than the other (only problem is fall)
I feel so ashamed and sorry for his jumps and spins that are not getting the goes that it deserve. Such beautiful quality not getting enough love and are often overlooked since people prefer to focus on his faults.

And i feel sorry for him for having so many misfortunes on his health this season that prevents him from skating to his full capabilty in competitions.

I hope and pray that when he does compete at worlds, that he will be in good health and be able to give performances that he can be proud of.

It's a awful about Yuzuru's health misfortunes but I really don't think he's someone to be felt sorry for. He's the best skater in the world right now, he has general audience support (people in the audience applauded when they saw his score for that painful skate at COC!), tv commentators are in the habit of being very positive towards him, he gets the judges love... and they do award him him good geo-es if he does well. What are a few disgruntled anti-fans next to all that? Actually, I think it's all the love, interest and succes Yuzuru gets that makes those anti-fans to be so unreasonably aggressive. So no, no pity for Yuzuru from me, just celebration!

And my dream for the Worlds is to see a beatifully performed clean(ish) programs fro Yuzuru. A tall order for sure but I'd rather send positive vibes!

Actually, I think Yuzu needs to be challenged. Machida retired and Javi (even though I like him a lot) can't get >190 points at the moment.
I'm happy for Denis and I hope we'll have a great WC with clean performances.
I don't think Yuzu wants to win the world title no matter what (with falls and mistakes, but yes, there's no one else there to do better). He's a perfectionist and I'm sure he wants a memorable performance. :) If Denis skates like today, this can motivate him even more.

I just hope he'll be healthy.

When I saw Dennis performance I saw scratchy landings and he seemed slower than Yuzu, and I'm wondering why the score is very high. If it is Yuzu I'm sure people will be screaming overmarked :rolleye:
I can easily imagine they would scream as if the day of doom if it were him :p

I also have that feeling.
But we couldn't do anything. ;) it's like taking turn. ISU will not reward Yuzuru a second OGM even if he skates stellar I'd tell you. Of course if he skates well, others skate not so much, they couldn't deny him. But if all skate well, they won't choose Yuzuru. Remember Sochi? Because for sure Yuzuru could hardly get on the podium in Korea where many people would not like any Japanese skater on the podium.
If ISU had pleased those treatments from what JSF could as someone said, they would have definitely given Mao the gold at Vancouver or at least some kind of medal at Sochi for the reason but we know it didn’t happen and she seems to be the type of skater who are not beloved by judges in general especially when it comes to Olympic as her being a Japan’s national daughter for a long time and she is the one who likely to make JSF money more than Yuzu that doesn’t make sense at all to me. so I have to almost agree on that. in addition it’s not only the reasons but also it can be said that based on history. I don’t start the argument just saying sorry.
So I only hope that he enjoys this 3 years as much as he can. Stay healthy and joyful is the most important thing.
:agree::agree:

People root for the underdog; that's true in any sport but once you are the top gun, you are the target for everything including excessive scrutiny since you are the one people try to beat. Denis hasn't had a consistently good performance this season so it's natural to want him to have a good outing. I think that's why most people are not complaining about his score.

Yes to both of these comments.
I want GOOD performances from everyone. And strong skaters make strong rivalries which in turn make better performances. I think this throwing around of conspiracy theories is excessive.
As Hanyu is always first to point out, he is fortunate, and blessed. That's the kind of positive thinking that will keep him, and us fans from a nervous breakdown no matter what the outcome this year and until 2018.

Hope Yuzuru is on his way to Canada... hopefully with Borser and Nam :D (not in the same plane, but since both where in Korea)

You’re right, no time left, this is the very last and ultimate call from CC, so Yuzu ‘s better change his mind and go…..:cheer2::laugh:

Keep calm, support Yuzuru and send over positive vibes

In the meantime taking the que from fangirls twitter below, let's play Hanyu quizzes. Pose a question, the person that correctly answer then pose the following question.

"Hanyu Yuzuru is both a phenomenon & a social phenomenon now, so our social studies teacher should give us an exam filled with Hanyu quizzes. I'm confident of perfect score then."

Quizzes starts

At which event the British Eurosport commentators predicted the following "You have to say for the future, my money would be on Hanyu of Japan!"?
