Blue cheese for Tatsuki; very unique comparison. I think blue cheese is roughly equivalent to natto; sticky fermented soybeans in Japanese cuisine since they are both acquired tastes with very strong smells, so I would rather compare him with whisky inside dark chocolate truffles or mint chocolates. They are not prevailing to the public (not for children obviously ), but have certain tastes and lovers; they are my favorites.

I checked the Wait What video today and noticed it's almost reaching 20,000 views :shocked: The others are weeks old and have a maximum of 4,000 views.

Looks like somebody is missed.

That number indicates that Tatsuki has been missed by many people than the numbers he may guess. The clip was a pleasantly surprising gift for Tatsuki's fans.

Update on the Prince Ice World shows: it seems that all of the 10 shows were sold out in just a couple of hours as soon as they were available yesterday morning and the website crashed several times due to the multiple orders. According to ice show enthusiasts, this is the first time an incident like this happens for a show that is not headlined by Yuzuru, Mao or Daisuke.

If Tatsuki ever starts his own ice show, now we know people will be fighting to get tickets.

Yes, tickets went on sale yesterday morning at 10 AM and they were all gone in more or less two hours. There will definitely be TV coverage, photos and articles but I think fancams will only be allowed during fureai, when skaters go around the rink to meet fans.

Thanks for the update ionap. Tatsuki has indeed come a long way from the skater who dreamed of being invited to those ice shows so he can earn money so that his mother can stop working two jobs to support his skating. Now he apparently he has become the main attraction. Happy for him.

The fureai culture sounds to me very unique and to be only found in Japan because I've never seen such friendly, cozy and informal fan-meetings after ice shows were over in other countries (though I admit I haven't watched ice shows a lot even on TV). Whoever will face (seeing his delicate guyliner ) and talk to him in person in front of her/him, s/he will be such a lucky person and get my envy. : If I ever have a chance to meet him in fureai, I would like to say to him like "Thank you for your contributions to the figure skating world. Your works have been great to me, and will be a great researcher/choreographer/whatever you hope to be."

Yup, one of many reasons I have almost no warm feeling about JSF is that they push their skaters from ice shows to ice shows, and even take a large share from it (some sources say it might be 50/50, some even said JSF took 70). Now that Tatsuki has retired, he doesn't have to share with them anymore.

On a side note, this thread has somehow reached 80 pages (I'm pretty sure there were only around 20 during Skate America) and it shows his rise in popularity as much as ticket sales did.

An artist and television personality shares her feelings about being at Nagano when Tatsuki announced his retirement.
She loves Tatsuki very much and drew several pictures of him...and the rest of the guys of team Japan.
Very funny, very sweet.
When she first heard the news, it was snowing in Nagano, she and her friend went outside and drew 'Tatsuki Baka!' (stupid Tatsuki!) in the snow, in frustration. But she understands that she has his reasons, so before his last performance at the gala, she made a special sign board for him, with his face and 'Tatsuki Daisukiii' (I love you, Tatsuki!!) as can be seen in a video still of his performance.

She borrowed a Karaoke box to draw the sign-board, and in the toilet of the Karaoke 'let it go' from frozen was playing. It perfectly matched his retirement, so while listening to the music, please look at the comic sequence she drew.

I think this tweet about the fan board with Tatsuki's caricature is written by the comic artist called Mitsurou Kubo and you may already see it before. https://twitter.com/kubo_3260/status/549597983843426304

Thank you for the update. Tatsuki's name is not on the cover but somehow the cover image is from his SP. So I searched about what article would be, and it seems about his retirement. Tatsuki Machida ha detto basta (Tatsuki Machida said enough) According to a caption in Japanese on the site, the article deals with Tatsuki as the "main featured person".

Tatsuki's retrospective interview is also included, possibly shot during this season's Grand Prix series, given the hair and his costume for the LP. With a little more digging on GS, I found a nice brief summary about the episode provided by TuTU9678 at Hanyu's fan fest.

Yuzuru borrowed a Japanese flag from a girl in the audience after the medal ceremony for Worlds 2014, where he and Machida won gold and silver. When they were about to leave, Yuzu told Machida to go return the flag since the girl was a Machida fan (she was holding a flag with Machida's name 樹). The video showed Yuzu pointing the girl out to him, in order for the fan to have some interactions with her favorite skater.

What a beautiful cover shot! I think it shows very clearly why Phillip Mills has described Tatsuki as having "the mindset of a ballet dancer and the intensity of an athlete." Thanks ionap for the link.

One instance of the remarkable interaction between the two skaters I love most.

I had wanted both of them to continue pushing each other to greater heights, but sadly it wasn't meant to be. Now I hope that one day Tatsuki (and Daisuke too as I had previously posted) will choreograph for Yuzuru.
