Love so many of these suggestions! I am excited about the Ravensburger Waltz SD next season... Do you guys think couples are expected to skate to traditional waltz music? Is there a specific set of songs for this waltz? I know it has a pretty fast tempo... I am wondering because I think it would be sooo awesome and refreshing to see someone skate to a modern waltz like this one Maybe a couple who lacks a squeaky clean style? Thoughts?

As long as music meets the following requirements, it is fine. Otherwise there are sever required deductions.

Music - Waltz 3/4
Tempo - 66 measures of 3 beats per minute - 198 beats per minute
Duration - The time required to skate 2 sequences is 58 sec.Music must be 3/4 time,

Add me to the LOTR camp. I know there were a few routines the year of Fellowship but after that nothing. A pairs team, Dorota Zagorska & Mariusz Siudek used "Council of Elrond" and "Concerning Hobbits" for their 2002-3003 SP, and ice dancers Galit Chait & Sergei Sakhnovski did a really need blend of LOTR and "Nightmare" from Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance the same season (FD).

I'm all in favour of picking some songs that don't sound like they were played in a ballroom 200 years ago. I suggested Beirut (Sunday Smile) a couple of pages ago for the waltz theme, but in general, their entire playbook would be an awesome source for dance routines.

To me there's nothing wrong in wanting to be a princess - I just think that Gracie's current programs are aiming for the wrong (for her) kind of princess.

Note: I've actually nothing against so called "pretty princess" programs - if they happen to suit the skater. For instance, I have no particular wish to see Zijun Li skate to, say, heavy metal. I just don't think currently her programs are bringing out the best in Gracie. I'd like to see her going for something a tad more... Epic.

(Nobody ever seems to suggest the Epic for ladies? Why is that?)

I am thinking about the overture mainly (approx. til 9:00), I think the choir and even the soloists' parts would be too much. With a good music edit I think this could make a really good, unique program.

So Youn Park: The Snowman
It's a 20 minute film with no talking but rather a story that is narrated through instruments. It's an orchestra piece and since So Youn did well for her West Side Story program, I think she can do well with this music (and hopefully the judges can stop underscoring her in PCS).

Samantha Cesario: West Side Story
Someone already mentioned this before. Since she can perform Carmen well I think West Side Story would be a good choice.

Julia Lipnitskaia: Violin Concerto in D Minor
This is Kiira Korpi's FS music for this season. It's a beautiful piece and I think Julia's style matches it.

I know Yuna Kim is not competing but it would be great to see her skate to Elena Radionova's FS music this season. Radionova skated her program cleanly for almost the whole season and it was also Michelle Kwan's legendary program. Seeing Yuna skate to this will be interesting.

Lol, it doesn't get more epic than that, so it should be Yuzuru's LP. If he could pull off evil, that is. I think this piece would be amazing for skating, it's incredibly dynamic and varied.
